Marylebone Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Loft Style Georgian Terraced House. Open Plan Living For 4 Or More!

This bright loft style two bedroom apartment on the lower ground floor of a Georgian terrace provides excellent accommodation for a family! A private entrance welcomes you to an open plan lounge area that extends through the kitchen to the conservatory and patio garden beyond. Two integral bedrooms and a bathroom with full size bath with shower complete the accommodation to allow plenty of living space for a family of four, five or six. This colourful open plan apartment is brilliant as a base for a taste of authentic London. After a busy day exploring, your London home will be a welcome oasis of peace and quiet. Each to his own... a relaxing bath, a cool glass of wine on the patio, connect online to plan the next day or play that PS3 game...

Marylebone and the heart of London are on your doorstep with Marble Arch and Oxford Street a 15 minute walk through the Georgian streets of the West End. The Planetarium and Madame Tussaud's are 6 mins walk, just beyond the curious Sherlock Holmes ‘museum’ in Baker Street. Grab a bus or tube from Marylebone Station and before you know it you will be admiring the Big Ben from the South Bank and the London Eye. The British Museum, the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square, the Tate Modern are all within half an hour’s travel.

This is authentic London so try traditional London fayre around the corner at The Pie Shop, get fish and chips at the Seashell or enjoy Sunday lunch at The Chapel our favourite local pub with a fine selection of beers and gourmet menu. All of those are less than 5 minutes away. A little further along explore the intriguing metropolis London has become. Edgware Road is ‘little Arabia’ with a staggering choice of delicious Lebanese restaurants. Walk the other way through York Street to splendid Thai and Indian curry houses, that offer good value. Come full circle at Baker Street for pizza and pasta options. Tasty indeed!

Rustle up a quick breakfast or a perfect gourmet meal in the spacious kitchen, fully equipped with gas hob, microwave combination oven, built in fridge, separate freezer, and a dishwasher too. Cooking is made easy with the best pans ever, well that is what we think of Analon pans. Both Tesco Express and Marks & Spencer are less than 5 minutes away so grocery shopping is quick. Eating in can be fun too and helps balance the budget! And because we know that a good coffee or tea *whenever you want* can be essential, we have made sure that the kitchen comes fully kitted out for that perfect crema espresso or that fragrant cuppa. Elegant wine glasses with plenty of modern dishes will quickly make your meal at your London home taste yum! Don't want to cook? Just order a takeaway for delivery within the hour. Atmospheric lighting gets you in the mood to just crash out in your own London hideaway.

Meantime, why not plan the rest of your stay? Some useful guidebooks are yours to use. Broadband internet and wifi are always on, because we understand you want to stay connected. Check the latest bargains or current exhibitions London has to offer or connect with the folks back home. Once you have ‘done’ the major sights, take time to explore the area and find your own London. Guidebooks in the apartment reveal many of London’s intriguing secrets. Stroll down Marylebone High Street with its eclectic shops or visit the fascinating Wallace Collection on Manchester Square.

And then entertainment. Yes, we like gadgets! A huge flat screen TV big enough for the whole family to relax and watch films or TV on Netflix. Choose from the selection of blu-ray DVDs that offer brilliant picture quality. Did I mention we work in film and TV production? Chill to your own music by connecting to our hifi using bluetooth. A Playstation 3 with multiple controllers and many games that our son has reluctantly left...

Two comfortable sleeping zones are private and compact. One is an intimate double with many lighting options to set the mood, projection clock and many books. The other has two single beds with controllable up and down settings to set the bed just how you like it. Two pouffes convert to two extra beds as an option if there are more than 4 of you in your party. A private space can be sectioned off in the computer lounge for these single beds. Plenty of wardrobe and shelf space for all.

Constant hot running water for a full size bath to relax or a refreshing shower: the choice is yours. Chunky fluffy towels give you that luxurious feel. If you are staying a bit longer, feel free to use the efficient AEG washer dryer. The 30 degree time saving wash gets things done in just over an hour. Clothes dryer and ironing board as well as a hair-dryer are all part of the grooming kit that we offer.

So that is it. We think that this is all that you need for a comfortable stay to enjoy London. Try it for yourself and let us know if you think the same!

