The cottage was thoroughly updated two years ago. We try to keep the property in the same condition as if this was our home. There is a large, comfortable master bedroom with a large walk-in closet and a nice queen sized bed. The living room (23x12) has been painted a wonderful shade of sea glass green, has a natural fireplace, two love seats, a couple of white, wicker chairs, a CD player, a nice sized TV. It is large enough to accommodate the whole family and comfortable enough to curl up in with your favorite book. The good-sized (16x11), fully equipped kitchen has pretty much all the necessary equipment to prepare a fine meal or to throw a 'pop-tart' in the toaster. Bedroom number two (14x11) is painted in a light periwinkle has a large wall sized closet and a nice queen-size bed. The paneled bedroom has two single beds and a new armoire which serves as its closet.
Dunes Colony was originally a manager's cottage and eight smaller cottages that the owner rented out on a daily or weekly basis. In 1984 the cottages were sold to individuals as condominiums. There are currently nine individual owners who comprise the Dunes Colony Association. Some owners rent out their cottages and some don't. The eight other cottages range in size from 400 to 800 square feet. The manager's cottage, #9, is 1600 square feet and is equipped to be lived in year round. The cottages are arranged around a court yard in a horseshoe shape. The open end of the horseshoe faces the beach. It is about 50 steps from the beach side door of #9 to the beach. From the kitchen, on a clear day, you can see the last lighthouse on to tip of Cape Cod. From the rear deck you can see beach and the water. We have a permanent deck built on the beach from which you can watch beautiful sunsets over Provincetown. The beach is quite large and is used by Dunes Colony owners and guests only.
Golf:
The Highland Links are located a few miles away at the Highland Lighthouse in the National Seashore. It is a challenging, deceptively difficult, not overly long, course. It offers some great views and interesting golf. I always try to get out at least once while we visit Truro and always return with stories to tell.
Other Activities:
Anything and everything on the beach!
