Stayed: April 2012
We can't say enough good things about wonderful week at this villa in April 2011. Our stay got off to a great start when we were met at the airport by the owner's representative, Victor, who took us right to the villa and showed us how everything worked. The villa enjoys a spectacular 180 degree view of the open ocean from the expansive front yard. When not exploring the island, we spent idyllic hours in the sunshine contemplating the sea. The villa is set above a quiet street in what seems a rural setting (cows grazing next door; windmill on the abutting hill) yet it is a short walk to the supermarket and shops in Ginetes. We found the villa very commodious, clean and well-maintained, and the owner had thoughtfully provided much information on sights and activities, as well as directions for the appliances etc. The bedrooms were ample for our group of seven. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a lovely old fireplace beside which we dined and enjoyed card games and readings after supper. Shopping at the supermarket was easy and we also dined at a couple of the restaurants in town. Ginetes is really a perfect location from which to explore what must be the best parts of San Miguel. Sete Cidades, Ponta da Ferraria and other gems are not far. Although we rented cars for the visit, we also chartered Victor's 9-passenger van for a day, and he took us to some places that are not in the guidebooks and to other places that are. We definitely plan to return.
