Overview

Bar Harbor House Rental Photos and Description

3 Queen Bedrooms, 2 and 1/2 Baths, Comfortable, Clean, Great Location!.

I love all of the seasons but May is very special to me. You feel like you are truly a part of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. People are so nice and friendly and you get to see all of the businesses getting ready to open up. There are still several of the really good restaurants that open early, too. All of the beautiful plants blossoming. There's nothing like the experience of Maine in the months of May and June.

Three bedrooms, 2 and 1/2 baths, On a quiet street, 1/2 block from ocean, town pier, free shuttle bus, shops, restaurants, grocery store, Acadia National Park, bank, post office, bike rentals whale watching, kayaking and more. 3 bedrooms all with queen beds, 2 1/2 baths, dining room, living room, CATV, CD, DVD, stereo, Wireless for laptops, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, back deck with gas grill. Interior has mahogany woodwork, wooden floors, and period furnishings. Sleeps 1--6 w/added cost for more than 6 people.

Location cannot be beat. The house is right downtown but on a quiet street just off of the beaten path. Off-street parking. The house has anything that you will need but is not cluttered w/ owners belongings as it is used only for a vacation rental. It has so much character and charm and you will immediately feel comfortable when you arrive. It's spotlessly clean. No product smells. No permanent residence ever but you will feel like it's your home immediately when arriving. Very comfortable and location is perfect for families, couples or single person. Dine with wine and walk home. There is something for everyone within one only 2 blocks from home. The free Island Explorer Shuttle Bus will take you anywhere else that you'd like to go on Mount Desert Island even the Bar Harbor airport. The Shuttle bus run from June 23rd through Columbus Day.

My husband has a small lobster boat and will take you lobster fishing with him if you'd like. Just ask him when you arrive and (if conditions permit), he will be happy to take you. You will also be able to keep enough lobsters for yourself (if you desire and if the catch is enough and usually is) and the back yard is equipped for you to cook them outside. Please read reviews. The Lobster fishing trip is in beautiful Somes Sound and is only a little over an hour and free for my guest!

Guestbook Comments about location: 6/24/13 April, one week is not enough. You are a very good landlord and provide a great old house that is well stocked and has a terrific location. Hope to stay here again. Ft. Laudrdale, FL.

6/7/13 April, Hopefully next year there will be more days open to stay in the house. Thank you for letting us stay at the 'little blue House' at 15 Federal. We love it here! Kohler, WI. (from a 12 yr. old).

5/717/13 April, we so enjoyed this perfect location! We were able to walk all over this delightful town. Plus being on a quiet street was a bonus from other places we had stayed. After a day of hiking, biking, kayaking, sleepis precious and we loved the quiet nights surrounding this house. With two couples it was great to be able to spread out!! We hope to come back again soon. Thanks again for this delightful 'home away from home'. Scott, La.

9/29/13 The house was so comfortable and welcoming when we arrived after 3 flights. Hope to return soon. Denver, CO.

Guestbook Comments about location: 7/12/13 April, the house exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful week with great weather. We have to go home now and rest. We will be back. Orlando, FL

Aug. 9, 2008 April, thanks for a lovely stay! We very much enjoyed staying here...the proximity to downtown can't be beat! Your home had everything that we needed. Our 3 yr. old called it 'our house' all week. The communication and instructions were very helpful right up until our arrival. The opera House Cafe became a daily ritual for us. Lovely place! Hudson NH

Aug. 16, 2008 April, we all had a wonderful time in Bar Harbor and especially staying in a charming house that is so convenient to everything. We've been to Bar Harbor before but having such a great base of operations made this stay the very best. Huntington Beach, CA

More Guestbook Comments on location: 2008 April, We had a wonderful week here at your house. We loved the location being so close to town and not having to drive in and find a parking spot. We all left very happy and relaxed. CT, CT and VA.

