Access is suitable for persons with poor mobility as there is a ramp to the front door from the drive. There is then the downstairs bedroom and a downstairs bathroom which also has a separate large shower with integral shower seat.
The kitchen has an under counter double electric oven as well as an induction hob. There is a fully functioning Aga which heats the kitchen and can be used for cooking. Also in the kitchen there is a dishwasher, Microwave and fridge/freezer.
In the dining room there is also an infra-red sauna, which is a dry heat sauna requiring no water. Bathrobes must be worn in the sauna at all times for hygiene purposes and comfort. Towelling slippers are also provided.
Invermay is on the A93 Royal Deeside Tourist Route which runs from Perth to Aberdeen. From Perth, one passes the entrance to Scone Palace and then the famous Meikleour Beech Hedge, planted at the time of the Jacobites. After that, the road passes the 'Wee' Course at Blairgowrie Golf Club and just off to the right is the club with championship courses, Rosemount and Lansdowne. Keep going on the A93 and Invermay is just another mile along the road, passing the signs for the Ardblair Trail which leads to the beautiful Bluebell Wood walk. Blairgowrie High School is just before Invermay and the Leisure Centre with Pool is situated there.
Invermay is also very close to the Cottage Hospital which is on the other side of the road on the corner of the Perth Road and Ann Street. Keep going and the bike Hire shop is just a couple of hundred yards further on. Then the town with all the shops you would expect to see in the biggest town in Perthshire. The Wellmeadow is the lovely green area in the centre of the town. The River Ericht is nearby and the Cateran walking Trail starts there. You can keep walking for 64 miles and eventually return to Blairgowrie! Go over the bridge and then turn left on to Balmoral Road. You are still on the A93 and on the way to the ski resort at Glenshee. At Glenshee, you cross the border into Aberdeenshire and then you soon arrive in Braemar with its bonny wee shops! Keep going a little bit further by the banks of the beautiful River Dee and then you will glimpse Balmoral Castle from the road. From 1 April to 31 July each year, you can visit the castle grounds and Ballroom. There are many more castles in Aberdeenshire.....
Back to Blairgowrie though.... Other routes are to Dunkeld to the lovely cathedral and old village centre with mercat Cross. You are then just about at the A9 and can travel on to Pitlochry and delightful Edradour Distillery or go a little west to Aberfeldy and Dewars Whisky World. After Aberfeldy there is Kenmore and a visit to the Crannog on Loch Tay or climb up Ben Lawyers or keep going to Killin and the Falls of Dochart.
From Blairgowrie, you may want to see the sea, so travel to Dundee, the city of RRS Discovery and see the Ship and visitor centre. The V&A will be coming to Dundee in the next year or two and the centre of Dundee is currently being transformed. There is a great cinema at the DCA on the Peth Road in Dundee opposite the University. In addition, the Dundee Rep 100 metres away is a very thriving audience-puller. For art lovers, the McManus Gallery in the centre of Dundee is a must and it also tells the story of the city of Dundee. To the east of Dundee is the former fishing village of Broughty Ferry, now a suburb. Here you can visit the castle, go to the beach and eat Italian ice cream. What better way to spend a holiday!

About Mrs Kempton
My parents purchased this property in 1979 and required 8 months of major renovation to make it habitable. After I inherited the property in 2011, it was the same story all over again as the house once agin needed a total refit from top to bottom. At times I wished I had never started, however, I think the result has been worthwhile to keep the house looking good as it is in a nice neighbourhood. The kitchen and three bathrooms have been totally modernised. However, th remainder of the house retains original features
Mrs Kempton purchased this villa in 1979
Why Mrs Kempton chose Blairgowrie and East Perthshire
It was far better to look after the house and keep it as a family home, albeit for families to stay on holiday rather than for one family to live in all the time. I like to think that my parents would be pleased to see the house as it is now and they would approve of the renovations.
What makes this villa unique
Invermay is in such a lovely town, Blairgowrie, which is the largest town in erthshire, not that Perth has regained it's city status. Blairgowrie is only 20 minutes north of Perth and 35 minutes from the skiing further north at Glenshee. Glamis castle is 30 minutes drive and Scone palace is 20 minutes. Invermay is just along the road from Rosemount and Lansdowne Championship Golf courses, two of the most neautiful and green courses in the British Isles. The Ryder Cup junior event will be hosted at Lansdowne in September 2014, before the main event in nearby Gleneagles. Anglers can enjoy the thrill o catchin salmon in town on the Ericht or just 10 minutes away on the River Tay. If they are interested in Trout, there are fishing lochs in the hills by Glenshee and on the high road to Dundee, at Tullibaccart.
Invermay has a unique and friendly atmosphere for travellers and holiday makers, whatever their interests. There is free wi-Fi and gas central heating as well as a gas Aga in the kitchen and barbecue on the patio.
