|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The house is a typical building with beautiful vaulted ceilings in all rooms, recently renovated, decorated in a fresh style 'minimal chic' in which blend contemporary style and the one for the old, in an atmosphere Charming tuned with the delicate 'spirit of place'.
The apartment can accommodate up to 5 people, and consists of a kitchen / dining room fully equipped, two double bedrooms, two bathrooms with shower, a loft with a single bed (a comfortable futon Japanese), a small laundry room with washing machine , a small cloister. E 'equipped with heating, bed linen and towels, cookware, dishes, cutlery and any other useful accessory. In summer the rooms are naturally cool and do not need the air conditioner, which is still present in the smaller bedroom.
The apartment is located in the heart of the historical center of Lecce, in the Court of Armelline extremely quiet, which is just 50 meters from the main street and the beautiful church of St. Irene, historically regarded as the exact center of the ancient city.
Due to its extraordinary location, it is ideal for a pleasant and relaxing stay literally immersed in the fascinating beauty and vitality in the quiet of the old town of Lecce, in immediate contact with its picturesque baroque architecture, alleys, courts, the craft shops, the cafes and every other attraction cultural, artistic or entertainment of the ancient village and its lively nightlife.
E 'at the same time a perfect accommodation for those wishing to visit and discover the Salento: you can start every morning for a different tour to the beautiful town of Salento coast or to the beautiful inland towns, all within a few minutes of excellent road (Otranto, Santa Cesarea, Castro, Leuca, Gallipoli, Porto Cesareo ..., Acaya, Galatina, the Greek Salento Leuca Cape, ...), to return at the end of the day in your comfortable and beautiful house in the historic center and spend an evening in the beautiful belal 'Capital' of Salento.
"The Armelline" is taken care of by the owners, who live nearby and are happy to offer any assistance and information to make your stay as pleasant as possible, comfortable and interesting.
Le Armelline is a beautiful apartment on a side street in the charming baroque town of Lecce. Just a short walk from the main piazza, Le Armelline perfectly suited our needs.
Exquisitly furnished with both antique and modern pieces, the home has been renovated but retains several arched ceilings and touches of Lecce stone in its interior. It is also meticulously clean.
Entry to the apartment is through the bright and well-equipped kitchen which still has the vestiges of an ancient cistern in one corner. The large table is a great place to unwind and relax.
The two bedrooms on the main floor are generous in size with the master bedroom having an en-suite bathroom and a rear entry to a tiny, but lovely, courtyard. The second bedroom had two doors for privacy and a bathroom just across the hall. An additional small sleeping area is located in a loft in the rear of the home. A laundry room is located between the two bathrooms.
The town of Lecce is an architectural wonderland. Churches, restaurants, and shops are within easy walking distance of the apartment. Two restaurants that we particularly enjoyed were Feel Food and Osteria della Divina Provvidencia. A great place to unwind with coffee and fresh orange juice every morning and afternoon was Caffe della Lupa, a perfect place to sit and watch the daily "passeggiata."
Paola and Maurizio, our hosts, were gracious and helpful throughout our planning stages and after our arrival. They also arranged taxi services to and from the train station (grazie, Antonio) which was much appreciated.
Our hosts also greeted us with a basket full of goodies: coffee, Italian cookies, tarrali, and olive oil. Upon departure, they presented us with a handmade ceramic bowl in the same local pattern found in their kitchen - a wonderful memento of an unforgettable visit.
My husband and I stayed at Le Aremelline for the entire month of September as the start of our 3 month Italy trip. The apartment is really lovely and the location was ideal. Lecce is a beautiful city and everyday we discovered something new. As others have mentioned, the owners, Maurizio and Paola, and their lovely daughter Ci Ci are the best part. They are so considerate and accommodating, each request was responded to immediately. They are just delightful. The apartment is outfitted great, well maybe a few more knives would be good. During part of our stay we had friends come. It was a bit tight but we still loved it. Note that there is no living room, but the kitchen, bedrooms and baths are all spacious and there is a loft for a quiet get away. The weak WIFI was a bit of a challenge for us, but we found some good Internet cafés nearby. I just really enjoyed our entire time in Lecce and still dream about the beautiful domed ceiling in the bedroom!
We've just returned from a week-long stay in Lecce and Le Aremelline. The apartment exceeded our expectations and was the perfect location for our visit.
Very recently renovated to a very high standard, the apartment has all the modern conveniences while retaining the lovely details of the original structure. It was spotlessly clean and all of the essentials are covered, too -- the beds were comfortable, the plumbing was all update and new, the kitchen well-stocked with utensils and cutlery. While the WiFi could have been stronger, we found a nearby cafe where we could Skype, send photos, etc.
The apartment is right in the heart of Lecce's historic center, so it's just steps from everything you want to see and do. The purpose of our visit was a week-long program at a local cooking school, so we didn't eat at many of the nearby restaurants. However, there seemed to be no shortage of great places to dine, as well as bars and cafes.
Last, but definitely not least, Maurizio and Paola, the owners, were absolutely wonderful. Their warm welcome and attentiveness during our stay were very much appreciated.
Having rented numerous times throughout Italy, this was one of the best rental experiences I've had. Would definitely stay at Le Armelline again.
My family (wife, aunt, mother and myself) stayed at L'armelline for 14 days and we loved it! The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is excellent, in the historical center and close to the most interesting places. Lecce is a beautiful town with great architecture and good food.
But the best part of the experience were the owner, Paola and Maurizio, who were very welcoming and helpful in every aspect. Paola even helped us organized a pastry cooking class which was an amazing and fun experience for the entire family.
We wholeheartedly recommend L'armelline to anyone interested in experiencing Salento or Puglia!
There was a kind welcome from our hosts on arrival which continued throughout our stay - greatly appricated the welcome pack which included local coffee and espically the Olive Oil.
Apartment is well equipped and to a very high standard - everything you could wish for! - A "WOW" when you arrive and "Do we have to leave" at the end of our/your stay!
A special thanks to our hosts and the final thanks goes to Lecce - hidden wonder of Italy..,
The apartment is really special and makes an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful Baroque city. It is not only situated in the historic centre but forms a part of it; as the photos reveal – and they do not lie - it is made of the same honey coloured stone and breathes the same sympathetic ambience. Both apartment and city are delightful places to be.
The owners, Maurizio and Paola, have restored the apartment with loving care and their warm hospitality made us feel like friends rather than guests. Maurizio met us on the outskirts and guided us in, and on arrival were shown around by Paola, discovering to our surprise a generous welcome pack of two good bottles of Salento wine, olive oil, an assortment of local sweetmeats and pastries, with beer and water in the fridge.
The apartment was a pleasure to be in with beautifully laundered sheets and towels, comfortable beds, and individual packs of soap and shampoo in the bathrooms. It was incredibly spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. In a way, though, the apartment and its owners are all of a piece - you feel something special in the very first email and this unfolds into a total experience. By the time you arrive, you are welcomed as a person, not a generic guest, and perhaps it is this that makes the experience unique. In the North of Italy they say that the South is another country; if that is so, then Maurizio is a true ambassador of this ‘other country’ and he made us want to return, and experience more of it.
