We just returned from our second stay at this house, and our time there was just as enjoyable as the first time in winter 2011. This house is clean, well-maintained, and spacious. The owner was available and responsive to any questions that I had, and gave good suggestions for things to do in the area. Quechee is a charming town, as is nearby Woodstock. Being from the Boston area, it is refreshing for us to spend time in beautiful Vermont with its slower pace of life, and this house was a great home-base for exploratory trips around the area. My elderly parents and I just enjoyed driving along the back roads past some beautiful farms. I recommend this house, and I'm already looking forward to coming back again.
This is my fourth stay at this lovely rental home in Quechee. We love it because it is less than and hour ride to Okemo and Killington and Quechee also has it's own ski area. I now realize it is more than a great ski house. It is also a great place for a fall getaway. The description was accurate, the property clean and well maintained and the owner sent us great directions, clear instuctions on how to be comfortable in the house, places to go, list of activities, retaurants, both casual and formal, etc. Woodstock is a short ride awayand a great place to browse, eat and visit with friends. Woodstock is also the home of the Marsh Billings Rockefellar National Park. This includes a beautiful farm to visit and multiple trails, of various lengths, depending on personal preference. I would highly recommend it as a great destination for both family and friends.
Our group was so thrilled to have so much space to spread out and also be together! We were never on top of each other, never had to wait for a bathroom and the "early risers" didn't disturb anyone. The location is also prime, with proximity to hiking, shopping and restaurants. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
This property is near wonderful hiking in Quechee State Park along the gorge and excellent biking from Woodstock through small towns in the Green Mountains. There are two food coops nearby that have local food to be cooked in the well equipped kitchen and served in the spacious dining room. The layout afforded my 8 friends and me a great room to gather in and many rooms to rest and read in, including several porches looking out on woods. The owner thoughtfully has books on the shelves about the area's nature attractions and history. I have highly recommended this property to my family and friends.
This spacious home provided a wonderful venue for a gathering of old friends. The house was very clean, kitchen well supplied for cooking for a crowd and the bedrooms were ample and private. There are numerous spaces for gathering including a dining room seating 8-10, living room with handsome fire place, large family room, screened porch, master bedroom porch and wrap around porch with autumn-colored mountain views. Quechee has fine parks, walking trails, skiing, tennis, swimming and is a very short drive to uniquely Vermont attractions such as Simon Pearce glass (wonderful restaurant), King Arthur flour (a cook's paradise) and historic Woodstock (we loved the spa and shops). I would highly recommend the area and this beautiful house.
The location is really ideal and the house itself is great! Sleeps lots of folks, with lots of bathrooms well situated for everyone's use. Indoor and outdoor spaces are well designed to encourage lots of socializing but permit privacy. Upstairs bedrooms are spacious and light- filled. My friends and I appreciated all the space. Three floors of fun!
EASY, convenient access to local attractions like Simon Pearce or Woodstock Inn, and the neighborhood itself is wonderful for walks. WOW! can't wait to return for another fantastic Fall fling. Or maybe winter, or summer...
Access passes available to Quechee Club for on premises golf (2 championship courses), skiing, lake, tennis, trails, dining and more. Close to great fishing and hunting. Thirty minutes to Killington, forty to Okemo. Just 5 miles to Suicide Six and Woodstock, ten miles to Dartmouth/ Hanover. Four miles off Exit 1 on Route 89, just over 2 hours from Boston.
