Cozy apartment a stone’s throw from the Duomo

Two of us greatly enjoyed our stay in Sabrina’s warm, cozy apartment less than a 5-minute walk from the Duomo, San Lorenzo outdoor leather market, and the Accademia, home to Florence’s unofficial ambassador of culture, Michelangelo’s “David.”
Climb three flights of stairs in this renovated traditional 18th century building to reach the “Leaf” apartment (adjacent to the larger “Flower”). This tastefully decorated, compact, two-bedroom unit sports a sleek, modern bathroom with a terrific shower (even has that wonderful European invention, the heated towel rack!). The beds in both bedrooms were extremely comfortable so you’ll be sure to get a good night’s sleep after a strenuous day of sightseeing.
The family area is a relatively Spartan sitting/dining/kitchen area with a wooden table and four chairs, and two-seat sofa facing a flat screen TV on the opposite wall. The kitchen is certainly well-equipped for cooking, although with the traditional Tuscan food beckoning you at nearly every turn as you walk around Florence, you will probably find yourselves eating out more often than in. For morning coffee lovers, the kitchen has an Italian Moka-style coffee pot. I, however, would recommend stepping next door to the friendly Orlando Caffé for a velvety-smooth cappuccino. And as long as you’re there, enjoy the pleasures of one of their freshly-baked pastries!
If you are looking for a reasonably priced apartment right in the center of old Florence, try either “Leaf” or “Flower.” While Sabrina does not live nearby, she is easily accessible by cell (mobile), text (SMS) or email (which she answers very promptly).
