Paunat House Rental Photos and Description

Situated on a wooded hillside in the heart of one of France's golden triangles

We invite you to stay in a luxury contemporary house, combined with magnificent stone-built 18th century tower - offering all the requirements for modern simple living.

Set in a tiny hamlet near the ancient village of Paunat with its 9th Century Abbey. The area is known as the golden triangle of the Dordogne due to its huge wealth of tourist attractions: castles, caves and caverns, pre-history, beautiful ancient villages, countryside walks, canoeing and hundreds of restaurants offering 'Perigourdin' delights.

The property consists of a large welcoming entrance hall (26m2), with original beamed ceiling, and antique furniture. Two steps down to a large south-west facing salon (32m2), complete with open chimney and lovely views overlooking an open (semi-tropical) terrace and infinity swimming pool.

The large kitchen and dining room (32m2), directly from the salon includes a large dining table, to seat six. Kitchen is fully equipped with electric double oven, combination microwave, gas hob, large American fridge-freezer (with filtered water & ice machine) and dish-washer.

A winding staircase from the hall leads you up to a large (24m2) bedroom with an original 'cathedral' beamed ceiling (6m high approx). A King-sized bed and two double wardrobes. Double doors lead to luxury granite tiled shower room, with Monsoon shower, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail.

A pair of double doors lead onto a magnificent private roof terrace (32m2) overlooking the entire hillside, the rear terraces and swimming pool. Ideal for breakfast, calm evening drinks or secluded sunbathing.

The ground floor entrance hall also leads through to a Cloakroom (WC and hand-basin), and a separate Utility Room with Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Ironing Board etc. A short corridor leads on to the large second, (ground floor) bedroom (30m2). A wonderful holiday in a stunning house

  • 5 of 5
We have recently returned from two wonderful weeks staying at Le Vezou on the outskirts of the pretty village of Paunat. The house is stunning and it was difficult to tear ourselves away from it. However, when we did manage to leave, we had fun exploring the local area (markets, canoeing, caves, hilltop villages, restaurants, cycling etc.) and it was always a joy to return 'home' afterwards. The house is very well situated at the end of a country lane (on the edge of an oak forest) and is blissfully quiet. However, it is a short cycle ride or stroll into the village (where there is a beautiful Abbey and pretty restaurant serving local specialities) and a short drive to Le Bugue or Limeuil for provisions.

We would love to be able to return to Le Vezou and would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends.

Excellent!

Just returned from a wonderful week in Paunat!
Adrian couldn't have made it anymore comfortable.
Always good to know there is someone to contact if anything was amiss. But nothing was.
The accommodation is tastefully decorated and the kitchen a delight to cook in.
But our true delight was the outside kitchen near the pool where an excellent bbq and seating made eating outdoors a delight.
The pool was absolutely loved by our daughter who would not want to leave it, being heated and very private. The view onto the woods made you feel completely alone.
We slept in the upstairs bedroom which opens to a good size roof terrace again extremely private and quiet.
We cannot really fault the place – everything was in excellent order and having such lovely owners made the whole experience special.
Surrounding areas have so much to offer so we found by the end of the week, we hadn't done enough of anything! We have to return!
Totally recommended and thank you Adrian for a lovely escape (and the pan which is a real treasure!).

We didn't want to leave!

We didn't want to leave!
  • 5 of 5
We looked long and hard at properties in the Dordogne area before booking. Our criteria being simple, we wanted peace and quiet in a rural location with space for our two young children to roam safely but still be close enough to civilisation to enjoy amenities and to be able to travel to see all the local attractions.
On top of this we wanted to do all this in comfort if not luxury.
As you can tell we're pretty fussy!
We shouldn't have worried, the location ticked all the boxes but a tick alone doesn't begin to tell you how wonderful this house is.
It is without doubt the best property we have ever rented.

Adrian and Richard the owners and developers could not have been more helpful. They have built a stunning house with both the interior and the fabulously designed garden lounge, dining are and kitchen making it the perfect holiday destination for any time of year.
It was a privilege to be allowed to stay here. One we hope to repeat.

Périgord is referred to as the ‘Land of 1001 Castles’. The construction of castles in the Dordogne Valley began in the 11th and 12th centuries and most were later enhanced during the Hundred Years’ War between the kingdoms of France and England. The other river valley in the region, the Vezere, is the birthplace of mankind, with a wealth of prehistoric caves, with sculptures and paintings including the world famous 'Lascaux'.

To the south beautiful medieval fortified (bastide) towns with markets squares, such as Monpazier. The region is also world famous for its production of Truffles and Foie Gras.
