Our aim is to make booking your holiday at Villa Manzara as simple as possible. We can help you with flight details, car hire arrangements and useful local information to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
Eating Out: Eating out is one of the great pleasures in Northern Cyprus and vsitors will be spoilt for choice with the huge number of restaurants available, at least seven in the small village of Bellapais alone and hundreds more throughout the Kyrenia area. Turkish cuisine is always plentiful and inexpensive and an absolute 'must' to try, but there are plenty of English, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants too. Recommendations from both the owners and visitors will be found in the information pack left at the villa.
Flights and Car Hire: FLIGHTS. We can offer help with competitive car hire prices from our local car hire company. Please contact us if you need advice about flights and local attractions.
CAR HIRE. A car is essential as public transport is limited. We strongly recommend pre- booking your car. We can offer competitive rates, excellent service including free airport transfers and a wide range of vehicles. Your car will be delivered on your first morning when payment may be made in Sterling or Euros or with a debit or credit card. Please contact us for further details.
The local car hire comany can provide a taxi service to local locations, and several restaurants offer free local pick up and drop off services.
We were delighted to find that Manzara looked even better than the photos on the website, because the garden has further matured and is full of greenery/scents/colour and very private. Given we were staying in late August, the pool became a vital accessory rather than a luxury! The position of the house is marvellous, with wide views from balconies on both the ground and upper floors, so breakfast and evening drinks were spent on different levels to enjoy the sunsets and the shade. We particularly liked the fact that this house felt like a family home rather than a holiday let, with correspondingly comprehensive equipment and a mini-library. Everything worked well and was in good condition. Barbara manages the property very well - she visited just the first morning which was perfect. The owners were also most helpful with their responses to emails before we left. The house is in a great location - it is much preferable to be in the hills of Bellapaix than down in the heat of Kyrenia, and it was astonishingly quiet - perhaps we were lucky that not many of the neighbours seemed to be there at the same time as us. Many of the historic sites were within an hour's drive or less and extremely interesting. And the local people are charming and very friendly. Different colour neighbouring cats visit occasionally, plus a hedgehog at night! If I am totally honest, I would say that the restaurants we tried in Bellapaix itself were rather touristy - with mainly English guests, but Kyrenia has a big choice and other local villages are easily reached by car. Buying local produce and eating in was a great pleasure anyway - and we used the BBQ. I should add that the village store is pretty good for most things, including delicious bread, charcoal, and watercooler bottles, and even cheaper than some of the larger supermarkets: the young owner was more than helpful. I only wish I had bought stamps from Barbara's shop (in the next door village) as I could not get them anywhere! As you can tell, we had a really enjoyable holiday, and a lot of that is due to the fact that this is a special, well-loved villa.
We spent a very enjoyable two weeks at the Manzara villa in August 2013. The villa was perfect for our two families of 10 in total (4 adults and 6 children aged 9-16 years). The children all had a fantastic time in the pool and chilled out in the TV room when temperatures were too hot outside. For the adults the villa was also excellent with plenty of space around the pool and on the balconies for relaxing. The upper balcony was particularly good with great views down to the coast. We spent many evenings chatting (while sipping wine and the excellent local beer 'Efes') and admiring the views and shooting stars from the upper balcony.
At lunchtime and most evenings we ate from the table adjacent to the pool and BBQ. The location of the outside table with shade provided by the floral canopy was great for eating and relaxing. Also being on the hillside meant that there was a welcome cooling breeze from time to time through the villa. The villa's location, a short 15min walk from Bellapais village and its ancient Abbey, is also a great plus point. The village shop was handy for topping up supplies and the village has a good selection of restaurants and bars. We particularly enjoyed the 'Bella Moon' which serves traditional Turkish food in a fantastic courtyard setting at quite reasonable prices.
As for days out, we enjoyed a trip to the Greek/Roman ruins at Salamis, seeing the baby Turtles on the nearby Alagadi beach and exploring the back-streets of Kyrenia (Girne). Our best day out was spent on a boat trip from Kyrenia harbour (Harbour Boat Tours - the one recommended in the extensive local information at the villa). The trip took us along the coast for swimming and snorkelling at several different locations and included an excellent lunch prepared by Musty - our captain - in the tiny galley kitchen. Fish, chicken, chips and an array of side dishes. More than even our hungry teenagers could eat. We had the boat to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.
Fantastic villa in a great setting which played a big part in a thoroughly enjoyable holiday from which we all have lasting and fond memories. So much so we are planning to return next year for more.
The Barnett and McConville families.
