Private wooded setting on 80+ acres, pond, mountain views, spacious living room with wood stove, sun room. Beautiful mixture of antique & contemporary furnishings. Writing desks in every room for the contemplative visitor. Satellite TV, VCR, stereo with cassette and CD players. Jenn-Air stove and oven, microwave, and fully furnished kitchen. We even supply the cottage with good sharp knives for the gourmet cook! Grill, picnic table, hammocks and tire swing on the property. By the week or month from May 1-November 10. NOTE: In winter, this house is a full-season-ONLY rental. One set of tenants from December 1-April 30. NO SHORT TERM SKI RENTALS AVAILABLE FOR THIS HOUSE. The Cottage is already reserved for the 2009-2010 Winter season.

Nearest Train: Bellows Falls, Vt. at 30 Miles

10 minutes to Okemo, easy access Ascutney, Bromley and Killington/Pico. Wonderful walks in the woods, bicycling through back roads, holing up to read a good book (or write one!) Horseback riding is not far away, and there are several golf courses in the area. 30 minutes to Woodstock, perhaps for the fabulous brunch at the Woodstock Inn. Then dinner at Simon Pearce just a few miles farther on the road. The Children's Science Museum is less than an hour north, between Norwich and Hanover. Other villages to visit: Chester, Weston, Grafton, to name a few. Walk down the side road to the 20-mile stream and the flat rocks or a favorite swimming hole. Take your drinks and picnic to the dock at the small pond on the property and just enjoy the day. It's also a relaxing place to stay while helping your son or daughter consider colleges in the area! The area: Cavendish is a quiet town, located 7 miles from Ludlow and the Okemo Ski Resort. The Cottage at Stone Walls is situated on 75 acres outside of the village. There are many historic, tourist, and outdoor attractions in the area, but if you want peace and quiet, you have only to stay around the property and you will not be disturbed. Writing tables in every room, beautiful sunny views to inspire you. Plenty of room for your children to play and run around outside, tire swings, hammocks, etc.

References: I would be happy to put you in contact with previous guests of the Cottage, many of whom return year after year.

Ski: Okemo Ski area is about 10-15 minutes from here.. Also within an hour are Killington, Bromley, Stratton, and Magic Mountain Ski areas. We are approximatelly 2 hours from Stowe.

Golf: I am not a golfer, but know there are golf courses in the area (Woodstock, Weathersfield, Ludlow/Tyson). I'd be happy to help you if this is what you are interested in doing during your visit.

Wonderful house and location

We have stayed two year in row, and intend going back. It is in an ideal location for a relaxing week in Vermont and the house is perfect for famalies. The pond is great fun for the kids and the large grounds are safe to let them run around in. We highly recommend the house.

What a wonderful house, lots of space and friendly to our dog. The setting is quiet and the house welcomes you. We enjoyed the resident 'ghost' who made sure our stay was fun.
The location gives easy access to everything we wanted in Vermont. We recommend this house for anyone looking for a relacting time.

The description of this property is spot on. A wonderful, comfortable place to relax and unwind. We always enjoy taking a trip to the outlet stores in Manchester. Even drove through New Hampshire and to the Maine coast one trip. Even though I don't make it back every year, my soul longs to be there!

We stayed for a week last year with our 2 golden retrievers, Maggie and Monty. Everyone had a great time! The dogs truly appreciated the pond and the surrounding fields to run in. The house is extremely comfortable for all. Close to everything, yet feels a million miles away. Looking forward to our upcoming visit!

What a wonderful vacation. The cottage was everthing advertised and more. The location was great, a beautiful setting with easy access to the rest of Vermont. I recommend that visitors spend a day discovering the wonderful old covered bridges. We will definitely return and will recommend the cottage to friends and family.
