The apartment has flat off street parking right outside the private entrance. Open the door and step on to a spacious wrap around deck where the views are magnificent; the island of St. Croix to the south and some small cays, Capella Island and Buck island to the west…the sunsets are brilliant!
A 5-minute stroll down to Secret Harbour Beach and you will find a wonderful restaurant, friendly beachside bar serving delightful tropical drinks and cold beers, a dive shop/water sports center; all nestled amongst huge palm trees and soft white sand.
The Unique Benefits of being on the residential east end of St. Thomas and at Nazareth Hideaway…
Red Hook village is only a 3-minute drive away, where you have access to many other fun events. You are close enough to enjoy all of Red Hook’s amenities, including a variety of bars and fine restaurants, grocery shopping, cafés, and ferries to other islands; like St. John and Tortola. Or, maybe you would enjoy having a private skipper and boat available for special trips; like a day trip to one of the islands.
Within a 7-minute drive you have access to many beaches, hotels and great restaurants. Lounge on your large deck overlooking the ocean and watching the most beautiful sunsets or dine under the stars with twinkling lights across the water.
To entertain you in the evenings, we have provided you with Cable/Satellite TV: 32' LCD TV with Cable/200+channels in the living room and free WIFI. The living area joins the open fully equipped kitchen. Outdoor dining is just outside on the deck. Outdoor chairs and chaise lounges await you for sunbathing or just relaxing.
You will enjoy the natural beauty and friendliness of the area. Your host has lived on island for more than 30 years and is available to help make your vacation special!
Jan, your hostess has been “on island” for many years and available to assist make your vacation the best ever. Jan writes cookbooks, articles for magazines on cooking, boating and travel. Coordinates Culinary Contests and vacations on yachts. She will be happy to arrange dives, tours, day sails and other local excursions that you may enjoy to do in 'paradise'.
The Owner purchased this house in 2001
After 12 years of being on a yacht taking guests out on vacation, we sold the boat and bought here. I missed boating, but especially missed helping people enjoy their vacation. The apartment is a great place to lay back and enjoy the Island life in the best location. East End of St. Thomas is convenient to everything - restaurants, cafés convenience stores, night life, charter boats and the ferry to St. John and the British Virgin Islands.
Putting your feet up and enjoying the view and the breeze. Or, a stroll to the beach and snorkel the reef, have a cool drink and watch the amazing sunsets.
New England winters can be filled with snow.........lots of snow. So again I traveled to St. Thomas to get a healthy dose of vitamin D, recharge my batteries, and re-connect with my inner beach bum. This year I found Nazareth Hideaway located close to Redhook and near Secret Harbor. It has the perfect mixture of serenity, privacy, and local flavor. Jan was a delight to discuss plans with and ask questions over the phone.
My niece and I found the deck to be spacious and comfortable for relaxing and sunbathing in the gentle breeze. It is perfect for the early morning sun goddess (me) to bask in the sun and reflect on life while the roosters awaken the island. The bedroom is comfortable and the fan a delight for those who may need a few more zzz's. The kitchen has everything you need to re-heat your tasty ITP pizza, cook a meal, keep frosty beverages on hand, and even make coffee to start your day off. You can enjoy the couch inside and watch tv, but I preferred the deck chairs and watching the sun roam across the sky.
I was only disappointed to not connect with Jan in person as she was off with the Paralympic sailing team in Miami while we were in town. Thanks to New England's weather patterns (Yay! - snow storms are fun when you are here!) our stay was extended and we were able to meet and enjoy Jan's company. She was a gracious hostess and filled with ideas if we needed them. A person you would love to chat over a glass of wine with anytime. (thanks for the wine!) She was key to our smooth transition for extra days of lodging. We appreciated her help and felt so lucky that we didn't even have to worry or scramble around. Instead, we were able to relish our two extra days of deliciously hot sun, warm turquoise waters, and cold banana rum. Ahhhh.......until the islands call me back again............thank you for a wonderful stay.
I look forward to another return to visit with Jan. Staying at Nazareth Hideaway allows you a comfortable space to relax when you need a little "me" time. I'll be back...........