Had a brilliant holiday at Manzara Villa during the xmas 2012 season. Rented the property for 9 days, along with my wife, parents, and sister and boyfriend. The villa was fantastic, clean, comfortable, free wifi and mobile phone, heating, etc. The only downside was that the weather was quite (unexpectedly) cool, so we were unable to use the pool (but did manage a dip in the Med one day). The villa had heaters and a fireplace and was perfectly cozy. Top picks for things to do:
- Dinner at Bellapais Gardens (£££) or Erol's (££), and lunch at the Abbey (£).
- Get a drive to Bunavente Castle (which is spectacular) and hike back to the Villa through and over the mountains (about 12km and fairly strenuous).
- Day trip to Golden Sands (2.5 hours drive each way) to see a marvellous beach.
- A day in Nicosia to see the fascinating Green Zone, UN peacekeepers, market shopping, etc.
The villa's owners helped to arrange pick up at Ercan airport and car hires in Bellapais... all was seamless.
This is a really fantastic villa. There were eight people in our party and there was more than enough space for all of us to either be together and for each person to have their private space as well. You could either be in the sun or choose to be in the shade (which at times was very important)
We have been to North Cyprus five times and this was the best villa that we have rented.
The villa is as described on the website and was very well equipped. The location was brilliant and the views spectacular. The property was clean and well maintained, garden contained mature plants and the pool was very private.
Bellapais village is worth exploring and has some good restaurants but our favourite was the Bella Moon which is family run and they were very friendly and helpful
Had two great weeks - 4 adults and 4 teenagers (16+). Villa is extremely well equipped and spacious, with lovely outdoor space/seating areas. Great barbeque too!
Barbara, who manages the house, was helpful and Bellapais Car Rental very efficient and friendly-,for both airport transfer and car hire.
We visited Bellapais most days for a drink or meal - we encountered few other tourists and found the locals very welcoming. Loved it! Had a couple of evenings in Kyrenia, more commercialised here but very attractive. Good shopping too.
Tried out a few beaches - usually about 4pm onwards, as it was so hot earlier. Our favourite was the closest - Diana - with the hermit crabs. If you want to go turtle watching, you need to book at least a week in advance in the peak season.
Six of us stayed in Manzara for 2 weeks. My self and my husband, my daughter (43) my son (46) and my brother and my sister in law. We found it very beautifull, very spacious and we all like our own space. It would still be very spacious for 10 people. The location is just perfect. Lovely views from the terraces and a short walk into Bellapise with 3/4 very good places to eat. We hired a car, which we believe is necessay. When we arrived at Manzara it was very clean and it is very well kept. The pool and the surrounding gardens are just lovely. The owners provide a really good customer service with a small company that they use in Bellpaise. We had a couple of small problems whilst there and they where handled very quickly and efficiently. Contact with the owners with regard to the booking and any help we required where excellant. We holiday in Bellapaise at least every two years, we will not be looking for any where else to stay now that we have found Manzara.
Bellapais, a ten minute walk away, is situated on the hillside in the foothills of Five Finger Mountains with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. Bellapais, immortalised by Laurence Durrell's 'Bitter Lemons', offers several restaurants, gift shops and a general 'corner shop'. The local (good) car hire office & taxi service is also located in Bellapais. The area affords excellent opportunities for walkers. It is a ten minute drive to the harbour town of Kyrenia, twenty five minutes to the capital Nicosia, and twenty minutes from the nearest beaches, where turtles lay eggs. The Ercan airport is 45 minutes away, and Larnaca airport is 70 minutes away.
Just down the hill from the property there is a supermarket on the main road leading into Kyrenia. 5 mins further down the road is a big supermarket with everything you will need, including local SIM cards. There is a 'Pay as you go' mobile available for our guests.

Other Activities: Sitting under the 'Tree of Idleness' & just chilling out with the locals....
Golf: Korineum Golf & Country Club
It’s been a long time coming, but the new Esentepe golf course in Northern Cyprus is well worth the wait. This is located approximately 15 minutes drive from the villa. The Esentepe golf course is not just the first 18 hole golf course in North Cyprus, but a truly international course designed to the highest standards. The course covers some 6600 yards with elegant greens, tricky sand bunkers and water hazards, set amongst olive trees and with the natural beauty of the Northern Cyprus Kyrenia Mountains as a stunning backdrop. You can also practice your swing at the 30 bay driving range, or brush up of your skills with the help of a qualified instructor at the golf academy. If all that exercise makes you hungry, you can dine at the elegant restaurant, or sip a cooling drink at the clubhouse bar.
Turtle bay (Alagadi) is a short drive away, this is a protected area as loggerhead and green turtles use it to lay their eggs. There is a visitors centre which operates from 6pm onwards when you can go and watch the turtles.
