We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous made-for-Architectural Digest home in the wooded hills of the spectacular Mad River Valley. Could not have asked for a better experience. To all future renters --- be kind to it because this one is a gem.

Exquisite Relaxation and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We have had the fortunate honor to reside at Upper Pines Lodge over the last couple of years and want to express how amazing a vacation home it is. From a fully equipped kitchen, to heated floors the owner and management have left little to be desired. Once you step into this three story wonder, you feel fully transferred into the Vermont way of life. It is located directly off of the access road to Sugarbush and is relatively close to Warren and Waitsfield. We would recommend using the Mad River Rockets located in the shed and head up to Linclon Gap, to go sledding. Jack, the owner, is super supportive and very knowledgeable about the area. We would highly recommend the Upper Pines Lodge, to any and all of our friends.

End of the road and beginning of stay cation!

  • 5 of 5

You don't have to travel far to be in vacation mode here in VT. I live less than an hour from the Upper Pine Lodge and chose to travel here to vacation. The lodge is located at the end of a road and right next to Sugarbush- the Mad River Valley has tons of activities- from skiing, to mt. biking, taking a dip in secluded swimming holes to watching a film at Big Picture Theater.

The listing is accurate to the location, layout and amenities. The lodge is truly a work of art, the photos do a great job of representing parts of the building- you need to stay there to get the full effect!

Spotless, would describe the lodge, and the the property was clean and well maintained- even the shed where the garbage and recycling is kept was amazingly clean and artistically designed.

Jack is super responsive, through and very friendly. I felt I had met him before! He was there to answer questions and has very easy to follow directions for everything including the fancy light switches in the house.

I would recommend the upper Pines Lodge to you, your family and friends and I've already recommended it to mine.

A restful and luxurious retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Upper Pines Lodge is a gem. It gives the impression of a perfectly self-contained, quiet forest hideaway, while also being conveniently close to Sugarbush--directly off the access road, in fact--as well as close to the towns of Warren and Waitsfield. The Lincoln Gap is also nearby, with plenty of hiking trails, if you prefer less resort-focused adventures. We recommend taking the Lodge sleds (found in the storage shed) up to the top of the Gap when it is closed in the winter! When you are done adventuring, the Lodge is the perfect place to come home to. The kitchen is particularly well appointed, if you prefer to eat in or throw a small dinner party. The fireplace makes the spacious living room feel cozy, the steam room is perfect for sore skiing or sledding muscles, and the memory-foam beds are what dreams are made of. Jack, the owner, is very responsive in the unlikely event that he is needed. We can't recommend this place enough, and we are so happy to have found it!

Heart and soul are in this home!

  • 5 of 5

This is a dramatic and sophisticated yet cozy home, with great attention to detail and the comfort of guests. The bed I slept in was wonderful; food prep in the well equipped kitchen was a pleasure.Top notch location; clean, and meticulously maintained by its thoughtful and attentive owner. Activities abound nearby for a whole range of interests-- but weather would not matter, because just being there is a real treat.

A Perfect Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

After an 11 hour drive, the girls & I arrived at 1am last night. I've never seen 5 tired & cranky girls perk up so quickly! For an hour they ran through the house-calling each other over to show what "absolutely the coolest" thing they found. I finally got them settled in at 2am warm & toasty in the comfy beds.

The pictures online do not give the lodge justice- it is absolutely spectacular!! Everything is perfect. I'm just in awe & can't believe I get to spend a week here!