Growing up on three continents it is not surprising that I have got the travel bug and have lived in different places. Now that my children are teenagers I love exploring with them too. In the last few years we have been lucky enough to do the New York to LA road trip (me driving all the way!), to fall in love with Bali, and to find that there is a whole lot more of Northern Europe than we realised by visiting Nordkapp. Last year we watched the world come to London for the Olympics but did sneak out for hot sunshine in Gozo near Malta. This summer we were enthralled by Morocco, its food, its natural beauty, its creativity. We'll be back!

maryke purchased this apartment in 1997

This apartment is our family home in London. Working in the film and video industries in Soho, we chose for Central London living rather than the daily commuter grind from suburbia. We could not believe our luck when we found an affordable property in Central London with a private entrance and even a little garden! Just a short walk to the Regent's Park playgrounds and all of Central London on our doorstep. Easy.

Although we were lucky to find this place, it did need a lot of work! A solid concrete second world war air raid shelter took up half the garden and seventies non-chique decor impelled us to get rid of strange 'features' including most internal walls. Guess what? We never put them back! The light coming in through the front and the back was so stunning that we just did not have the heart to block it all up again. The result is a kind of loft style apartment in a lower ground floor traditional Georgian terrace. In order to allow us as much living space as possible, we created small internal sleeping zones (which do have doors so there is privacy!). The result is a comfortable very modern apartment with all modern conveniences at the tip of your fingers.

Very Cool Apartment

We had a fantastic holiday! Thank you so much for sharing your flat! Everything is as pictured.

We got coffee and pastries from the cafe on Bell (a half-block away) every morning and had fish and chips from The Seashell (a block away) - and I am now hooked on mushy peas!

Unfortunately we didn't get to try the Indian places you recommended, we were jet lagged and were never in the right neighborhood when we got hungry!

The flat is walking distance to Baker's Street for all of your Sherlock fans! And it is close by to several tube stations, so it is easy to get to all of the areas of the city.

We hope to return to London at some point! It is such a beautiful, exciting, diverse city. We loved it and your flat!
Owner's Response: Hello Kelly, so good to hear that you found the apartment just as you expected and enjoyed what the neighbourhood had to offer too. We are lucky to be where we are with shops and restaurants so conveniently close. Being in the heart of London makes a trip just so special and easy, with Marylebone and Edgware Road so close by. Hopefully you will come again to explore this wonderful city! With many thanks for your messages, all the best, Maryke.

We STILL gush about staying there!

My mother, young daughter, two friends, and I stayed there and found it to be a very comfortable place to call home for just over two weeks. Despite being a garden flat, it was actually quite well lit and the glass-enclosed living room insured that even on the occasional dreary day, the apartment felt bright and cozy.

Maryke was incredibly responsive to any issues that arose, though hardly anything did.

The bedrooms were compact and comfortable and had barn-style doors, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs because conversation in one part of the apartment easily carries to another part due to the tile.

Some of my favorite memories took place on the back patio, surrounded by jasmine. My daughter still talks about it as "our" London apartment. When we come back to London, I sincerely hope we can stay here again.

The location was ideal for us (especially for our regular walks to and runs in Regents Park).
Owner's Response: Hello Karen,

How wonderful to read that you have such good memories of your stay at our Central London apartment in the summer. It is lovely that your daughter considers it her (London) home from home, even now.

I am also very pleased that you enjoyed the jasmine, which I planted more than 14 years ago. It is a particularly fragrant variety and it has done very well. So good to hear someone else has really appreciated it. It sounds like you particularly enjoyed the outdoors and open spaces that are close to the apartment, which is quite special, given that it is in the heart of London.

Thanks for taking the time to tell us and fellow travellers of your experiences at our London pad! Hopefully you will be able to come to London again soon.

All the best for you and your family!
Kind regards, Maryke.

This flat is amazing and had everything we needed. The location is excellent - close to Edgware and Marylebone tubes. The Tesco Express is very close by. Our hosts Arbi and Koki were helpful. Arbi even helped us on a Saturday night when we locked ourselves out of the flat. (Word to those who rent - make sure you have your keys as the door locks automatically on your way out!) We always felt safe in this neighborhood and the people in the area are very friendly. This is an excellent choice for stays in London.

Two doors open onto the bedroom which allow flexible use of the area. They can be closed for complete privacy or folded back to let daylight in. The other bedroom has two single beds - which of course can be pushed together for a double too. These beds have a luxurious up and down mechanism which makes reading in bed just so comfortable. There is a large built in wardrobe with plenty of hanging and drawer space. This is also where you find the ironing board and clothes rack for drying. If your party has more than four, for extra guests, there are two folding beds which can be placed in the computer lounge area.
