About Adrienne Aldous

Adrienne Aldous has a deep fondness for Brighton, Utah. Her roots are in Brighton. She currently owns Mount Majestic Properties, a business dedicated to marketing Brighton as one of the foremost skiing destinations in the United States. Which it is.

Adrienne Aldous’ connection to Brighton, Utah dates back many generations and begins with her great grandfather, James H. Moyle. When he was a young boy, he immigrated to the United States from Scotland with his family when converting to the Mormon faith. He traveled west to the then-territory of Utah with a group of pioneers. Moyle fell in love with Brighton when he first visited the area in 1887 with his bride-to-be Alice Dinwoody and her mother Catherine, who was acting as chaperone on their excursion into the Wasatch Mountains near Salt Lake City.

Chez Louisa

In 1956 the first year-round home in Brighton, “Chez Louisa,” was built by James D. Moyle, the grandfather of Adrienne, on a parcel closer to the ski resort. He named it Chez Louisa after his wife Louise. “This is where I learned to ski at age 8”, says Adrienne, “and perfected my turns well into my teens and twenties. Each year our rapidly growing family (cousins and aunts and uncles) would meet on Christmas day for roast beef dinner and picture taking. After dinner, we would gather outside on the deck and hold hands. At the count of five, all of us grandkids were to jump with abandon down into the velvety powder below. My grandfather would take simple motion pictures of us digging our way out of the depth and create funny narratives to share at our next gathering which was always a highlight for us kids.”

Adrienne and her husband, Jay, purchased Chez Louisa in 1993 when it went up for sale after the death of her grandparents, James and Louise. “For the first six years we lived in Chez Louisa year round because we couldn’t afford to own a house in town, as well. Some of our fondest memories are of sledding down the driveway, digging snow caves for sleep outs, cutting down and decorating our Christmas tree, swimming in the lakes and streams, and catching our first fish to eat. Our fist born son Addison learned to ski at age two which was about the same time he learned to walk a straight line. We continue to enjoy winter weekends as well as cool summer nights in this house built by my grandfather.“

We already knew Brighton but did not not know exactly where Chez
Louisa was. We were directed to the door by phone by Carole which really helped late in the evening

Our initial impressions of the property as we approached were very positive and were actually more impressed by the property's interior than the photos portrayed. This was clearly someone's well kept home and it was a privelege to share.

A Christmas tree with lights on greeted us and a picture window with the snow covered mountains ensured the holiday away from home was going to be awesome.

The property was clean and well maintained and we wanted for nothing. The rubbish was taken away and the snow ploughs did their thing every day to ensure good access.

The property company were always available to answer questions and give advice and in view of the amount of snow falling we're mindful of our safety - only an SMS or call away answered immediately!

We want to stay in the same proper again and would certainly recommend staying at Chez Louisa to all friends and relatives with an interest in the best of American vacation properties and skiing venues. Staying up in Brighton rather than down in the Valley adds a whole new dimension to a fantastic skiing holiday.

All you need for skiing can be provided by the Brighton Resort and the offer of reduced rate lift pass booklets by the company should be taken up. Essential supplies of food can also be arranged for the late arrivals.

Silver Fork Diner remains a local favourite for a great breakfast before hitting the slopes and for a wonderful homely dinner later on if you don't fancy cooking at home.

Whilst the house is at the top of the canyon access to other resorts and the city is easy, within half an hour. Food shopping is easy and there are great restaurants. We took in a Utah Jazz Basketball game in as well.

Mount majestic certainly look after you from the moment you make the booking right through to leaving for th airport. We felt that we had great personal service and that we were more than just customers.

Well done! Looking forward to returning to Utah,to Brighton and the Greatest Snow on Earth!

Best in Brighton!

While others are good, this one is great! I know because I have stayed at others, but we have chosen this one each year for the past 6 years. Perfect for skiing in and out. Everything you need for a great ski vacation is right here: hot tub, sauna, big fireplace, large fridge, big, kitchen, grill, deck, etc. Adrienne and staff will make sure you are comfortable and can help with groceries, lift tickets, restaurants, etc. Stay here and ski Brighton, you will love it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chez Louisa! The house is great! We loved hitting the hot tub after a full day of skiing and then seeing the groomer literally back up to the deck and groom the trail back to the slopes! The house was clean, kitchen cupboards stocked with seasonings, pots & dishes and even a crock pot. Carole was great about getting us tickets to Brighton and Solitude and replenishing soap and paper towels! We ended up having all our meals at the house; we were too tired after skiing to drive down the mountain. If you want to demo powder skis head to the Brighton rental shop. They were super knowledgeable, helpful and had a good selection.

Ski Bunnies 2012!

The ski bunnies of 2012--this, year a group of 9 women--all enjoyed their time at Brighton and in this home. We hailed from multiple states (MN, TX, IL, IA, WA) and converged on the property over the course of the week. We loved the old mineshaft, which provided a reminder of the local history. It was a great place to ski in and out of, and the hot tub on the deck was used every night to ease those sore muscles! Several of the gals arranged to have a masseuse come to the house to further ease the muscle aches through her massage techniques! She was great, flexible, unobtrusive and skilled! The gang enjoyed snow-shoeing to a Yurt near Solitude for a delicious 5 course meal--a unique experience!

Overall a fabulous week! Thanks, Adrienne and Ray and Carol! We loved it!
