This newly refurbished apartment is in the captain's quarters of the small freighter Dana. It is small but cozy, romantic and comfortable. The lounge in the captain's steering cabin above deck offers a beautiful view of the old 360 Houthavens (lumber harbor), the IJ (the main water way to the harbor) and the city. Below deck there is a seperate sleeping area, a dining / living area with a small, but fully equipped, kitchenette, and bathroom with shower and toilet. All amenities are brand-new. There is internet connection. The apartment has its own entrance, a deck with an old fashioned fire cauldron / bbq and a second seating terrase at the end of the pier. As the boat is at the end of the pier there is very little foot traffic. It has a sense of spaciousness and is a sea of ??tranquility. A great place to relax and watch ships of all sizes and swans come by while the boat gently rocks.
There is a canoe, but guests must demonstrate ability. Water jackets of various sizes (including children) are available. Private cruises on a demolition can be arranged.
The Dana is docked in the old Houthavens (lumber harbor). The Houthavens is a fascinating combination of old industrial harbor buildings and modern architectural design, residential, small business and artist / craftsmen studios. The Houthavens are in the Zeeheldenbuurt (maritime heros) area and adjacent to the westernmost islands - one of the oldest neighborhoods of Amsterdam island and the old sailor quarters of Amsterdam. It is one of Amsterdam's secret locations and few tourists come here. It is within walking distance of the renowned Haarlemmerdijk shopping area and the trendy Jordaan. There is a (organic) food market on Saturday and Wednesday and flee market on Monday in the vicinity. The historic canal belt is within walking distance. Guests can take the free ferry through the harbor area and the new EYE Film Museum. Other areas of the city (ie district museum and fashion district) can be Reached by bus. There is gym in the area.
