Welcome!

If your dream holiday consists of living in a lovely house, away from the crowds, at walking distance from one of the most beautiful beaches of Greece, then you have found your ideal destination!

The property includes a main house and a one-room guest-house. The main house is a two storey building with two double bedrooms, (one furnished with a double bed, and one with two single beds). The ground floor has a kitchenette, a lounge with an original fireplace, and a bathroom with a shower.

In front of the main house a large veranda can be found that overlooks the land of the property. This space is the heart of the house. It is shaded by mature pine trees, cooled by a light breeze that comes from the sea, and has external cooking facilities so you can prepare your meals outdoors, without being separated from your company.

The guest house used to be the property’s barn and has been renovated into a two single bed accommodation, with en-suite bathroom, catering for people that enjoy a bit of privacy.

The two buildings are surrounded by a 2000 m2 plot of land that has pines, olive trees, some young fruit trees, and cacti.

About Daphne

My name is Daphne and at the moment I am based in Athens. I used to live in Brighton and Edinburgh where I gained my academic qualifications (Environmental Sciences) and then I spent a couple of years working in Cyprus. I love travelling, hiking, reading, cooking, and yoga.

Whenever I have the chance, I spend time in my house in Lesbos which I truly love. When there, I swim in the sea twice a day -early morning and late afternoon-, I read and nap on my hammock, I practice yoga in the garden, I prepare meals using the delicious local produce, I do gardening, and go for long walks. When I feel like socializing and changing surroundings I will visit a neighbour or drive to nearby Plomari village to enjoy a drink or a meal in a coffee-shop or a tavern. When I feel like exploring, I will visit a more distant part of the island and spend there an evening or two. You see, Lesbos is rather big and diverse and there is always a new place to discover.

Why Daphne chose Lesbos

The property has been in my family for over 80 years and has been renovated with care to preserve the original architectural features.

It was passed down to my father from his aunt. To be precise, he inherited 1/12 of it and he and my mother embarked on a mission to buy out the other relatives. This operation turned out to be quite difficult and they had to employ all their reserves of diplomacy and patience to succeed (they contacted lost cousins in America, befriended alienated aunties etc).

In the meantime I was born and since at the time the house was not inhabitable, I spent my first summers in a big trailer-tend which my family would pitch on the property’s land.

After my parents gained ownership of the property, they renovated the house and eventually we got a roof over our heads. At the time I was about 8 and although admittedly the house was much more comfortable, it was half as fun compared to the tent.

So, ‘the property’ is much more to me than ‘a property’. It’s the holiday place of my childhood and when I think of it many beautiful images spring to mind.

Siestas on cool bed-sheets with a belly full of mummy’s food. The sound of cicadas on the pine trees. Fishing with my father from his boat. Collecting almonds and figs from the trees. Splashing about the sea with the neighbour’s children. Sleeping with the sound of the adults singing and playing the music.

I hope my future family and my guests with their families, will also have beautiful memories from this place, and love it as much as I do!

What makes this house unique

A feature that I love about this property is its veranda. It is a space shaded by pines and cooled by the sea breeze that enables guests to enjoy the lovely Greek weather all day long. Thanks to external cooking facilities, it is possible to prepare and enjoy the meals outdoors too.

Best place to stay on Lesvos

If you are looking for a cosy, non-touristic, natural, charming place with traditional greek air you are completely right here.

With a warm welcome of the owner our stay in this beautiful house started. The pictures show exactly what you can expect. The house is well-tended, clean and comfortable, the garden is extensive and natural (what especially our children loved).
For a first orientation the owner of the house provided us with many usefull informations. Around the house/ village there are many places to visit. So on the one hand it's a perfect starting point to discover Lesvos, on the other hand it's the ultimative place to calm down, to recover and to spend some lighthearted days/ weeks, snoozing in one of the hammocks, strolling along the fantastic beach or just enjoying a glass of greek wine on the wonderful terrace.

Thanks Daphne, we completely enjoyed!

A dream vacation

"Feels like home" was the first remark of my daughter Marie, when we arrived at Daphne´s house. This descripion is just as it is and it´s the thruth. Amidst an impressive Greek scenery with old pines and olive trees our hostess was expecting us on the terrace with fruit, water and selfmade foodproducts and wine. Thank you so much , Daphne, for that wonderful time we could spend at your place.Our whole group , all in all 6 persons, felt at ease and everyone was taken with the location´s atmosphere and the terrific nearby beach in a distance of about 300 meters. We had it several times almost alone for us although it was also summer vacation in Greece.Daphne was taking care for our requirements in an excellent way, she was always ready for questions and helpful advice. Therefore great praise from all of us. We experienced the property after previous complaints in a former review , but that can´t be understood absolutely. This location is Greece with it´s typical environment and peace and if you like this then enjoy it, otherwise you should better stay at home or search for an unnatural grand hotel. We were thrilled with a great hostess and a splendid, authentic accomodation with atmospheric ambience. We were all in agreement:

To come back to the location, the house was very clean, and looking exactly like the pictures. The house keeper was coming every 4/5 days to clean it, change the sheets, and the towels.
Beside this we had the chance to meet the honor of the house, Daphne. She was absolutely charming, helpful (she bought us books on her island to better understand it), she brought us some fruits from her parents garden, wine and marmelade.
Honestly, we ad one of our best holidays in the place we ever had (and we travel a lot), and the kids just loved it.
If we go back to Lesbos, we will for sure going back to Daphne's

We loved it!

We had this property for 10 days. Beforehand we had a completely serviceminded and friendly communication with the owner, incl. advice for transport, outtings and places to go, that made us feel at home before we arrived.
The property itself was very true to the description and pictures. It is authentic, rustic and spacy. Some of us stayed in the mainhouse and one in the roomy guesthouse. We where met by the housekeeper and toured the proberty. After we where given phone and number as how to contact if we had Questions or problems (which we didnt). The fans made our nights comfortable and the outdorr hammocks mad naptime a bliss.
If you are looking for authentic and reallive living in Greece, you will enjoy this place.
We would go again and might.

Immediate Surrounding area:

The house is situated at a 5min walk from the eastern part of the beautiful beach of Agios Isidoros. This side of the beach is unspoilt, peaceful, and free from umbrellas and sun-loungers.

The area is also ideal for long walks along the coast and through olive groves, whilst within walking distance one can find tavernas offering reasonably priced traditional food.

Agios Isidoros:

The village nearest the house is Agios Isidoros which is a 20 min walk, on the way to Plomari. There, on the eastern and busier part of the beach, shops, restaurants, bars and a beach-café can be found.

Plomari:

About 4 km to the west of the house lies Plomari, which is a truly traditional village definitely worth exploring. There, one can find fresh produce and services such as post office, banks, internet-cafés etc.

Plomari is well-known for its traditional coffee-shops where one can enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of ouzo and a ‘meze’ (snacks) next to the village’s elders. Along the sea frond overlooking Plomari’s marina lie several tavernas serving fresh sea-food.

Greater Plomari Area

The Plomari area hosts a number of picturesque villages. Melinda is a small sea-side community where one can swim, enjoy fresh sea-food, and watch beautiful sunsets. Megalochori is a mountainous village renowned for its fresh air, spring-water and tavernas serving delicious local meat.

Hiking fans can explore the large network of trails that exist in the area. These trails connect different communities, run near the coast, through agricultural and forested areas, across mountains, past sights of natural and cultural interest, and offer breath-taking views. Walking through them is a magnificent way of experiencing the local nature and culture.

Also, there are horse-riding opportunities 30min from the house by car in Toumba Organic Farm, Milies village.
