Adventures in Paradise!: If you ever dreamed of a remote tropical place situated gazing out the blue-green Pacific Ocean then the Hamoa Beach Cottage will fill this vision. Breathtaking views abound everywhere and if love to hike then you came to the right location. Just outside your door are three hikes to enjoy, no need to even get into your car. The quaint town of Hana is just two miles away and there is a wonderful trail, off the main road through rolling hills with panoramic views of the ocean every step on the way. If you only have one day then the must-do hike is just a short 7 mile drive from the Cottage, located at the Haleakala National Forest, know as the Seven Sacred Pools. Get an early start to avoid the crowds and take the one trail head up to the tallest waterfall you can hike to on Maui, the 400 ft drop Waimuku Falls. Meander through bamboo forests that is so dense and if it is windy it sounds like a symphony of wind chimes. This is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed!

Eco tourism abounds!: Hana is known for it's beauty and isolation and eco tourism abounds. We have wonderful activities for everyone to enjoy including numerous cultural events. If you love kayaking, Kevin will take you out to a pristine colorful reef where you can snorkel and perhaps catch a glimpse of a sea turtle. Even if you don't get wet the beauty of seeing Hana town from the bay is breathtaking. There are two horseback riding stables in the Hana area and one is guided by locals who knows his history and explains the plants and animals and also the Hawaiian culture during this ride. More into relaxing, Hana has incredible massage therapists available that offer a wide variety of massages, including the Hawaiian Lomilomi. There are also cave tours, botanical gardens, motorized hang gliding, regular air gliding, an art gallery featuring local artist and many of the Hana artists also do private showings in their homes, historical sites and a small museum. So much to see and enjoy in the Hana area

For the love of food!: If one of the things you love to do on vacation is eat then Hana is a unique area as it has so much to offer in the way of food! We don't have McDonald's or Starbucks, but we do have our own Hawaiian version of fast food. All along the Hana Highway you will find farmer's markets, little stands that will sell all that they have grown. Most will offer free samples of some of the most exotic fruits and vegetables you have tried, including breadfruit, sour sap, low acid pineapples, coconuts, lychee, rambutan, jackfruit, etc. Many of the stands offer fresh homemade banana or macnut breads or try some homemade coconut ice cream. There are also Thai food, Chinese food, local plate lunch barbecue (meat, mac salad, 2 scoops rice) pasta, vegetarian, hamburger, and numerous other vendors. If you are lucky and the fisherman are catching, they will filet a beautiful piece of fish for your evening meal and the two general stores in town carry fresh local beef. You won't go hungry in Hana!
