THE CASTLE OF CASTELSARDODie castle was built in the Doria family of Genoa 12th Century on the tip of the cape Castelsardo built, which overlooks the bay from the top. The city walls and the entire building has been preserved properly, especially as the distance to the sea water has prevented erosion. The castle contains the Museo dell'Intreccio Mediterraneo (Mediterranean Museum of weaving), which is one of the most important museums of Sardinia, and the local tradition of weaving baskets and other items of household use is given. From the terraces along the city walls, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama, which encompasses much of the northern coast and the island of Asinara. On clear days you can even see the southern Corsica. During the reign of the Doria family, it became a fortress of their rich possessions. Until the first half of the 19th Century there were several watchtowers that were not rebuilt after its collapse. The guards of the trenches in some places is still accessible, and the fixed points are visible. In the east we find the defense of Bella Vista, in the north and southeast of Manganelo a small balcony and the Sperone, which in the 16th Century by the Aragonese had been added during her reign. After the fall of the Doria family, the Spanish crown sent the viceroy Vivas, to learn about the Constitution of the fortress of a picture and write a report on which the Restoration Work should be cited. The building is located in Via Vittorio Emanuele in the old town of Castelsardo and is most likely on the foundation of the city during the Middle Ages, that on the 12th Century back.
