The town of Sami is a 20-25 minute walk away which is the second biggest port on Kefalonia. Sami is a very charming working town with a long waterfront lined with shaded restaurants and tavernas serving the locally caught fish of the day. There are also many shingle beaches along the coastline where you can find a small cove or sheltered beach all to yourself - a perfect town for sightseeing and touring the island. The village of Sami is situated on the north east side of Kefalonia which is a very green area of the island. Sami is one of the islands main ports and is very quaint. In the summer months the main harbour area attracts lots of yachts and boats from across Europe including a sprinkling of famous faces. The main harbour area has some great traditional taverns serving home cooked food and some amazing fish taverns. There are also a few sandwich bars which make freshly made sandwiches to the customer's choice. The resort also has a bank, post office, police station, supermarkets and a medical centre. The majority of locals speak excellent English as well. Sami also has one of the most famous beaches on the island, Antisamos Bay, which is a shingle beach and is amazing for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. There is also another very nice beach around 10 minutes walk from Sami town called Melissani beach. This also has a new pool-bar next to the beach so if you fancy a change or somewhere to sit in the shade and admire the view, this is the place. Sami is also only a short drive from the two natural attractions in Kefaloni; the Melissani Lake and Drogorati Caves. It is also a short drive from Myrtos Bay which is one of the most famous beaches in Greece and where Captain Corelli's movie was filmed. Sami is also only a stone throw from the island of Ithaka which is a must see for anyone visiting Kefalonia. Please note the 2nd week half price is not applicable on this booking.
