This unique property is situated above beautiful Wailea Bay on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, one of the few white sand beaches on the island of Hawaii. This designer home is perfect for family and friends. It features newly hand-painted and hand-designed tiles that bring the tropics of the outdoors to the inside. The ocean view kitchen boasts hand-painted tiles and sea life. For your dining pleasure, there is an outdoor patio/lanai under the trees, just off the kitchen. This is a four bedroom home with four garden showers. One of the bedrooms is located in a private gazebo upstairs, and is open air screened gazebo above a private, artful courtyard. Very separate from rest of house.
Designed for outdoor living and relaxation. Each bedroom has it`s own sense of privacy and separate bath. Two hammocks swing between the palm trees to enjoy the views of the bay and water activities from complete serene privacy. The home itself is a piece of art work. Custom designed hand painted tiles create Hawaiian scenes from sandy beaches to tropical flowers. The tropical gardens offer beautiful settings for reading, relaxing and sun bathing. Fairly easy access into sandy bottom for swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, surfing and other ocean activities. We can recommend local vendors to rent your ocean toys!
The Bay is peaceful and is a great place to swim, snorkel and paddle board. We can offer you contacts to rent equipment and have it delivered to your home.
From one of our recent guests...
"Thanks so much, Pattie. We had the best time ever!! I definitely hope to come back again soon. Thank you so much for accommodating us on such short notice, too. It was a great house, and I cannot tell you how easy it was to find everything with the labeled drawers. We had one of the light bulbs burn out on the lanai, and I looked in the kitchen, found the drawer marked “light bulbs” and we were back in business. That was awesome!
I will definitely be in touch,"

Pattie Freeman, Real Estate Broker has been managing and renting this home since the Owner's purchased it. We have all since become close friends and enjoy the home when the family is at this villa. The families children have been coming there on a regular basis since they were 3 and 5 years old. They have a family tradition of spending days in the bay swimming and playing in the sand on the beautiful beach. Their family time is spent relaxing and at the home and cooking their own meals with the open air kitchen facing the bay. They find it a time to reconnect and get back to nature!
Pattie Freeman purchased this villa in 1995
The owner of this home chose it because of the superb location on Waialea Bay also known as Beach 69 in the small community of Puako between the Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea Resorts. The location is extremely private and has the feeling of remoteness with resorts near by. It is easy to get swim in this beautiful protected bay.
This home was designed for outdoor living with two outdoor dining patios facing the bay. Private garden showers add to the tropical experience of this home under the multitude of coconut palm trees and stars at night. Enjoy the glow of the moon and stars on the bay from your private setting and during the day watch snorkelers go by or join them to see the abundant sea life including Hawaiian Sea Turtles. The original tiled art work throughout the home is 3 dimensional and each bathroom and kitchen has it's own tropical theme. Very nice linens and good quality beds make for great sleep with the sound of the palm trees and lapping of the waves against the sandy beach! Two oceanside hammocks are part of the relaxing experience.
Our family spent Easter weekend here, and it was perfect! The home is oceanfront, but offers privacy from beach-goers at Beach 69. A short path from the home leads you into the shallow ocean with a white sandy bottom. We brought our kayak, and were able to get it in and out of the water with ease. Our family also snorkeled and fished - all right in front of the home. We swam with dolphins, manta rays and turtles. And all without worrying about stepping on rocks and wana. It was amazing!
The layout of the home also offered privacy from other guests. The main part of the home includes the master bedroom, but the other three guestrooms all have their own exterior entrances. This was great, as we were traveling with other adult couples. The dining tables outside were great for our morning coffee and evening BBQ's.
The grounds of the home are so relaxing - with green lawns and coconut trees. The hammocks were comfortable and we all took turns taking naps in them.
Another one of my favorite things was that every cabinet and drawer were labeled. This saved me from searching through the kitchen and bathroom trying to find things. I wish every property manager did this - it was much appreciated! Also, the fridge and spice cabinet were stocked with condiments and spices. This was a blessing, because it's hard to remember every little thing.
This home was great for our family, and I can't wait to go back. I only hope I get to stay longer next time!
Our stay with our family offered us so many options to enjoy the ocean, snorkel, relax in the hammocks, find a quiet space or gather for lunch and dinner around the big outdoor table! We cooked and BBQ'd together and had tons of fun! One of the best family vacations we have ever experienced and this was a very special time for us to be together to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary! Our two grandchildren had plenty of places to play in the grassy, shaded yard which faces the ocean. The sound of the soft waves relaxed us into a very sweet sleep every night. We will be back! Pattie arranged for a private chef for the celebration of our anniversary and next time we might have the chef every night!
We also treated ourselves to massages by professionals who came to our home and even a private yoga class! Aina Malia is one of the best kept secrets on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island!
Located on the South end of Waialea Bay with incredible views and access to this special bay. Swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, sunbathing, relax in a hammock.
