A spacious family compound set on 6 secluded acres, yet just a stroll to picturesque Wellfleet Center with all it's restaurants, art galleries, cafe's and shops, Uncle Tim's Bridge and Wellfleet Harbor and Mayo Beach. It's also just a walk or bike ride to beautiful Long Pond and only 2 miles to the gorgeous ocean beaches in the Cape Cod National Seashore. This property is large enough to accommodate your family reunion or multiple family vacation. The property consists of a three bedroom, antique main house with an exceptionally large Great room and a new modern kitchen. There is an extra-large dining table in the great room as well to accommodate a large group. The main level of the house also has an additional family room with TV/cable , another smaller living room and additional dining area as well. There is also a screened in porch. Just outside the kitchen is a brick patio for additional outdoor dining and entertaining.

Great gathering spot

We rented this property for a family reunion this past summer and had a very nice time. Our extra large group was able to hang out together and not feel cramped at all. The houses were all clean - the "rustic" cottage is just that - more rustic than the house but clean as well. We loved the proximity to town and the harbor. We had some older teens that liked the freedom of walking to Wellfleet Center and grabbing some lunch or ice cream. All in all we had a very nice time.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers

A nice place to stay

We rented this place site unseen mainly due to its location in the heart of Wellfleet. The main house is charming -- lots of space and great for large groups. The big kids watched TV in one room, the little ones played in another, and the adults enjoyed a big dinner in the great room. Sleeping rooms are lovely as well.

The little house is a bit of a let-down. While one reviewer called it 'creepy,' it was actually very well kept and clean. However, the master bedroom mattress is in tough shape, and there is no door on the master bedroom! We were there over Columbus Day weekend and the little house was downright cold, despite the efforts of a large heating unit in the living room.

We would definitely rent it again in the summertime, but would think twice about it if they haven't added a door or a new mattress to the little house's master bedroom!

The location can not be beat -- close to everything in downtown Wellfleet, and easy access to Ocean and Bay beaches because you don't have to deal with traffic on Rte 6.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Many Mice and Way Overpriced

I have rented many vacation homes and this "retreat" in Wellfleet was the least value for the price of any I have stayed in. There were mice all over the patio outside the primary entrance to the main house. Mouse droppings were present inside the house. The stairs in the main house were treacherously steep. The main house was run down and the cottage was 'creepy'. It was a very disappointing stay.
