Photos and Description of the Bailey Island vacation cottage rental 4 BR, 2 full BA, sleeps 7

Enjoy all three seasons, Spring Summer and the quiet of fall. Central heat and fireplace will keep you toasty in this traditional 1891shingle-style cottage sitting on a bluff with ocean views from every room. This will make you feel like you are stepping back in time to the way things used to be. Sleep with the sound of the surf. Wake up to the sunrise and enjoy breakfast on the large front porch. Nothing to see but water, islands and boats, both working and sail. Back for the night, cook up some lobster from local fisherman, enjoy the meal in the fully appointed dining room (lobster bibs included) enjoy the sunset over Mt Washington and come in from the cool night air to read by the fire in the fireplace. Enjoy games of scrabble or cards, enjoy the challenge of a jigsaw puzzle. Then back to bed to the sound of the surf. It's a good day on Bailey Island.

It was by far the most enjoyable vacation we have ever had. The view was spectacular, a photographers dream come true.
We are looking forward to spending another 2 weeks at the cottage!

Superb

Just back from a week at this fantastic house. We couldn't have asked for more. Sitting on the front porch with our morning coffee, watching the lobstermen working right in front of you, listening to the waves at night...It was wonderful. The house has everything you could want and is suitable for families, singles, or the silver haired set. I could feel the years worth of stress start to drain away as soon as I pulled into the driveway. Five of us used it as a Girls Getaway.

Charming Cottage - our best vacation yet!

Review Submitted: September 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Our best vacation yet! We loved relaxing at the cottage, having coffee on the porch above the ocean, falling asleep in the cozy bedroom upstairs to the sound of the waves, sitting by the fireplace at night with classical music on the radio combined wtih the sound of the surf. We explored Land's End and the Giant Stairs on Bailey Island, explored the tidepools off the cottage at low tide, drove to beautiful Pemaquid Point Lighthouse up the coast a bit, and drove to Camden to hike and shop, as well as sightsee in the quaint towns along the way. There is so much to do and see in the area - we'll have to come back for one of the boat trips. We made all our evening meals at the cottage as well as breakfast, and got picnic food at Shaw's Grocery or Wild Oats Bakery and Cafe in Brunswick (highly recommended). The cottage has about everything you would need, from binoculars to a hair dryer, radio and weather radio, phone (local calls only), coffee maker and filters and dishes for six, plenty of cooking pots, a washer and dryer, and books about the island. It is decorated with old sailing photos, photos of some of the orignal family members who built the cottage, and paintings of local scenes. We will be back!
