LA GAVINA 3 bedroom, ALOSA 2 bedroom and L'ORENETA 1 bedroom apartments

These three apartments are situated in a lovely Mediterranean cove on the south side of Collioure and have magnificent unrestricted views across the bay. The cove is a paradise for swimming, diving, and snorkelling or just relaxing on the beach. You will fall asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks below. There are two beaches on the residence which offer the possibility of an early morning swim or an evening dip before dinner on the terrace. The apartments are 20 minutes walk to the centre of Collioure where you will be spoilt for choice with the range of restaurants, cafes and art galleries, a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. 15 mins walk takes you into historic Port Vendres established in 6BC and home of the famous fish market and great restaurants. The apartment has a space in the communal lock-up garage. An electronic key is provided.

One of the best holidays ever!

For three weeks we had rented this great appartment in Collioure. It is never sure what to expect when one rents an appartment without actually knowing the owners, knowing the location or having seen the appartment. We were not disappointed at all. In fact it was better than we would have hoped for. The beach in front of the appartment is great. It has pebbles but also a lot of sandy spots, ideal for children, also because of the size of the beach, losing small children is not possible. Snorkling is great, the clear blue water is full of beautiful fish. Port Vendres and Collioure are both at walking distance. The appartment was fully equipped. Everything was there, incl. baby chair, snorkling gear, games, music, dvd player, washing machine, every coocking utensil you could ever think of. A trip to Barcelona or Figueres is easily made. The fishmarket in Port Vendres was a great place to buy fish and shellfish. France has become rather expensive, but the market in Port Vendres offers good products for a reasonable price (comparing is to be advised)... The scenery is stunning, let alone the view from every window of the appartment. The owners were very friendly, helpful and hospitable. We have had a magnificent holiday with our two small children and will certainly return.

Owner to the rescue

We stayed in La Gavina for ten days, but nearly had to fly home early because one of us developed a serious eye problem after three days. The owner of the property, Sheila Taylor, came to the rescue and found us an eye specialist locally, who identified the problem and prescribed treatment. This tided us over until we got back to the UK, but without Sheila's help the holiday would have been a total disaster. As to the apartment itself, it was all that we wanted and more, and the local area gave us plenty of opportunities to explore among the vineyards and villages, even if some of the back roads were pretty hair-raising. The Fish Market in Port Vendre is not to be missed, and the local Lidl and Carrefour supplied all our needs, supplemented with food from the local markets. The local town of Ceret is well worth a visit if you are an art-lover, and Collioure has a fascinating history.

Superb!

La Gavina apartment is absolutely fabulous and exceeded all my expectations. It is beautifully furnished with 2 balconies and a very new kitchen with all mod cons and utensils. The beach below is far nicer than the actual Collioure beach in the town. You just walk down the internal stairs and out the door and you are there! The walk into Collioure or Port Vendre is only a maximum of 15 minutes - in both directions its an easy walk and glorious scenery. We are both in our mid 60's and enjoyed the walk into Collioure for dinner and home again - no effort. Parking is easy and nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town itself, but still have the advantage of a breathtaking view of the town.
We had the pleasure of meeting Sheila the owner who was a delight and extraordinarily helpful. I would recommend a stay at La Gavina to anyone - you will not be disappointed.

Breath taking veiws.

Shelia is a wonderful hostess. The apartment has amazing views and is right on the beach. The kitchen is new with amazing appliances. If you love to cook you will enjoy doing so while looking out at the cove. There is a grocery with in walking distance. Collioure and Port Vendres are both very close with fun restaurants and fun things to see. Shelia was very helpful and available to help with any questions you have. Her information packet is full of places to eat and fun things to do, yet you will be so happy doing nothing. I would recommend.this apartment to anyone.

When booking a holiday I am never suitably wary of estate agents lenses that make views nearer / larger / better than they are. Normally as soon as I arrive for a holiday my minds eye vision is deflated. However, pictures can't do justice to the scene beneath your window at Gavina. I had read a review when thinking of booking the apartment that there was a road beneath the window and had worried about this. At the apartment the only thing beneath you is sand and sea. The apartment has everything we needed and was functional in a homely way. I almost hate recommending this in case one of you steals a date we might want as we will absolutely be returning!

Perfect for us!

What a special place! Perfectly situated between Collioure and Port Vendres, and overlooking a very quaint beach that is predominantly used by residents of Les Roches Bleus or locals. You hear almost no traffic noise! Clean, fresh air and the sound of waves is the order of the day.

This was our second stay in the apartment, and we were pleased to find several upgrades that made a beautiful apartment even better. The kitchen has been renovated with excellent appliances. We love to cook with the wonderful produce that is available in the local markets, and we were lacking nothing in her kitchen.

The living room and bathroom have also been freshened/upgraded. The beds are very comfortable and makes for perfect sleeping conditions.

Sheila or Remy were on hand for our every query, and happy to impart their local knowledge.

Our ultimate endorsement is that we have already booked it again for next year!

Collioure, is a beautiful,ancient and atmospheric town built around the medieval castle and port. Picasso, Matisse and Derain painted here. When you have experienced the quality of the light you will realise why. Visit the vineyards and taste the local wines. Stroll around the harbour and sit at one of the restaurants or cafes and enjoy the views, people watching and local artists at work. Visit the medieval castle. Soak up the history and the superb views from the battlements. Equally rewarding is a stroll around the harbour at Port Vendres which is a busy commercial, fishing and yacht harbour. A visit to the superb fish market is a must as are the restaurants. Port Vendres has been a busy harbour since 6BC. Motor boat trips are good or try a day out on the traditional sailing schooner Treguern including barbecue lunch and a swim in a secluded Spanish cove. Nearby includes:Cathar Castles, Dali Museums at Figueres and Cadaques, medieval Girona, Barcelona, medieval city of Carcasonn

The sleeping accommodation is flexible with a double bedded room, a high bunk and a single bed and a good quality bed settee in the living room which many groups use as a dedicated 3rd bedroom. The dining area to the end of the kitchen is often used as a place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening and watch the lovely sunsets across the bay. Wifi available...please order before arrival.
