UNIQUE VILLA WITH GARDENS IN THE HEART OF ROME

Centro Storico (Old Rome) House Rental Photos and Description

2 Sitting Rooms, 2 Double Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Dining Room, Kitchen, Terraces

A roman getaway in the city's most famous park. This lovely home, elegantly decorated and furnished, is unique due to its extraordinary position in the city. Lost amongst the secular pine trees and the intense vegetation of Villa Ruffo, which is part of the Villa Borghese gardens, it is only a five minute stroll to Piazza del Popolo or a 300 meters walk to Piazzale Flaminio, with all its shops, metro and bus stations.

Reached by a private drive and surrounded by its own garden (500 sq. m.), it guarantees maximum privacy and moments of total relax in the outdoor sitting area with its large umbrella and adjacent lemon trees, lawn and flower beds.

The house is on two floors. An airy sitting room with a sliding bow window gives onto the garden on one side and a comfortable second sitting room, with a flat screen TV and library on the other. This leads on to a beamed ceiling bedroom with a queen sized bed, book shelves, and a writing area. On the other side is a carpeted bathroom with bathtub, hand shower and bidet, spacious cupboards, and windows giving onto the trees.

A flight of steps takes one down to the dining room which seats eight, and opens onto a terracotta paved terrace with another dining area with a table and chairs for six surrounded by plants and flowers where a large umbrella provides shade at all times. On this floor is a second bedroom with a queen size bed and book shelves which also gives onto the terrace. This bedroom has its private dressing room and bathroom with bathtub, hand shower and bidet. The recently renovated and well equipped kitchen, adjacent to the dining room, is also on this floor together with a small laundry room with washing machine, dryer and second ‘fridge’. Both bedrooms have air conditioning and are provided with fine linen.

For those travelling by car, there is all the necessary parking space in the garden.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We (two mature american couples) stayed in Villa Fiore for a week in May. Don't think we could have found a more welcoming home in Rome. This property is better than described in the listing --- it is hard to describe the amazing relatively quiet garden setting in the middle of the City. Appropriate for guests who are able and happy to walk --- it is about a quarter mile walk uphill from the Flamino metro station. Not suitable for someone with difficulty walking. This is obviously a family home, not an Ikea-furnished rental. The two bedrooms are quite separate --- one up and one down. Very suitable for two couples or a family with a couple children.Very comfortable home well furnished and with all the amenities. We especially appreciated the laundry washer and dryer (dryers not common in Italy), a dishwasher, and the WiFi. Our rental included a daily housekeeper. The property is gated with a guardian who is very friendly and helpful. Villa Fiore is a great value in the heart of Rome.

The grounds have been in the family since the 1870's, the year when the grand Villa Ruffo was built. The house (which you are now looking at) was the area for its horse carriages. It was then transformed in 1970. The setting is quite unique for a capital city, with its gardens, a terrace, and the silence; it is not unusual to see white rabbits on the lawn, green parrots and squirrels in the trees. This in the city centre. By the way there is also ample parking space for two or three cars.

The outstanding location.

BEAUTIFUL VILLA IN A DELIGHTFUL SETTING.

  • 5 of 5
We would like to thank Merial for providing her beautiful villa for us to enjoy when we visited Rome. It is so close to all the attractions and yet within minutes you can be surrounded by a haven away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy streets.
The villa was more beautiful than we expected. There were thoughtful touches throughout the house; beautiful flowers, chilled wine, and a bowl of fresh apples.
The garden was divine and there was comfortable outside furniture in several different locations. By day we saw squirrels and heard birds, and by night fire flies sparkled in the dense vegetation along the drive.
The interior of the house is gorgeous and even more beautiful than it looks on the website.
We had a maid most days who put our shopping away and did our washing and ironing.
Merial was a pleasure to deal with. She always replied promptly to our questions and provided excellent friendly advice.
Staying in Villa Fiori is an unforgettable experience. It will be one of those treasured memories that we will pull out when the going gets tough!

