The cottage has a ground floor of 84m² with an extra 22 m² sleeping loft. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms – one double room and one single room with a bed + bunk suitable for a child. Upstairs in the sleeping loft there are two beds, with the possibility of extra mattress sleeping space.
There is a fully-equipped kitchen with a fridge/freezer, microwave, oven/stove, with a dining area next to the kitchen seating up to 6. There is also a dining table (which seats up to 10) in the glass-panelled lounge, and a comfortable sofa area for relaxing, watching a movie, or listening to music etc. on the cottage’s TV, DVD and CD player. The bathroom consists of a toilet, washbasin and shower – Note: the shower has a sufficient supply of hot water, but not exhaustible! There is also a storage room with a washing machine.
Beautiful views of the Westman Islands from the lounge; on a winter’s night you can look out into the stars + there is even the possibility of some Northern lights (not guaranteed!)
A bit more information!:
The cottage is set in half a hectare of land, approx. 1 km along Road Number 250 (Dímonavegur) after turning off the main Ringroad Number 1, about 120km from Reykjavík. It is advised to bring your car onto the property, locking the gate behind you, to prevent the local horses from taking too keen an interest in it!
Ideal cottage for those who would like to get away from it all - and yet the property is not far from many local attractions and landmarks! Suitable also for those who would like to use the cottage as a base - e.g. mountain climbers, cyclists, fishermen.

It was so fantastic to live in your beautiful and quiet cottage with view to Eyafjallajökull. We have had 3 wonderful days there and made trips to:
- Geysir, Strokkur, Gullfoss, Langjökull
- to Hekla, Landmannalaugar, Kirkjufell, Eldgja
- Kap Dyrhòlaey, warm pool in the mountains near Seljavellalaug
Thanks for all!
This property is located in a picturesque area within Katla Geopark in the south of Iceland. The views consist of mountains, including Eyjafjallajökull, in one direction and Vestmannaeyjar (The Westman Islands) out to sea in another - both of which are accessible from this lovely cottage. [There are daily sailings between Vestmannaeyjar and Landeyjahöfn, which is 14km from the cottage].
Other nearby attractions include the Volcanic museum at Þorvaldseyri, Seljalandsfoss, Skógar museum and waterfall, Dímon, Markarfljót, Þórsmörk, and the villages of Hvolsvöllur and Hella. Njáls Saga, one of Iceland's Viking sagas, took place in and around this area, more of which can be learnt at the local Saga Centre (Sögusetrið Hvolsvelli). It is also possible to go on day trips to Vík, Dyrhólaey, Skaftafell, Jökulsárlón, Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Golden Circle, or Reykjavík and the Blue Lagoon.
Other local possibilities: walking, golf, fishing, horse-riding, mountain climbing, waterfall jumping, swimming, sightseeing flights, bird watching.