July 21, 2007 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bar Harbor. The town is full of character and Acadia National Park is beautiful no matter what the weather is. Coming home to 15 Federal Street was the icing on the cake...so central yet so tranquil. Wales, United Kingdom

June 23, 2013 One would be hard pressed to find a rental house to match the beauty of Acadia and Bar Harbor, but this lovely home was up to the task. Thanks for providing such a space for our comfort and enjoyment. The house made the experience so much more special! New Paltz, N.Y, Eatontown, NJ and Brooklyn.

About april blair-carlson

I love Acadia National Park ANY time but my favorite is the Fall! I love to hike, bike and take good care of my guest. I've hiked and biked every trail on the Island and love helping guest when choosing the right trail for them to take when planning a hike or bike ride. I take pride in making my guest as comfortable as possible for their vacation and will go out of my way to help them.

april blair-carlson purchased this house in 1999

Why april blair-carlson chose Bar Harbor

My husband, Bruce and I picked out Bar Harbor on the map after sailing for six months as a place to come and spend the summer in 1980. We both loved it so much that we decided to make it our home. We purchased two homes on Federal St. and live in one and use the other this one as a weekly rental. I love meeting all of the guest that come in from all over and I do as much as possible to make their stay a happy, comfortable and memorable one.

What makes this house unique

My husband has a 5 trap recreational lobster fishing license. He is 78 years old and loves to take guest out with him to check his 5 traps. IF CONDITIONS PERMIT and you ask him to take you, he would love it. The entire trip only takes 1 1/2 hr. The trip is in beautiful Somes Sound and it is so much fun. It's complimentary and you will get to keep some lobsters if you'd like. We have a picnic table in the back yard and a lobster pot to cook them with. The trip is short and very educational for all and complimentary for our guest!

Guestbook comments from the manager

My wife and I were extremely impressed with the effort of our host april to ensure our satisfaction in this centrally located Bar Harbor home. The rental is on a quiet street only a block from downtown, and allowed us to walk to the grocery, restaurants, and the beach front. The home itself is well decorated in an early 20th century motif, but very clean, great water pressure, and makes you feel like part of classic New England. April and her husband made us feel like family, and we heartily recommend to anyone ...

April's downtown house has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. It was so comfortable and convenient to everything that Bar Harbor and Mt Desert Island has to offer. April and her husband were so warm and hospitable. They will take you on an excursion to catch lobsters. It was the freshest lobsters we had ever eaten! Be sure and ask April about hiking trails because she knows the paths least traveled. We highly recommend this home for your next vacation.

April Blair Carlson House

  • 5 of 5
This was by far the nicest, most concerned property owner we have ever dealt with. The house was fabulous, well cared for and well appointed. April checked on us every day either in person, by email or by a note on the door to see if there was anything she could do to make our stay more pleasant.

She helped point us the right way to the best restaurants, bike rental stores, hiking and running trails, things to do and even took us lobstering.

Definitely a 5+ star experience. Cannot imagine a better experience.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5
What an amazing vacation. April could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We felt like guest instead of renters. The home was perfect for us. We had 3 adults and 2 kids. We were able to have a "home away from home". It was clean, comfortable and everything in Bar Harbor was accessible. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to stay here again if we ever make it back to Bar Harbor.

Thanks for such a perfect vacation.

Walk to everything!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second time staying at April's house in Bar Harbor. It feels like a home away from home. It is clean, cozy, and comfortable. We loved being able to walk to the coffee shop, the natural foods store, and Bar Island. Our children spent much of our vacation exploring the shells and rocks at low tide, so it was great to be just a short walk away from the water. And, of course, April is the most thoughtful host. She knows all the hiking trails and always sent us on the perfect hike for our family.

Nestled between Cadillac and Dorr Mountain in Bar Harbor, Maine, Kebo is a spectacular 6,131 yard, classic link and parkland golf course. American Bald Eagles are also frequently seen soaring above the links.

Our championship par 70 course consistently ranks among America’s best public courses. We are rated among the 'Top 15' public courses in New England by the New England Journal of Golf, among the 'Top 10' classical public golf courses by Golf Digest and received a four star rating in Golf Digest’s 'Places to Play.'