VILLA FIORI IS TRULY AN AMAZING PROPERTY!

  • 5 of 5
We loved coming home to Villa Fiori each night! The property is nestled in a peaceful, park-like setting. Some of our favorite memories were enjoying wine on the terrace in the evening and looking out over the lights of Rome. You are in this fabulous, quiet surrounding and still just steps from the city center.

The photos do not do it justice. We felt like we were staying at a friend's home . . . a friend with excellent taste in furnishings, art, and books! The bedrooms are on separate floors and so there is a lot of privacy. The terraces and green spaces were lovely and we spent a lot of time outside as weather permitted.

Some reviewers have commented on "the hill" to climb to get to the property and I wanted to offer my perspective. I was concerned about it as we were traveling with my parents -- both in their 70s and one with two knee replacements. We all managed the hill just fine, even after long days of walking in Rome. So know that the hill is there, but don't let it discourage you from considering this wonderful property. And of course you can always take a taxi!

Many thanks to Merial for being such a gracious host. You gave us great advice during our stay and you promptly answered all of my questions during the booking process. You have a remarkable home and we have many fond memories of our stay there! Mille grazie!

VILLIA FIORI IS A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
Merial, the villa owner, was so helpful in my many e-mails about my first trip to Rome. She gave me much needed contacts to book tours and transportation and they all worked out excellent. Merial met us at the front door of the villa upon our arrival. We were extremely pleased as she went through the whole house, as pictured on line, no photo shop here. She even helped me with the TV which we never turned on again. she poured us some iced tea and we sat for 10 minutes and chatted about our journey. There are two areas to sit outside. One an outdoor patio in the back where I had my morning coffee where there are some views and two, the garden area with well appointed furniture in a lovely private shaded setting.
The furnishings inside are very nice and I really never felt I was in a rental but I felt I was a guest in her guest house touring Rome. When you consider what a hotel of quality would cost, this is a tremendous value.
We only used one of the two bedrooms and either would have been fine.
This property is in the heart of Rome. Restaurants and shopping is all an easy walk as well are the Spanish steps.. From the steps we had met a tour and walked to the Pantheon and Trevi fountain as well. I would recommend a taxi or metro to the coliseum. The dome of St. Peters is visible from the villa. I could have walked there but I did not as the tour was early morning.. I am in good shape so I had no issues walking but certainly the most unfit person can make it to the shops and restaurants as well as the Spanish steps. There is a big hill you must climb to get back to the villa which is safely locked behind 20 foot gates. We never felt insecure outside the gates but it was nice to sleep tight knowing that these gates with a caretaker manning them were there.
The whole area surrounding the villa is quite nice and is all shaded. when we walked back out of our long days touring in the heat of Rome, the shade and coolness of the area surrounding the villa was a welcome reprieve. We would look around and could not believe this place was in the middle of Rome. It's like a country setting.
Merial even met us upon our departure. She is fantastic.
The villa is fantastic and we are sure to stay there the next time we are in Rome, which I hope is very soon. what a great city! What a great trip.

FABULOUS OASIS IN ROME

  • 5 of 5
How would it be if one could visit Rome with friends or family, live centrally 5 minutes from the Metro, restaurants and shops - but with peace, elegance and elbow room? Imagine space for each to read and sleep or chat late at night, to entertain (or not), just steps away from the crowds.

How would it be to enjoy a private garden in which to savor breakfast (in the company of pet white rabbits hopping under the rose bushes!)? And a terrace on which to sip Prosecco in the evening, with a view over the rooftops in blossom-scented air?

How would it be? Wonderful! We just got back and already miss that magical little house, each nook arranged with care and artistry: whether with art, silver, fabrics or plants. And don't forget the bookshelves stuffed with all manner of artistic, cosmopolitan topics. It is a home for thinking, savoring, and dreaming of Rome - all in impeccably soft, ironed sheets. Be assured, the description and photos are accurate.

