2 bedroom ocean view beach house for 1-2 couples. One house from beach. Master bedroom - cedar paneled, sliding glass door facing ocean furnished with 50's collectibles, TV, queen bed. Second bedroom wood with cathedral ceiling, 5 windows, double bed, TV, built-in reading area. Sunny outdoor decks, one facing ocean, one facing a magnificent rose garden. Fabulous roof deck with ocean and bay views. Van service or LIRR 90 minutes from NYC plus ferry ride from Bayshore, LI to Ocean Beach. Quiet, charming, owner-occupied community. No cars are allowed on the island, access by ferry only. Don't rule out the off-season. June and October are beautiful and quiet times on FI -- there will be no one on the beach! And the rates are much lower! Unfortunately, no children are allowed -- the house is not child-proofed. The majority of rentals are only for Monday through Friday of each week. Please ask about specific weekends. Non-barking dogs are permitted. Property fenced to exclude deer.

Robbins Rest is a 20-minute walk from the Ocean Beach ferry, and is reached by walking through a bird sanctuary sand road. Ocean Beach is the main town on Fire Island with restaurants, shops, food stores, movie theater, historical society. Robbins Rest is a very quiet, owner-occupied community with very few rental houses. It is situated between two Federally-owned bird sanctuaries. It is the closest thing to Paradise one will ever find.

Robbins Rest is a 40 house community surrounded on either side by undeveloped federal property, making it one of the most tranquil and natural places on Fire Island. This is an intimate beach cottage with two airy bedrooms and a 'hot' outdoor shower, which feels like a spa. Comfortable private decks with modern outdoor furniture, garden, flowers and statues. The living room is comfortable and built for relaxation. The pleasures are the simplest -- a good book, a swim, an ocean breeze and seeing the sky while in the outdoor shower.

Fabulous Vacation

Our stay at your home was more than we could have asked for. Absolutely perfect, every last detail!!! Sitting on the rooftop deck listening to the ocean seemed to melt the stress away. And being ten steps from the beach was amazing. Robbins Rest is by far the best Fire Island has to offer...quiet...natural...peaceful. It truly is such a special place. We had only got home when we were already looking forward to returning. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful experience with us.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Tourists without a Car, Romantic Getaway

Shooting Stars

We had a fabulous time out at the house, especially on the roof deck, which is spectacular. We saw two shooting stars while up there on Thursday night. We think Robbins Rest is the nicest 'town" on FI. Not having a paced central walkway and having the open buffers on either side give it an especially strong out of the way, peacful feeling that we really enjoy.

Your herbs and flowers are incredible (hope you didn't mind us using some), and the screened in porch made it possible for us to eat 'outside' every night, even when it rained.

Thanks for what you've done to make this house so magical.

The Perfect House

We loved our stay at your perfectly located house in Robbins rest. It was as beautiful as you described and we enjoyed our daily walks into town. Being so close to the beach was also great and the views from the upstairs deck were amazing. We also appreciated the decor throughout the house, the fine screened in porch and your healthy garden.

Simply put, everything about the house was soothing and calm and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. You truly do have a little piece of paradise. We'd love to do this again next year so we will definitely be in touch.

Lovely Place

We had another great week of walking, swimming, eating, reading, etc. We enjoyed the beach, collected lots of shells and listened to your great collection of music.

There are so many lovely places to sit and relax in and around your house. You have created the perfect getaway.

Shangra La

Thank you again for the use of your wonderful Shangra La. The flowers are gorgeous and the accommodations par excellance. The long days are fabulous. The ocean views are over the top. The house is beautiful!!! And every year it gets better.

This is our fourth year, and we always look forward to coming back.
