15 members of our family recently stayed at this wonderful historic home. Everyone from age 82 to our 3 year old had a wonderful week. The house itself is well preserved, yet remarkably modern. After just a few minutes the house magically wraps itself around you and you are under it's spell!!! Every room has marvelous wall paper, and the furnishings are cozy, sensible, and comfortable.. The main bath on the second floor is quite large and appears to have been fully renovated very recently. With 3 baths, there was never a problem waiting!!! The kitchen was fully operational for any type of meal, and we cooked often. Even made birthday cake! Plenty of pot's and pan's and what not. Laundry room off the kitchen is perfect. We spent many hours on the back deck relaxing earlier in the day and later in the evening. Very quiet and peaceful! The air-conditioning worked perfectly during a beautiful but very warm week. The location of this home can't be beat. It is on the road that takes you to Mayflower Beach, a truly spectacular spot. My husband and I took a power walk from the house to the beach every morning, (1.3 miles) but this is not something you would do with all your beach needs. You would want to drive down to the parking lot, which fills up by 10-11am and either pay $20 to park, or drop off all your things and family, go back to the house, and ride a bike or walk back! There are other beaches near by as well. Being on Mid Cape allows you to explore in all directions without having to drive for hours. Bike trail is nearby and is a fun day out. Plenty of restaurants, and food nearby, with the convenience of the Dennis Market practically across the street!!!! Stop and Shop is a ten minute drive. Chris is the nicest guy to do business with, very easy going. The only things I could find fault with was the grounds. They really aren't manicured, so don't expect the outside to look like some kind of a resort or million dollar property! But once you step into the home, it doesn't matter!!! Also, the lack of internet connection is hard for those who do not have a smart phone.
I Highly recommend this home away from home. You could easily pay double or triple the weekly rent in order to accomadate 15-20 people, (Just check on this website, the prices are crazy for 1 week) but you would be hard pressed to match this charming getaway!!!
Owner's Response: We're always grateful for a review like this one, which captures the charm and livability of our home! This year, drought conditions ravaged the cape, and our property had a sere look, unlike the green and colorful ambiance of seasons' past. We are adding WiFi to the house for the coming season! Let's hope the weather is better!
