Great apartment, lovely area, friendly.

We (2 adults, 3 children aged 10, 12, 14 and dog) found the apartment very welcoming, with loads of local info to browse through on arrival. The local info was very useful and accurate which we used a lot. The village has some lovely walks and wished we could have stayed longer to explore more. The location of the apartment is excellent for those who want to visit the Lakes for a relaxing time or a more active time in Blackpool of which we did both! We were impressed with the cleanliness of the apartment and that it had all the home comforts, and more, e.g welcoming provisions and the beds all ready made up. The Ship Pub we highly reccommend for meals out and also The Royal Oak (about 4 miles away). A very family orientated base to organise your holiday from. Will certainly try to go there again.

Owner's Response: We value feedback from our clients so we can continue to strive to improve the service we provide. We are baffled by this customer review on several accounts. Our property is advertised in the title as “NEAR LANCASTER, HIGH QUALITY GROUND FLOOR APARTMENT” This particular customers’ review (Cathy, Troy and Morley the Labrador) in our visitors’ book is as follows, verbatim: “Thank you very much for our provisions supplied much appreciated. Ideal location, very cosy, weather great, the walk areas are fantastic. Great wee apartment. Thank you very much for our stay. Cathy & Troy & Morley.” As is the case with practically all self-catering apartments we do make sure the key is always accessible on arrival, whatever time, so it removes the pressure from the client to arrive at any specific time. As in this particular visit the clients’ could not specify their time of arrival. We live next door, so 9 out of 10 times we are available to greet the clients and show them the apartment. If there is a delay, or clients want to make a day of it during their travel to the apartment they can arrive during the night if they wish to! Because we live next door we are often around to help with any requests from visitors to help make their stay as comfortable as possible. On at least two occasions we spoke to the reviewers and asked if everything was OK. We pride ourselves on a high level of care providing a complimentary bottle of wine, tea, coffee, milk, and other consumables on arrival. As you can see from the other reviewers, the comments in our visitors book (including this reviewers comments), and our occupancy rate, that we are surprised at this isolated negative review. We have many return visitors, some of which are on their seventh visit.

What a gem!!

So glad that we found this beautiful little place. Would have loved to stay longer than we did, but they were booked, not surprisingly! From my first communication to inquire about availability, all the way through to the end of our stay, Sue was fantastic. 4 The Croft is in a great location.....a short drive to Lancaster, but away from the hustle and bustle in the quaint village of Caton. No worries if you don't have a car, as the local bus makes a stop a very short distance from the apartment. You can easily get into Lancaster (15 min), as well as the rest of Cumbria and Lancashire via the bus. If staying for 7 days or longer, you can't go wrong with the 7 day Megarider Gold pass. Only 26GBP, and you can ride any bus in Cumbria/Lancashire. A great way to see not only the local area, but all of the Lake District as well. The apartment was wonderful and had everything we needed. We felt like we were living in our own home. It was well kept and clean. Thank You Sue and Ray! We will definitely be returning, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to post a review for us. One of the benefits of running a holiday business is that we get to meet such lovely people, from all over the world, and you were lovely, so we are glad that you found us ! We have had visitors from 21 countries, we worked this out last week, and will soon having been trading for ten years. It was great that you used the local buses, you can see a lot more of the landscape from a bus, its good for the environment, and you never have to pay to park, and as you point out it is a good reasonable deal for seven days of bus travel in two large Counties of England. Our booking rate is very high at the moment, which is great - so the prices are still the same.

Owner's Response: We do our very best to make our guest's stay relaxing and comfortable, We are enthusiastic about the beautiful area we live in, and have a lot of useful information about the local area and further afield, Our flexibility in booking remains popular- we have a simple summer and winter payment system, and no hidden charges, we are also keeping our prices stable. Many people prefer to deal directly with the owners of the property from the initial enquiry to meeting and greeting, this means that we can ensure the quality of our services and our reputation. Woody's is situated near the 'Crook of Lune' a local beauty spot where Turner painted. It can be accessed by a 15 min walk to the river along a cycle track, or by road. The Ship Pub is next door to us, and a friendly welcome is always waiting there. Many thanks for the kind review ! Sue

Wonderful home from home

  • 5 of 5

We had the good luck to find this lovely appartment at short notice to help round off a holiday experience we had planned for years. It was a brilliant way to make our final few days break another wonderful experience before having to return home. The appartment was very equiped and comfortable and a real home from home. We would never feel any part of the year would be a problem in staying in this cosy appartment and Sue & Ray made us and our two labs very welcome. Plenty to see and do in the area from lovely walks alone the River Lune or Moors or even down to Morecambe beach. Plenty of amenities all at hand in within walking distance and also a choice of "watering" holes within walking distance if you fancy eating out or having a friendly drinnks. We are only sorry we did could not stay longer. Would recommend this appartment to anyone no matter what your circumstances, Sue & Ray have made a lovely appartment for all to enjoy and relax in not matter what age you are and indeed if pure fact we could take our two labs and they could enjoy their stay was brilliant.

Owner's Response: Dogs are very welcome- the two labs which came were lovely, even coming equipped with their own case! Everyone seemed to enjoy the area, which is superb for walking, and relaxing- we can advise on both. The three local pubs in the village offer a variety of styles, and two are within a couple of mins flat walk, so you can forget about driving back afterwards; there is also an excellent take- away, if a complete break from cooking is required. This is a stunning undiscovered area, yet close to the M6 and Cumbria and Lancaster Universities, and within 30 mins of the lakes. Thanks Carol for your kind review, we are pleased you enjoyed your visit.
