Luxury Art Deco 1930's Apartment by Richmond Bridge London

I stayed here for 9 days with my mother and her boyfriend. Although the apartment is capable of sleeping more it is a clever design with double doors facing a reception and hallway that allow for multiple configurations so there was no ‘dead space’ due to under occupancy. The separate dressing room with wall long dance mirror is a luxury that will make you late going out every evening. The apartment is thoughtfully decorated with high quality furnishing in all rooms, a perfect balance of minimalist functionality and glamour with an interesting juxtaposition of styles – think Garbo’s boudoir dropped on Manhatten to Locatelli’s kitchen slung in Shanghai.

Transport to London West End very good at around 10 trains an hour fast and slow between 15 and 30 minute journey times. Buses and taxis plentiful you would not need to hire a car here. Local pubs are The Alexandra 2 minutes walk and The St Margaret’s 5 minutes walk although many others in both directions. Drinks expensive, food not special so I would recommend the restaurants leading up to the bridge or up in Richmond Quadrant. The A'Cena Italian or Thames Thai are recommended. There must be over 20 places to eat on the Richmond Road, the Indian Hawelli in St Margaret’s village offers home delivery and is truly superb. Richmond centre for Brouge beer cellar and mussels or Fishworks for Sea Bass. Fenando’s Tappas by the station bit expensive but worth it. Rock and Rose heading up the Kew Road for a fun funky atmosphere – all of these are walkable or served by frequent buses or black London taxis.

Thames pathways 3 minutes down a short cut we found on the last day. Richmond park gate a 15 minutes hike up hill although panoramic views across Surrey and London sky line offer a pay back. A good base to explore London with many charming and historical places to stumble over if you want to stay more local.

We love this place, what a find. Stayed here for a week with my girlfriend to recover from new years and get some writing done.

The apartment is spacious, warm and comfortable with all the facilities you'd have at home except they all work! Perfect for pacing around and thinking, chilling and relaxing.

Great distractions with the tv tablets and music system which pipes to every room - I want one. Girlfriend wanted to take the kitchen home - makes a change to have all the condiments provided.

Didnt use public transport, taxi cabs everywhere. Recommend to anyone who deserves a bit of luxury packaged with good taste and quality. Monochrome theme in the bedrooms from white gowns, black blooms to silver slippers. Classic.

Beautifully furnished, everything looks new. This is the nicest apartment we have ever stayed in and beats pokey hotels hands down. Welcome pack in fridge was a nice surprise.

More than enough room for my partner and her two teenagers although bit of an argument over who had the room with the tv. Colin (the owner) helped us out on that one, providing a laptop thing that shows tv and films so then they wanted to swap rooms again! Bathroom/toilet a bit small but okay as we're all family.

We spent just over a week in Richmond (two nights in a b&b which was awful in comparison) and the remainder at the Poplar Apartments. Lots of restaurants only steps away although we ate mostly in London or brought back takeaways. Very pretty views under the snow fall, must be lovely here in the spring.

Finally a shower that works and wakes you up.