The Hideaway made my month in St. Thomas this year even more memorable. It's exactly as you see it, and what you can't see are the stars at night, the sunsets, the view from bed across the deck out to the Caribbean. And the quiet, the quiet nights (versus in town at Red Hook!). Just above Secret Harbour, good for a walk down and a swim every afternoon. Jan is a gracious hostess and will help in any way she can if you have any problems or questions. Or join her, she has a busy life, always up to something exciting, and enjoys company. She is always available of you need something. Property location is ideal, near Red Hook and the ferries to St. John and the BVI, restaurants and etc. Hated to leave. Already planning the next escape. I recommend a car on St. Thomas but actually you could do without at the Hideaway. Red Hook and Secret Harbour are close enough to be walkable even given the hills and the road widths. Just be prepared to step off into the bushes! Try the night kayaking at Marriott Frenchman's Cove (you would need a car) or new this year, at St. John Cruz Bay. Fish Tails in Red Hook always good too. Thanks again, Jan!
The Nazareth Hideaway is a good place to stay on St. Thomas. We stayed for a week in November. The owner is delightful. She is a Food and Travel Writer/Consultant, and a Yacht Culinary Contest Coordinator. If she is on the island she stays in the house adjacent to the apartment. She will not infringe on your privacy but you will enjoy talking with her. Her years as a yacht captain provides a wealth of stories. The pictures on the website of the apartment are accurate. We did not rent a car and we probably should have. Although for $5 a person per trip, a cab will take you around … and that can be cheaper than a car rental plus you don’t have to deal with the traffic and unfamiliar roads.
The owner took my wife and I down to Linquist Beach. We returned there several times as it became our favorite place. The 10 minute walk from the apartment down to Secret Harbour was an easy walk for us and the bar and restaurant were a good place for lunch or dinner. We had gotten into the swing of spending the morning on the deck and then, when the day begin to heat up, we would go to Secret Harbour. We would swim, get an umbrella and chairs and read and then either eat lunch or dinner there before walking back up the hill to the apartment.
The microwave, gas stove and refrigerator make eating breakfast and lunch easy. There are pots and pans to prepare more complex meals if you want. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the deck overlooking Secret Harbour. I would suspect that Jan would provide about anything you needed if you asked.
You can catch a cab down to Red Hook and with the ferry be over to St. Johns in a short time. If you want to explore more of St. Thomas, it is about 20-30 minutes back to Charlotte Amalie.
We just returned from a wonderful stay at Jan's apartment at Secret Harbour. We have an incredible time. The apartment is very comfortable and has all you will need for a short visit or extended stay on St. Thomas.
The walk down to the beach at Secret Harbour took us seven minutes at a relaxed pace. We looked around at a variety of places before booking with Jan and we were glad at the decision we made. She was an absolutely wonderful host. She immediately made us feel like old friends and was so kind in helping us plan our fun during our stay.
We did not rent a car while on the island and we found that the taxi rates were quite reasonable. It was easy to get from Jan's place into Red Hook as well as a variety of beaches. We walked down into Red Hook to catch the ferry over to St. John and had a relaxing day at Trunk Bay. It was definitely worthwhile.
Would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for your hospitality, Jan!
My husband and i traveled to st thomas for my birthday and we had the best time !Jan is a great person , we enjoyed our stay the view of secret harbour beach from the patio is breath taking especially when the sun is setting . Jan was very nice she even took us to the ferry terminal so we didn't have to take a taxi . Wonderful home for a getaway ! The bed is very comfortable as well . I also recommend taking the ferry to St. John and visiting trunk bay beach it is very beautiful
I stayed in this wonderful apartment for a month, and I'm so sad to have to leave.
It has everything to make you feel right at home. It's so well-located..near all the best beaches, the lively Red Hook area for dining, and the ferry to St. John and other islands.
Plus, it has it's own very private wrap-around deck with views of the amazing sunsets!
The bed is extremely comfortable, and the full kitchen makes cooking-in very convenient.
Every morning I had breakfast on the deck, and saw many butterflies and hummingbirds.
You won't find a more friendly and gracious owner, and she can help you with suggestions for restaurants and other activities.
It also has free wi-fi and safe, onsite parking, and your own separate entrance.
I'm already counting the days until I can return!
Apartment is conveniently located near Red Hook Town, Restaurants, Cafés, Shopping, Grocery Stores and Ferries to St. John and British Virgin Islands. Five beautiful beaches within 5 minutes with great snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking.
