Burradon Farm is a working farm of some 400 acres at the heart of which lies the 14th century Pele Tower, the farm house, the terraced farm cottages and a fine range of traditional stone conversions.

All of the original farm buildings have been converted to create luxury, self-contained, self catering houses and cottages for the visitor, holiday-maker or business person. There are spacious houses that will sleep from 5-8 people, quality ground floor cottages for 4, pretty one double bedroomed cottages, fully accessible disabled friendly cottages and best value farm cottages that will sleep 4 comfortably. All houses and cottages have a secured WiFi internet connection.

At Burradon Farm the new barn conversions have retained the original stone work and features and become spacious, stylish and comfortable houses and cottages. The houses and cottages are in courtyard formation opposite the Pele Tower and Farm House and each benefits from close proximity to good car parking facilities and well tended garden areas. The setting is quiet and tranquil and there are fine views northwards over fields and eastwards towards the sea.

Burradon Farm is conveniently located only a few miles from the spectacular Northumbrian coastline but also within easy access of the cultural heritage and dynamic centre which is Newcastle Gateshead. The International Ferry Terminal is five miles and the Newcastle International Airport only seven miles away. We're minutes from the A19 and the A1 is less than four miles away, perfect for exploring the great North East.

The private farm road leads to the farm houses and cottages which are at the centre of a 400 acre working farm. There are public footpaths and cycle ways through the fields and the nearest post office, shops and pubs are a short 10 minute walk away in Burradon village.

By car the A19 and A1 are easily accessed. Local buses from the end of the farm road offer regular services to Newcastle and the Metro network.

Locally there are swimming pools, multi-screen cinemas, ice-skating rink, golf and race courses. Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, Newcastle United Football Club, Sunderland AFC and Gateshead International Sports Stadium are a short drive away.

There are many tourist attractions nearby which include the glorious beaches of Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. Royal Quays Shopping Outlet, Wet 'n' Wild and the International Ferry Terminal are also nearby. Within half an hours drive visitors have easy access to Northumberland's wonderful castles, stately homes and gardens such as Alnwick Castle, Wallington Hall and Cragside House. Beamish Open Air Museum, Hadrian's Wall and the Roman Forts are also nearby and northwards there are the coastal villages of Bamburgh, Seahouses and the historic Holy Island.

The jewel in the crown is the closeness to Newcastle Gateshead and the varied shopping experiences at the Metrocentre and Eldon Square. The vibrant city of Newcastle is a blend of museums, monuments, bridges and art galleries with new innovations such as Grainger Town, the Baltic Art Gallery and exciting new developments on the Quayside. Newcastle also boasts an excellent array of sophisticated wine bars, stylish pubs and restaurants.

Notes

  • Online bookings require a deposit of 50% of the total cost to be paid at the point of booking. The balance must be paid 14 days prior to the first day of the arranged stay. A reminder email will prompt the payment of the balance.

    All the major credit and debit cards can be accepted and the transaction processed upon receipt of the card number, expiry date, security code and address of the applicant. Bookings made by telephone or email with these details can pay the deposit of 50% of the total cost by card.

    Cheque payments take days to process. An online or card payment may take your required dates. Your booking is secure when you receive a receipt.

    In all cases, the final 50% payment is due 2 weeks before the commencement of the visit.
    Nonpayment of the balance will be construed as cancellation of the booking
  • The Proprietors reserve the right to alter the booking arrangements in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If cancellation by the proprietor is necessary the monies received shall be returned in full.

    The cottages are available from 2pm on the day of arrival. If your arrival is expected to be between 2pm and 3.30pm please call at the office to collect the keys.

    At the end of your visit, please vacate by 10am and bring the keys to the farm house.

    Change over day is usually on Saturdays, but some houses and cottages have been allocated a Friday changeover. By prior arrangement, changeover day can be any day of the week except Sunday.

    Up to 2 weeks before the start date of a visit it may be possible to alter a booking for which there will be an administration charge of £40.00
  • If you have to cancel your stay, please notify immediately and every effort will be made to re-let the property.

    There will be a refund of the deposit paid up to 6 weeks before the start day of your stay if you have to cancel your booking. This operates in the event of your having to cancel your visit because of a bereavement or sickness in the family or any similar unforeseen occurrence outside your control which prevents you taking your holiday or cottage stay.

    There will be a refund of 50% of all monies paid up to 3 weeks before the start date of your stay if you have to cancel the booking. If the stay is cancelled in the period leading up to 3 weeks days before the start date of the visit, no monies shall be refunded.

    Please note that only 1 well behaved dog is permitted in any one property at a weekly charge of £20 to cover the cost of additional cleaning
