Wonderful Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Shipwreck Cottage. It is really cute (much cuter than the pictures show) with new paint and nice decor. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice, and the two decks were fabulous. The decks are close to the neighboring homes, which wasn't a problem for us, but it didn't feel as private as other decks might, and is truly the only slightly negative thing I can even think of; everything else was so wonderful!

We've stayed on Alligator Point before, and we love the quiet and peaceful area. We were often virtually the only people on the island. A mini mart and restaurant are 15 minutes or so away. One of my favorite things about Alligator Point is that you can see both sunrises and sunsets over the water! I've never been to any other beach where we could see both over the water. And on the owner's pier across the street, the sunrise there was even more beautiful. We saw dolphins each day, enjoyed watching the birds, and even saw a tiny shark that washed up on the beach.

We didn't use the pool and tennis court this trip, but I would in the future if it was warmer and if we had racquets. Other reviewers have complained about the proximity of the pool to the other properties, but I don't think it would be a big deal at all. And you could not possibly beat the deal of being right on the beautiful, peaceful beach with all the amenities inside the home PLUS a pool and tennis court. Thanks so much for a wonderful, affordable getaway! It was just what our midwest souls needed! Can't wait to go back! Thanks, Barbara!

Whimsical weekend wonder!

We were looking for a short weekend stay on the beach in a place that was out of the way, affordable, scenic and comfortable. The Shipwatch Cottage definitely didn't disappoint. The home was cozy yet open with a beautiful view of the ocean.

Lucy (age 10): Hi my mom's description is boring, but mine is wonderful. I loved the beach house, It was comfy, the pool tasted like lemon cleaning supplies, which is good by the way, and we had alot of fun.

Ben (age 13): My sister had a bad use of commas. The house was very fun and the beach view of the stars was excellent. Also, they have a good range of things to do there and lots of fun cups.

Fun in Alligator Point

Our family loved the house and its easy access to the beach and the dock. The porches were great! The house was comfortable and clean. The owner was accessible and helpful in resolving internet connection problem. It is close to the other house but our neighbors were friendly and we had no conflict in using the pool and dock when they weren't using them. We were able to collect some fine specimens of shells and also enjoyed our field trip to Gulf Specimen Aquarium - so nice to be able to observe sea life without the crowds. We ate at Posey's and the oysters were reasonable and Good! There were a few things I wished the kitchen had (cookie sheet, blender, big pot for boil) and we would have used a grill, had it been available. Other than that we had a grand time at a reasonable cost for our short vacation.

Excellent beach cottage!

My family and I stayed at Shipwatch cottage for three nights in October. It was a perfect beach stay. The cottage is lovely. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent. The beach is beautiful. The decks overlooking the beach are great. We really hope to stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are really proud of the updates to our cottages that we have been able to provide this summer, with new linens, towels, comforters, etc. so we hope renters will take advantage of our special rates offered for the rest of the summer. The beach continues to be beautiful and our sand bars are wider than ever. The view from the top deck of ShipWatch Cottage is amazing.
