About Rosemary Milliman

I have always love the water. I had a dream of owning a property on the water. This dream became a reality in 2000. This photo is a photo of me at 7 years old! I'm on the right.

Rosemary Milliman purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Rosemary Milliman chose Wellfleet

Renters say that my cottage is so cozy and that I've thought of everything. I consider people who rent as extended friends. Many renters have become friends.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is close to everything. If you don't want to travel to the beach .....you're home!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were pleasantly surprised by the level of detail in the cottage. You've obviously thought of everything we might need! This is not your typical "beach cottage". It's much more like a home away from home on the beach. Our two children ages 4 and 6 had such a wonderful time in the bay beach. The playground was an added bonus right down the street. We had lovely weather but even when it rained we didn't mind because the cottage is so cozy. We lit the fireplace and enjoyed the lovely surroundings. It was great to grill outside. Having the choice of a gas grill or charcoal was super. Sometimes we had both going. We will definitely be back!

Thanks for opening your lovely cottage to us!

Cozy, Comfy Cottages in the Best Location on Cape!

  • 5 of 5
I fell in love with Wellfleet nearly 30 years ago, when my husband and I started bringing the kids, staying in other cottages along Mayo beach. After a long absence, we wanted to return and begin a new tradition of summer week-long retreats to Wellfleet with our 15-month-old grandson. Those cottages were sold in recent years, and it was time to scout out a new place for our Wellfleet escapes. After reading the glowing reviews and seeing the photos, we chose both Beach Rose Cottage and it's twin cottage next door. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made for our extended family, and we had plenty of room to spread out.

These sweet little houses are clean, modern, cozy and comfy, with lots of little touches that make them stand out from the rest. Both cottages are bright and airy, inside and out, and It's obvious that Rosemary takes great pride in their presentation and upkeep. To my pleasant surprise, linens were provided, as well as beach chairs, umbrellas and even beach toys! A washer, dryer and even a dishwasher are available, and the grassy yard, flowers and herb garden add a homey touch. The fenced-in backyard allowed our grandson to wander safely, and the huge outdoor shower was an added bonus - especially for those in our group a tad too tall or stout for the smaller indoor showers.

With the beach just feet away, a playground, ice cream, fried clams and even the quaint little town just a short walk away, and the Cape Cod National Seashore just minutes away by bike or car, there isn't a better, more peaceful location in all of the Cape. We're already planning our return for 2015!

I really hope to return there next year.

We just spent a week in Wellfleet, for one of the most enjoyable vacations we've ever had. This cute little cottage is all we could ask for, and the kitchen was as well-stocked as the owner stated it was. The only thing I brought up with me was a paella pan, and a few of my knives (I am a freak about knives, and prefer to use my own, even though the ones provided by the owner are quite fine.), but I did not lack for a single pot, pan or utensil. The coffee maker made an excellent cup of coffee, which really got each morning started on the right foot.

It was really nice to not have to bring linens or towels, and the beds were very, very comfortable (I have a bad back, so any deficiencies in mattresses are immediately apparent to me the next morning). The inventory of plates, bowls, glassware, and various utensils is more than adequate for any dining needs, and are actually very nice to use, and very clean. The dishwasher is a huge plus. We really appreciated the gas grill, and used it to make steaks and paella (I brought an actual carbon steel paella pan with me), and there is also a charcoal grill if you wish to use charcoal, but you must buy your own charcoal, which is readily available in stores.

The sea breeze was very nice and cooling, and we spent many hours sitting at the picnic table, shucking clams and oysters, and drinking Prosecco. I am not a sun bather at all, but I like to just walk on the beach and watch the waves lap the shore. The neighborhood is perfect for me - calm, quiet, and a short walk or drive from several restaurants (I highly recommend Ceraldi).

Mac's Seafood store is on the pier, and you can also get food to eat at the outdoor tables. The quality of the seafood in the fish store part is simply amazing, and we had the best lobsters we have ever had for dinner one night. Four two pound lobsters actually fit in the lobster pot (we steamed them perfectly), and were so filled with meat we couldn't believe it.

