A true Cape Codder. My ancestors came over from England on the Confidence in 1637. My great .......grandfather, Augustine Bearse, married Princess Mary Hyanno. Hyannis was named after her and also several streets in the Town of Barnstable were named after my family .
I inherited this property from my father who passed away in 1997. Our house was built in 1658, the rental cottage in the rear of the property was built in 1949 and completely renovated when we acquired this property. My family - Mom, Dad, sister and I would rent our house in Osterville and spend summers in this cottage when we were young. Back then we had an icebox on the deck and the current bedroom was divided in two.
Thank you for all you did to make our stay on the Cape so much fun. The cottage was adorable, Bob really liked the outdoor shower and we enjoyed candlelight dinners on the deck. We could go on forever about the things we enjoyed but just wanted to thank you again for everything. Hard to get used to the Texas heat after the beautiful weather on Cape Cod!
This year, my husband and I will be renting this beautiful cottage for the third year in a row --- we absolutely love it! It's quite, well-appointed, very clean, and so close to our favorite beach on the Cape, Craigville Beach. You can certainly walk there in ten minutes or so, but Nancy and Bill also provide a beach pass to put in the vehicle so that you can park at the beach for free. We love our time at the cottage because it is so relaxing. The owners are wonderful and are always helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. One feature that we adore is the outdoor shower. We love all the flowers and plants in the yard and the fact that the area is wonderful to walk around. There is an awesome ice-cream parlor in the area - about a five-minute walk from the cottage, and a delightful country store. We come to this cottage to get away from everything, relax, spend countless hours on the beach, do some reading in the hammock, and enjoy some grilling on the deck. This summer we are coming back for two weeks, and we both can't wait to be there. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone who is in search of a relaxing getaway on the Cape. The kitchen is also well-stocked, and we usually make breakfast at the house, enjoy lunch at the beach (Nancy and Bill kindly provide beach chairs and a cooler, so it's easy to bring foodies to the beach), and then make something delicious for dinner at the cottage. The whole experience of staying at this cottage is fantastic! Very highly recommended!
Thank you Nancy and Bill! We were delighted with our two weeks on Cape Cod in your enchanted cottage by the sea. The grounds were lovely and quiet, we enjoyed the dancing fairy lights hanging in the trees and eating outside on the deck. The kitchen contained everything we needed or could possibly think of and the outside shower was enjoyed by all after a day at the beach. The location was private but close to the beach, penny candy and ice cream, all the delights of a great vacation! Thank you again and hope to see you next year!
My boyfriend and I staying in this cottage this past summer for a week and it was very clean, adorable, comfortable and relaxing. It was very private as well. It was very close to Hyannis and we were right down the road from #7 of the top 10 ice cream parlors in the country (4 Seas Ice Cream). We also loved that it was in the center of Cape Cod, so we easily were able to take day trips to Provincetown, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. We highly recommend renting this cottage! No complaints here!
One mile to beautiful Craigville Beach - walk to famous Four Seas Ice Cream, churches, country store, library. Laundromat, pharmacy, grocery store 1 mile - 2 miles from Main Street Hyannis with quaint shops, restaurants, walkway to the sea, ferries to Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard, fishing boats - 3 miles from Cape Cod Mall.
