This 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath in-town home is tastefully furnished, totally renovated, charming, and only three blocks from the ferry. Both the location and ambiance of the home create the feeling of a downtown inn, reminiscent of a by-gone era. The historic, federal house has an excellent, airy flow with maximum use of the rooms. The first floor includes a living room, dining room with built-in glass china cabinet, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, a walk-in pantry, a bedroom and a half bath. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with a skylight. The outside features dining on either a screened porch or on a large, mahogany deck overlooking the level yard with grape arbor and mature plantings. There is also an enclosed, outdoor shower. The home is totally accessible to all the vineyard has to offer and two blocks from Main Street with restaurants, galleries, boutiques, bookstores, theatre, movies, restaurants, concerts, etc.

We have enjoyed many wonderful family vacations at this home throughout the years and have created memories that we cherish. From the moment we get off the ferry and see the tall tree in our yard as we go up the hill, we feel we have a slice of paradise!

You can enjoy family time on the deck or outside porch, run downtown for a quick cup of coffee, decide to go to the theatre or movies five minutes before it starts, play a game of tennis across the way, hear a concert at Owen Park, not worry about driving after having a delicious meal and a drink at one of the fine restaurants 2-3 blocks away, grab a sandwich for the beach, bike to Edgartown, Oak Bluffs or up-island, relax in the lovely yard under a splendid old tree, hear a speaker at the library or bookstore, check out the unique shops, and at the end of the evening have an excellent night sleep.....so many options!

Once you step inside the gate you can start your vacation. Our home is fully equipped and designed so that everyone can be together or just do their own thing. It feels like stepping back in time but still enjoying the benefits of modern day conveniences.

A little corner of heaven on the Island!

An avid vacationer on Martha's Vineyard, I am thrilled that my family found this wonderful historic house just a short walk from Vineyard Haven! We have been coming here for more than 10 years and look forward to our next stay almost as soon as we leave.

Although we bring a car for our week-2 week stays, this house is in a perfect location: a short walk from the ferry, and access to many areas by bike or on foot, my family enjoys the comfortable homelike atmosphere in our favorite spot.

Every bed is comfortable and the bedrooms have some unique features found only in the old houses on the island-- I often imagine the families who made this their home 100 or more years ago. The pleasures we enjoy now include a beautifully updated kitchen; a fantastic deck for relaxing, cocktails, grilling and overlooking a lovely corner lot with mature flowering trees and even a grape arbor. The yard is perfect for croquet, volleyball, or badminton! And tennis is just across the street.

The screened porch is perfect for candlelit evenings -- or a snooze in the large comfy hammock! On some nights, one of us can be found asleep there throug the night.

Perfect place for a small family or a group of friends -- it is easy to manage with its beautiful hardwood floors, no-muss kitchen & baths. If you prefer not to cook, ta number of great restaurants are nearby. A stop for homemade ice cream on Main Street is a must!

Vineyard Haven is my favorite town on Martha's Vineyard -- it is lively, has a renowned bookstore (you never know who you might meet there!), many great shoppes, and is a wonderful location from which to access all points of the island...whether you want to stay close to home or roam the whole Vineyard, this is your best bet for a true home away from home. You can even visit the Vineyard Haven beach just a 7 minute walk from the house.

Last -- but, for me, not least -- the outdoor shower is a must !!! With birds chirping, a gentle wind blowing, and superb water pressure, this is a truly zen experience.

Enjoy every minute in this lovely in-town hideaway.

Fabulous house walk to ferry

I have stayed in this house for the past five years with 3 other women. We have returned year after year as it is wonderful in every way!
The house is well kept, well equipped and very clean. There are many outdoor areas with lots of furniture for relaxing - a deck overlooking a large yard and a screen porch where we always have our breakfast. The inside is not cluttered and very comfortable....I really love the feeling of the house - it is old, but up-dated and has wood floors throughout. Best of all, it is I the heart of Vineyard Haven and within minutes you are in downtown. Because we are a group it gives us the freedom to do our own thing, too ( without having to drive). Itis also centrally located to get to up island and the other island towns. I cand recommend the house enough!!!!