All in all, the Beach Rose cottage was a perfect vacation for us, and as I said, we hope to return next year and have the same great time. The location is really great. The neighborhood ambiance is great. There is even a television in each bedroom, should you wish to do things such as watch the NY Giants lose (one quarter of that was enough), and the available free WiFi is a very nice and very important extra. I can pretty much guarantee that is you go there, you will have a great time. We certainly did.

This is a lovely property in a great location.

This property is very well maintained and is described very accurately by owner. I loved the location right across from Mayo beach and close enough to restaurants, yoga studio and town so that you can easily walk to these places.
I liked the two queen size beds in the bedrooms and the tv in each room so everyone could have some space of their own. The mattresses were good and the linens were nice. I think these things are important.
Some nice touches are the excellent gas grill and option to use charcoal grill if you prefer, the backyard fire pit, the electric fireplace, the herb garden and the docking station. The owner has clearly thought through what enhances a stay at the beach!

Simply Wonderful!

Beach Rose Cottage has everything and more in a summer rental! Rosemary provides amenities that are not offered elsewhere. You can arrive with a bathing suit, beach towel, and goodies for your fridge and never leave. The galley kitchen is complete and clean - plenty of cookware, sharp knives, real glasses as well as plastic and a dishwasher! Bonus of a fresh herb garden just outside the door makes the fresh sea bounty that much tastier. There are bath towels and linens provided - the beds are made when you arrive! So pleasant inside with paintings on the walls in every room, a comfy futon to snuggle on and a fireplace for the chilly times. Step out the front door and see the ocean just over the crest of the dune. steps away from your own beach! Beach gear is in the outside shed! Great for families with children of all ages. Walk to Mac's for take out seafood or ice cream, check out the Wellfleet Pier, Bookstore Restaurant, Pearl, take in a local theatre show, square dance on Wed., listen to Shakespeare in the park, play on the playground, talk to the Oystermen, stroll to town, or walk the beach in either direction! When back to the cottage use the outside hot water shower, make a fire in the firepit in the private enclosed backyard, and cook dinner outside your grill of preference. Eat or play board games at the picnic table.
If you choose to venture out, this cottage is a short drive to Provincetown or a selection of ocean beaches, ore fresh water kettle ponds.
Rosemary is a great host and is available. We have been renting from her during the past 13 years and will continue to do so. Our hard decision now will be to decide if we want to stay in her newly acquired cottage next door which is equally charming, or look into off season availability which I understand is coming next year!

Cute and cozy... Great location too!

  • 4 of 5
I loved this cabin! It was cozy and very clean. The kitchen was stocked with all the pots and pans and dishes you could want. The gas fireplace in the living room was great on a chilly night. I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Great location very close to the town center and an easy jumping off point for adventures on Great Island, Provincetown and many beaches. Highly recommended!

Lovely cottage but BEWARE!!!!

  • 2 of 5
The cottage is everything everyone says except it is not handicapped or wheel chair accessable as stated. Also, things were not as well stocked as stated but the problem is with the owner. She tried to take our security deposit for things she said we stole and damaged and also for extra cleaning fees above and beyond what we already paid, which were not true.

She had neighbors actually watching us and reporting to her things that were not the way they made it sound. There was supposed to be fire wood, a working gas grill and DVD players; there were not.

The patio is almost impassible for an elderly or handicapped person. There was no way a wheelchair would fit into the house and the bathroom was impassible with a walker even. The parking areas were too far away and we were told we would be fined for parking on the grass; even just to be picked up or dropped off.

Nevertheless, it was a lovely cottage and beautiful area just be very careful dealing with the owner. Also, know that you may not get your security deposit back.

Owner's Response: I have always believed that a generous, kind, honest and reasonable approach could solve any issues that might arise with renters. In the 14 years that I have rented my cottage, I have never needed to ask for reimbursement for damages during a renter's stay until now. When I approached this renter about the damage to the walls, the broken wooden flower barrel, the movies charge to my Comcast account, and the extra cleaning charge I incurred from my cleaners, she canceled her security deposit check. There was no reimbursement to me for the damages. When she denied that these were her responsibility, communication became so difficult that I decided not to pursue it any further with her. A neighbor did call me during their stay to say they witnessed the car crashing into the wooden flower barrel and that they were parking their car on the front lawn in the no parking zone. Even after this experience, I want you to know that I still believe that a generous, kind, honest and reasonable approach will solve most problems
Kind regards,
Rosemary
