4 Large Bedrooms, Shower Room And Bathroom, Bucket And Spade Cottage

Westdene is situated up an unmade, private roadway. It has light and spacious accommodation for 8 people with all mod-cons, including dishwasher, Freeview TV/DVD, library of DVD's and paper backs, microwave, washing machine, stereo. Full central heating.

We, as a family, have been visiting Thorpeness for over three generations and still have not run out of things to do. There's boating on the Meare, with its many exciting islands to visit, e.g. Smugglers' Cave and Pirates' Lair. You can take a rowing boat, sailing boat, punt, kayak, canoe or a two oars and cox. Two fantastic golf clubs, one within walking distance. Great food at the Dolphin Inn, only a few minutes walk away. Tennis courts, literally, across the road. The beautiful beach, which is still so undiscovered and yet very stunning. Minsmere for the bird watchers. Aldeburgh and Snape for the cultured and the shoppers. Two cinemas within two miles for the rainy days, not that you get many of them to the East of the country and a local swimming pool. The walks are fabulous and Thorpeness has its own House in the Clouds, which is a must see!

The house itself you can't help but feel at home in:-

- Ground floor: living/dining room with open fire, kitchen, utility room, fitted kitchen, twin bedroom, double bedroom, wc, bathroom with bath, wc and shower.

- First floor: Twin bedroom (one single and one small double), double bedroom, shower room with wc.

- Outside: Enclosed, enormous south-facing garden with trampoline, slide/swings, patio area and BBQ.

There is ample parking at the front of the house.

You will not be disappointed!

I have been coming to Thorpeness since I was a baby, to stay with my Grandparents, who also visited Thorpeness when they were young. I feel most relaxed when I walk in the door at Westdene and have spent many hours on the beach, tennis courts and rowing round the Meare.

Julie Bourne purchased this house in 1974

Thorpeness is unique, no where else has so many attractions for both the young and the old, do not miss out on this one off experience.

Lord Ogilvy built Thorpeness in the 1920's, copying beautiful areas he'd seen around Europe, this is one of the most picturesque parts of the world, with a never-ending list of things to do. Or you can put your feet up in front of the fire or in the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our family has been holidaying at 'Westdene' for three generations and it just gets better every year! Whatever time you choose to visit this unique part of Suffolk, there is a never ending list of things to do.

For families there's our huge garden and all the attractions of Thorpeness are within walking distance; the Meare, where you can hire boats and explore the many islands, the Windmill, House in the Clouds, tennis courts at the Country Club and of course the beach.

The Golf Club with its challenging 18-hole links course is nearby as is the Dolphin Pub which has a garden and offers great food.

Two miles away is beautiful Aldeburgh, packed with excellent restaurants, shops and the best fish and chips in Suffolk!
