In Cala Liberotto, Viale Lungomare runs through the pine trees parallel to the coast. There is a gate to the garden from this street with direct access to the beach. Sandy coves and bays alternate with cliffs and rocky beaches.
From our sandy beach with shallow water and a sandy bottom, a walk north leads to Punta Ginepro, through magnificent landscapes, long stretches of sand and crystalline waters. Further on from the dunes of Punta Ginepro one can walk until the protected area of Bidderosa, a series of five large natural coves (especially recommended are the second, with a pond behind, dry during the summer and a destination for flocks of seagulls, birdwatching stations and dunes with junipers, and the fourth). This area is also accessible from inland, by car (limited access) or with free access on foot and by bike, on an amazing journey through the woods and along the banks of a lake. Also horseback riding is possible (www.sardegnaturismo.it/documenti/1_39_20060828155252.pdf).
For those who want to go south, a short walk leads to Cala Marzellinu, a small beautiful beach with white sand dotted with black rocks, with two small outcrops of rocks that emerge in the middle of the cove. Further on are some rust-colored cliffs, with very transparent waters, and then a black cliff begins, recommended for snorkellers. Here the tones of the emerald sea turn to cobalt blue, and seaweed meadows are home to thousands of little fish. But also a walking tour along the cliff is recommended, especially on days of stormy seas; from the top of the black cliffs the landscape is beautiful.
We also strongly recommend the boat trip from Orosei (a quarter of an hour by car) in the Golfo di Orosei; Cala Luna, Cala Marzellinu, Cala Sisine, Cala Goloritzé, the Bue Marino Caves are unforgettable places for anyone who has visited them (www.golfodiorosei.net/).
Orosei also offers opportunities for nightlife, with various festivals and fairs, and walks through the romantic streets and squares, as well as numerous restaurants and pizzerias. Restaurants, pizzerias, delis and bars, as well as entertainment venues, are also numerous in Cala Liberotto, the closest approx. 200 m from the house, where there is also a market. Other larger supermarkets are about a mile. An emergency medical service, a pharmacy and a police station are in the same area.
Very beautiful seaside sites, a short drive away, are also Berchida, Capo Comino, San Teodoro (to the north) and Osala, Cala Cartoe and Cala Gonone (to the south). In Cala Liberotto it is possible to rent bicycles and boats, there is a diving center (the other two are in Cala Ginepro and Orosei).
We can also provide information based on our experiences about guided tours in the wild mountains of Supramonte (www.supramonte.it/), trips on the Trenino Verde (small train, www.treninoverde.com/), trips to the islands of Tavolara (www.tavolara.it/), Caprera (www.lamaddalenapark.it/vivi-il-parco/isole/caprera), Asinara (www.parcoasinara.org/).
