Yvetot video tour now available. To watch our new tour, please click on the video link above and you'll see why our guests love coming to stay at Yvetot!
Enjoy a cup of tea snuggled up in one of the bench seats. Cook a gourmet meal in the fully-appointed kitchen. Feel the warmth from the wood-burning stove and the radiant-heated floors. Appreciate the view of Mount Vision from the private deck. Take an outdoor shower. Read a book in the hammock outside.
This and much more is Yvetot Guest House. Designed and built from largely recycled materials in 2003 by our architect son to accommodate visits from our ever-growing family, it is truly a magical place that we would like to share. It is a mile up from the town of Inverness and close to ocean-side and bay-side beaches. Hiking trails abound from just up the street to the many trails in Point Reyes National Seashore.
The house, which is 800 square feet, comfortably sleeps six people but can accommodate eight: two in the master bedroom and four in the 'children's room' - two twin beds and two twin futons with sleeping bags in the loft. Additional sleeping is possible on the bench seats in the living area and/or in the loft above the hallway.
Just added: WIFI, and a great hot tub and deck located on the North side of the property (behind far wall of bedrooms). Sweet spot, excellent views from the tub. Guaranteed to get our kids and grandkids here more often.
There are plenty of DVD's, CD's to play on the Bose music system (into which you can plug your iPod), books, games and toys to entertain everyone. Come and have a wonderful time!
(Mexico? Check out our daughter and family's place in Alamos, find under solipaso, it is very special, too.)

Retired GM executive, one feral cat, love this spot on the ridge and the guest house built for family and friends. Garden is special interest.
Chose the house and location for retirement...great decision! This spot is very special as sun, views, and 3 acres on the ridge top....very liveable!
Privacy, uniquely restful setting, and a very excellent job of design and furnishing .... our son is a talented builder and the care, attention to detail is obvious.
My husband and I, along with our dog, stayed at Yvetot last weekend. It was even better than we expected - the pictures don't do it justice. It was exceptionally well designed and absolutely spotless. The views are amazing. Mike was very helpful in recommending walks and places to visit, although we didn't experience many of his recommendations because we didn't want to leave the house. It was SO relaxing. We can't wait to go back. I can't imagine anyone not absolutely loving this place.
My two girlfriends and I had the perfect getaway at Yvetot. It so far exceeded all of our expectations that we felt like we were in a dream or on the set of movie. The home is simply perfect, beautifully designed down to every detail - beautiful woodwork, stone, and tiles; amazing outdoor shower; cozy hot tub with robes provided; comfy beds and sheets; and a wood burning fireplace, too. The surroundings and views are breathtaking. We couldn't get enough of sitting on the deck to watch as the light, fog, and clouds traveled across the hillside. The hike up to Mt. Vision, which starts just a few yards up the road from the house, was also spectacular. I know we will be dreaming about this place for a long time to come and hoping to return soon. Thank you, Mike and Catherine.
We first stayed at Yvetot in 2010 and have dreamt about returning ever since. We came again this year for some much needed R&R and it was just as good as we'd remembered. If you love sitting by an open fire with a book and a beautiful view of trees out the window, with a good pinot and excellent cheese platter on the side table, then this is the place for you. (Cheese and wine sourced from the Point Reyes Creamery about ten minutes drive away.) On another day you might hike into the valley you've been looking at, rewarding yourself afterwards with a nice long soak in the hot tub on the deck, again looking out over a valley full of trees. Just bliss. Getting to know the lovely hosts, Mike and Catherine, is an added bonus.
Inverness is our favorite place to go near the city, and Yvetot is by far our favorite place to stay. The cottage is beautiful and so well designed. The location is beautiful. And the owners are incredibly kind and relaxed. We're so happy that we were able to go again this summer. So many thanks.

Wow! Our family stayed for three nights at Yvetot and we are still talking about what a great time we had. My Aunt's comment was "There is nothing I would add and nothing I would take away." This really is a perfect spot.
The location is wonderful for those who relish the feeling of being away from it all, yet still like to be able to pop out for a pint of Ben and Jerry's.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, great pantry supplies and delicious coffee. The owners even left us half and half and milk for the mornings. What a treat.
The beds were comfortable with great sheets (I'll admit to being a sheet snob) and my nephew loved the loft beds with cozy sleeping bags.
There were books, games, nooks, a TV, a hot tub, music, everything we could need or imagine needing.
The outdoor shower was beyond wonderful. Imangine a hot waterfall. Now imagine you won't fall to your death after getting to the waterfall and that a nice warm towel will be there when you reach out. That's the shower. Amazing!
We were lucky enough to be there during the first winter rain and Yvetot is the place to be when a storm is coming in. Windows everywhere and loads of warmth.
We left feeling relaxed and refreshed, glad to have discovered such an oasis in our own back yard.
The pictures on VRBO do not do Yvetot justice. This really is a home made with love and incredible thought has gone into every detail and decision. The result is a beautiful, comfortable (quite cool!) vacation home where you can really get away from the hustle and bustle. Watching the fog roll in and the mist rise unexpectedly from the deck while predators soar overhead was a treat. The hot tub was fantastic after a day's hike on many of the excellent trails in the area. Mike and Catherine are the perfect hosts, offering great historical notes about the area and ensuring your stay is not only comfortable but special. We loved the granola and the excellent coffee produced by Mike's daughter which was thoughtfully in the fridge when we arrived. It was our first time visiting Inverness and Point Reyes and we all felt so lucky to have found such a welcoming, beautiful home. We'll be back, but for longer next time!
