Maine trip 2009

Location was awesome. As far as "beach" access, there isn't really a beach.....not a sandy beach..and not very easy to get a kayak into as the walkway to the "beach" is steep. The "barn" had a lot of character and the layout was nice. When we arrived however, the kitchen floor was all sticky. So we had two people wash the floors (kitchen and bath) and two people went grocery shopping. We tried to make dinner in the pots and pans provided, but everything was sticking to the pans. You might want to bring a nice pot/pan from home if you like to cook as much as we do! One night we decided to BBQ, but the tank ran out of propane. Fortunately the owner wasn't far away and we were back to grilling in under 30 mins! All but two beds were comfortable. I slept on the upper bunk in the downstairs bedroom and could feel every spring in the mattress. The futon upstairs was also uncomfortable. We did bring a cot for sleeping and that came in handy! As far as cleaning up when we left......everything went well. The vacuum was a little on the weak side, and we didn't bring any pets, but when we went to vacuum the smell from it was nasty. Like wet dog. Vacuuming only made the rugs look worse because it would clump together animal hair and not have the power to suck it all up. Anyway, all in all, it was a nice trip and we even opted to spend another night beyond our expected check out...........
