SECLUDED LAKE CHAMPLAIN HOME ON 1200' OF FRONTAGE

South Hero House Rental Photos and Description

House, 6 Bedrooms, 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 14)

This rustic, Adirondack-style home is full of charms and quirks. Families and friends have been returning here, time after time, just to enjoy the magic that is 'Camp.'. Nowhere on the Lake do you have this kind of setting and easy freedom to enjoy the beauty of the Champlain region. The property sits in the middle of 5 acres of land, so the nearest neighbor feels far away and you can enjoy the peace and rustic charm of Camp, comfortably ensconced in your own room.

The entire home and grounds are at your disposal.  There is a fully stocked kitchen, separate dining room and living room. The latter two rooms have large windows that look out over the Lake.  There is an inside and outside shower, and two half-bathrooms (one downstairs and the other on the second floor).  There are 5 bedrooms in the main house and one in a separate building: Camp can sleep 14-16 comfortably.

We leave several bikes there so you can enjoy the excellent back road riding on Grand Isle, a dock, raft, and volleyball/badminton court. There's also a local winery that hosts concerts and tasting evenings, a drive-in (still!) a short drive away and some of the most amazing sunsets anywhere. Convenient to Burlington and Montreal, though once you arrive, you probably aren’t going to want to leave.

Perfect summer lake cabin!

It is difficult for me to imagine a more perfect place to get together with a group of people you care about and have a great time. We went there on Memorial Day weekend with 4 other couples and spent most of our time grilling, drinking beer, playing lawn games, swimming, canoeing, and enjoying campfires by the water and views from the porch.

The property has a great lawn and is surrounded by woods, making it feel spacious and secluded. The views of the lake are panoramic. The sunsets are magnificent. The lake is lined with big slabs of rock that are perfect for sunbathing. There are plenty of lawn chairs and a picnic table right by the lake.

The house itself is one of the most charming buildings I've ever been in. It's more than a hundred years old, has a very rustic Adirondack style, and you can feel the good vibes of the generations of others who have enjoyed its magic charm. The kitchen is highly functional and well-stocked with equipment - we cooked almost all our meals there or on the grill outside. At the owners recommendation, we stopped at the Costco near Burlington and stocked up on food and drink for the weekend.

The owners were very responsive and helpful during every step of the rental process. At one point we thought we had an electrical problem and they promptly sent over the handy-man and gave us his contact info. After we left the house, one of us realized she had left an earring behind. We contacted the handyman, who agreed to come by the house and mail it to us. The owners and their staff demonstrated over and over again that they wanted us to have a great stay and that they were friendly, honest, good-natured people who love the house and are eager to share.

I really hope to come back to this place again - it is just a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy a great setting with great company. I highly recommend!!!

Lakefront vacation spot

As a UVM graduate I was familiar with the lovely Lake Champlain Islands, so I wanted a property next to the water, yet easily accessible to Burlington. We, along with two other families, found this private location with its spectacular view. There was plenty of sleeping room for us all and a large table with benches to accommodate many eaters, hungry after a full day of swimming, boating, and biking. The kitchen had been modernized, while the house's other rooms retained their old time rustic charm. There was even cable tv and a dvd player. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch, grilling our evening meal, and feeling the breeze from the lake. It would be hard to find a better spot for a group of friends or family members to get together!

Beautiful and Peaceful

The location of this summer camp is fantastic. Totally private, with a lovely sculpted-rock shoreline and a mix of lawn and forest. Views across the lake to the west and across the bay to the south. We swam every day in the clear, cool water. We usually had a campfire at night; there is a nice fire pit by the shoreline. The house is charming and rustic, with good cooking facilities in the kitchen. We took advantage of the canoe and fishing boat to explore along the shoreline of Lake Champlain. "Our" house was by far the best we ever saw. We had a wonderful time.

Reunion

We were fortunate to experience The Camp this past August with a small group of friends and had a wonderful time. While quite rustic it still has all the necessities to enjoy this great property, we had fun biking, boating, swimming and relaxing. We also had campfires in the evening, went to hear music at a local winery, rented a pontoon one afternoon and had a lot of fun catching up with good friends.
This is a large property with plenty of room to enjoy the great outdoors.
If you're looking for rustic charm this is the place.

Peaceful Pleasure

Last week my husband and I had the opportunity to vacation at “the camp”. Our visit was a most pleasurable, peaceful time. We vacationed on this magnificent property with several of our friends, which also had a spectacular stay. This was a reuniting and a first reunion of five adult couples. The camp surpassed our expectations. The property was located on five luscious acres of mature trees and gorgeous rock which bordered the lakefront, simply beautiful! The grounds were very secluded and private affording us the serenity we desired. The home was large and spacious enough to accommodate all ten adults without any inconvenience. The ambiance was such of rustic charm, very laid back as a seasonal property like this should be. We swam, canoed, kayaked, fished, paddle-boarded, sunbathed, read, relaxed, of course lots of wining and dining and most of all enjoyed each others company. We felt comfort being there amongst friends and the wonderful atmosphere. We rode bikes to the venue of music at the local winery. Most of all we laughed, and laughed some more. This event brought much pleasure and peace to all of us. On behalf of the Roatan clan, we thank our hosts very much for granting us this fine opportunity to enjoy “the camp”. Yes, yes, yes!!
