House in Dennis

On the positive side, the house has good separation of sleeping and living spaces, which is great when you have multiple families and kids of different ages and sleeping schedules. It is in an attractive, peaceful neighborhood and the landscaping is well-maintained. It has great play space for young kids and a nice backyard. It has everything you need in the kitchen, and tons of towels and linens, which was very convenient. The dining room was a particularly nice indoor space. The owners were great to deal with, answering many questions before we decided to rent, and very thorough and helpful upon check-in.
On the negative side, there was major yard work and construction going on at 2 houses immediately adjacent to the property, which completely ruined any hope of peace of quiet for 4 straight days, then the owner showed up on the 5th day to mow the lawn. The house is 28 years old, and since it has no air conditioning or dehumidifiers, it is somwhat musty and showing its age. It was not cleaned thoroughly. The finished basement stunk horribly, and we never used it as a result. The queen size bed in the master bedroom is simply not fit for human use, so don't expect to be comfortable in it until the mattress and box spring are replaced. As for location, it is more than a short walk to Scargo Lake (maybe a mile?), so be prepared to drive.
Owner's Response: True.. There is not airconditioning at this time only fans. The listing does not state that there is. There is a built in dehumidifier in the basement level . Due to the high humidity this summer and the windows down there being open and the humidifier being off . It did get quite musty as the cleaners stated. The windows have to remain shut during this kind of weather. All mattresses are new. A sleep number bed may have been a better bet for all. We would have no knowledge of another property owner doing yard work on their property nor would they be obligated to notify us. The distance to Scargo Lake is 0.6mi. And there are those who prefer to drive.