Thank you again to our hostess, who was thoughtful, fastidious, and above all, charming.

LOVELY, ROME RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
Incredibly lovely, home in a great location in Rome. Close to Piazza del Popolo, the metropolitana (Flaminio), the MAXXI, a local fruit/vegetable market, and neighborhood markets. A wonderful place to relax after a day of exploring Rome. Very clean and well-kept, kitchen was well stocked and the garden was beautiful Would absolutely return and stay here again. I loved it.

LITTLE GEM IN ROME

  • 5 of 5
We recently spend a week at Villa Fiori in Villa Borghese Park in Rome. The property was a wonderful oasis in the midst of a very busy city. Rome was extremely busy during September with tourists and the unexpected bonus of very warm weather. Coming back to the villa each night was a wonderful treat! We had two great patios in which to relax and revive. We cooked most of our evening meals in the villa as the kitchen facilities were modern and up to date. We ate our meals outside every evening overlooking the city and spent hours out there discussing the sites we had visited that day.

We cannot recommend this property enough - it was well maintained, clean and so very convenient for travel throughout the city. We will definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends visiting Rome.

Thank you Susan, Adrian and Guiliana for your assistance and professionalism throughout our stay and the booking process.

The house is located in an enchanting park, once part of the Villa Borghese grounds, now privately owned. Walking out of the private drive still flanked with Roman vestiges, you have a three hundred meters slope to Piazzale Flaminio with its metro, buses and tram stops, ATM dispensers, pharmacy, open air market, pizzerie and a couple of takeaways. The tram will take you to the Rome Auditorium (the multi-functional complex dedicated to music), the metro A line to Termini station.

Piazzale Flaminio is the entrance to Piazza del Popolo with its famous trident, three streets which run cross the center of the town and on which you will find all the restaurants, the elegant shopping area, the fashionable cafés and many highlights of the city.

If you choose not to go into the bustling squares, you turn left outside the gates of the property and you are already in the Villa Borghese Gardens (eighty hectares) which lead to Via Veneto. Dubbed the 'park of museums', the Villa Borghese park is also home to several museums.

A fifteen minute walk across the wooded lanes will bring you to the renown Galleria Borghese Museum which houses a collection of paintings from several masters including Titian, Rubens and Raphael.

Instead, at five minutes from the house, you will be entering into The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna. The museum has a collection of 19th and 20th century paintings. It contains mostly works from Italian artists. It also has a lovely open air restaurant and bar, a meeting point for the romans in the summer.

Not far from the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna is the Museo Nazionale Etrusco. It displays a collection of pre-Roman objects, mostly Etruscan, excavated around Rome.

Should you be travelling with your children all sorts of activities take place in the Park, starting with the fabulous Bio Zoo. Bicycles can also be rented, together with tandems.

You could also choose to wander through the park to visit the Villa Medici museum (15 minutes) down the Spanish Steps and stop for a drink at the Antico Caffé Greco, a historical landmark opened in 1760. There you will be in Via Condotti with all its trendy shops (Prada, Bulgari, Gucci, Hermes, Fendi and many more.)

Alternatively you could choose to start from Piazza del Popolo have breakfast at Canova stroll through Via Margutta - the artists street, where Fellini once lived and where Billy Wilder's romantic 'Roman Holiday' was filmed. Today this street is known for its antique dealers and refined jewellery stores. Just round the corner you will be in the elegant Via del Babuino where Chanel, Armani, Valentino are situated together with many other attractive designers.

In the evening two 'hot spots' for drinks are the Hotel de Russie and the Hotel Locarno (always within a short walk from the house) This aperitivo could be followed by dinner in one of the many restaurants along Via Ripetta.

If you are tired and want to relax away from the crowds, you will be able to retire under the pine trees and the white umbrellas of the house and enjoy your drinks in total silence with the occasional squirrels and white rabbit crossing the lawn.
