LITTLE ORCHARD: LUXURY THATCHED COTTAGE IN CHIPPING CAMPDEN

Chipping Campden Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom, en suite bathroom, shower room in a quiet residential area

Built in the 18th Century and Grade II Listed, Little Orchard is the quintessential detached Cotswold stone cottage which, from 1931 to 1933, was the home of Graham Greene, the prolific English novelist, playwright, short story writer and critic. This thatched cottage is full of character. To enter is to take a step back in time but without the discomforts of 17th century life. Its low ceilings, exposed beams, log fire and uneven walls are all redolent of times past but the high quality fittings and furnishings make it a luxurious holiday home. Situated in a quiet, residential lane it is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the High Street, with its wide range of little shops, pubs and restaurants. The lane is a cul de sac that continues as a footpath and is the start of the Cotswold Way, leading up to Dover’s Hill (NT). There is full gas central heating and children are welcome.

Short breaks available out of season. Prices on request.

Suitability:
  • pets not allowed
  • non smoking only
  • suitable for elderly or infirm

Wonderful holiday!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Little Orchard for a week and wished we had booked it for a year! Everything about this cottage is delightful. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the village brimming with shops, pubs and restaurants. We start the day with an easy made breakfast in the cottage, then walk the Cotswold's Way to come back to this cozy cottage and drinks and dinner in town. The walk back to the cottage was quiet, peaceful and comforting. The internet was fast, the TV stations plentiful and the town & its inhabitants were friendly & helpful. Can't wait to go back again.

Little Orchard Cottage, Chipping Campden

  • 5 of 5
We rented Little Orchard Cottage in Chipping Campden for the first week in May.The Cottage is a quintessential English cottage offering lots of charm, comfort, space and ambiance. Our party, 2 recently retired American couples, used the cottage as a base for exploring many sites, attractions and places of historical interest in the Cotswolds. Photos posted on the website give an accurate depiction of rooms, but you need to stay there to experience its full charm. Little Orchard exceeded our expectations and provided us with a delightful accommodation during our week stay.

Chipping Campden is a small market town built largely by wealthy medieval wool merchants. One of the most charming and unspoilt of the Cotswold towns, it is often described as having the most perfect High Street in England, with beautiful honey coloured stone buildings dating from the 14th to the 17th centuries. The Market Hall (now in the care of the National Trust) is an imposing open sided stone arched building erected in 1627 to provide shelter for the local produce market.

Visitors are welcome in the Old Silk Mill and the workshop of Harts (Gold and Silversmiths), descendants of C R Ashbee’s Guild.

There is a wide range of interesting small shops and a variety of good restaurants, tea rooms, hotels and pubs catering for all tastes.

The Ernest Wilson Memorial Garden in Chipping Campden is open 7 days a week with free entry. Hidcote Garden, owned by the National Trust and world renowned is just two miles away and, almost opposite, is Kiftsgate Garden which is well worth a visit.
