This house was a featured exhibit in the Nantucket Historical Association's 'Sconset Village. Hedges protect a bright, remodeled, 19th Century barn with a front lawn, gardens, and southern exposure. It's just a 2-minute walk to the ocean beach. The village includes a post office, 3 excellent restaurants, a sandwich shop, a grocery, and a liquor store. It's only one mile to a 100-year-old, 9-hole golf course and eight miles to the whaling town, with museums, galleries, shops and superb restaurants. A bicycle suffices for daytime transport; a shuttle bus serves the town & villages. The home sleeps 7 and includes a full bath, two half-baths and an outdoor shower.

The Atlantic Ocean beach is the key entertainment on this beautiful island, but its history is also extraordinary, it having been a major whaling port in the 19th Century. Many homes and business buildings date to that era. It's also an artists' colony and a splendid place to sail and fish. It's got many tennis courts, two public golf courses, and miles of cycling trails. Just walking in the village and breathing the ocean air can suffice.

Notes: Also enjoy: antique furniture, eclectic library, interesting history or lore in a marked binder. The house, Srail, was previously a club where locals and visitors told tall tales. It was famous as such and is (or was) a featured exhibit at the Nantucket Historical Society. If the exhibit is still up, it's worth the trip to town to enjoy not only the history of 'Sconset, but also the history of this house itself, including members of the club and their antics.
