A private drive chiseled through pines leads to an architectural three-level house surrounded with sliding glass doors. Enclosed cedar decks allow for private sunbathing and entertaining. Large master suite has sunken jacuzzi and sky-lit bed. Cozy/romantic all seasons with wood-stove in master bedroom and fireplace in dining area. (Pets are allowed with references)

Are you kidding me?

This house was advertised "too good to be true." We experienced unbelievable mold, ceilings falling from moisture, huge bugs, old dog bones under the couch, broken coffee pot....need I say more..The owner said "sorry, you know how the Cape is in August.." Don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures. That beach is not so close..

Owner's Response: The house is situated on an acre of scrub pine woods. We have screens everywhere but if left open, flies come inside. There are all new ceilings on the first floor and no mold to be seen on any of the three floors of the house. Appliances break, and we're happy to replace when that happens. The bay in the photo is just under a half mile from the house on side streets, bikeable, and two minutes by car. We have a terrific cleaning team, and no matter which season the house is rented, the goal is for tenants to enjoy the house - the great light, the open-ness of the plan, and the surrounding nature.

The gem was not moldy!

Any problems with mold were not apparent on our stay. Apparently that situation has been fixed. We had a wonderful stay at the house. Yes, there are a couple of minor quirks about the house, as with any home. (dishwasher, freezer door, shower on first floor), not a big deal for us. These minor inconviences were overshadowed by the homes architectural beauty and oneness with its surroundings. The property is smack dab in the middle of the areas most popular beaches. Close to Rt-6, and a quick ride for provisions.We rented the home for our annual surf casting trip. But were still able to check out the nearby Truro Vineard, and a day of shopping for the ladies in P-town. The guys picked up some nice bluefish and striped bass on Race Point. (Nelsons Too bait shop a stones throw from the house). Overall a wonderful property and vacation. Fireplace added ambiance and warmth on chilly Oct nights.Only complaint is two GFI outlets inoperable in kitchen, but this is an easy fix. Considering renting again next year ........Thanks Carole!

We had a wonderful time at the "Gem in the woods." A very unique home! Close to all the Beaches. Woodsy enough for the outdoors type, yet modern enough for those who don't enjoy roughing it. Beautiful sunrises / sunsets. Loved the wrap around decks, although can be slippery when wet. Open and airy floor plan. Fireplace provided great ambiance and warmth on chilly Oct evenings.Overall a great vacation home.

Gem needs some polishing

This is my first time writing a review, but I was so disappointed by this house that I'm compelled to write. While the house is nestled in the woods as the picture shows, the photos don't fully represent the state of the house. The first floor bedrooms and bathroom suffer from Cape problem of mold. Knowing this (our third summer in Truro), we had asked and owner assured us it wasn't a problem. Owner did provide dehumidifier but automatic shut off didn't work so it overflowed and covered floor in water. Freezer door doesn't close without a concentrated push (so easy to leave ajar) and dishwasher rack needs wiggling to close and several lights not working. Other inconveniences indicative of house were going from 3rd floor master bedroom to first floor to shower, since shower is turned off on 3rd floor and no hook to hang towel when using outdoor shower. A small investment and a good handyman could make house more enjoyable. We were sorry to be so disappointed.
Owner's Response: In twenty years renting there has never been a problem with mold. I felt very sorry when that happened in August, and it was fixed immediately.
I can provide references for future tenants from tenants who were at the house after these tenants who will attest to the fact that there is no mold.
I appreciate the other helpful suggestions and we have made these minor changes, as it's so important to keep the house a comfortable and enjoyable retreat for guests.

Great view wonderful beach

We loved the sunsets...and the beack walks...!!
Having a little space to leave some stuff overnight at beach area was a big plus!

House had all that we needed- It was a real hot week so AC would have been nice- but acrtually it got us outside more not to have it! Good ventiliation and Cool enough to sleep at nite....all in all was very restful

Found great dirt road Bike paths by Highland park area.
Good restaurants nearby and on Ptown.... was a fun vacation - wish I had two weeks!
