This tastefully renovated old village house is a perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday with family or friends. This stunning property featured in interior magazines for it´s unique decor also has a large garden and terraces with small plunge pool and sea view. It is ideally located in an authentic Catalan village just a 5 minute drive from Sitges and it´s beaches and 30 minutes from Barcelona. The village has all amenities and excellent transport so a car is not essential.
This beautiful old house has been lovingly restored over the last 6 years. As well as restoring the original features of the house I have incorporated my love of Morrocan and Ibizan design. The ceilings have exposed old wooden beams and the floors are a rustic terracotta tile. Both the inside and outside spaces have lovely subdued lighting with various Morrocan lamps giving a lovely warm ambiance in the evenings. The walls are nearly a metre thick so the house stays very cool in the summer.
The furniture and objects dart have either been brought back from Asia or bought in local flea markets or even some of it found in street containers!
There are 4 rooms downstairs and a bathroom, and 4 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs.
This house is charming and unique and everyone one who visits absolutely loves it!
The House: The downstairs has four good sized rooms: a dining room, a living room, a snug room or bedroom and the kitchen
The living room is a cosy space for relaxing, reading and listening to music. There is a fireplace, leather sofa and armchair and leather puffs around a coffee table.
The snug room with English TV, DVD & VCR has a double bed with many scatter cushions.
The dining room has a beautiful old Indian table that seats eight and bespoke Indonesian leather chairs. The book shelf has a great selection of books mainly in English for you to read or browse during your stay.
The kitchen is tasteful, modern and well equipped with a large wooden table.
Upstairs there are four large bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a room overlooking the garden with a large comfortable double bed, a large room with double loft bed and sitting area with TV and DVD and another bedroom with adult size bunk beds and another single bed. The fourth bedroom has it´s own large terrace overlooking the garden. Alternatively guests can use the double bed in the snug downstairs.
Outside Space: Outside is a lovely courtyard with plants,Indian chairs and bench and a bathroom. Steps lead up to the garden with palm trees, various fruit trees and a vine covered pergola. There are two different naturally shaded seating areas with tables in the garden for outside dining. There is a large round iron BBQ. There is even a little casita made out of building crates and a slide for the kids. Then there is the roof terrace with views of the sea, a small plunge pool to cool off, four wooden sunbeds to soak up the sun without being overlooked and another large table with eight chairs under a bamboo pergola. The roof terrace is a lovely space to dine in the evening as it is lit up by subtle Moroccan lamps and has a nice sea breeze. There is another terrace half way up with plants,a small table and chairs overlooking the garden.
Why choose this property?: Unlike the many Sitges properties advertised here which are located 20 minutes away from Sitges along unlit windy roads in modern housing estates with no infrastructure, this house is actually in a small town/village with all it´s amenities and lively plaza and terrace cafes. Sant Pere de Ribes as well as being only 5 minutes drive from Sitges has everything: a village ambiance, country walks, typical fiestas, an excellent public transport system and is perfectly located between the coastal town of Sitges and the rolling hills behind and within 30 minutes you can be in the cultural capital of Barcelona.
Apart from it´s ideal location this property is truly unique. It is a home and not a typical holiday let with cheap furniture and no soul. The house is warm and charming and everyone one who visits absolutely loves it! We hope you do too!
I am British and have lived in this house for nearly 8 years with my two children. I am a designer and have spent many years renovating our house. I also let properties in Sitges for other home owners so I know the market very well and what visitors expect. We have decided to let our own home for the first time this year so we can make the most of the long school holidays.
I fell in love with this house as soon as I saw it and could see it´s amazing potential. These old village houses rarely come on the market here as they tend to stay in the family for generations so I snapped it up. Luckily I was able to buy the large plot of land behind the house a couple of years later for our garden.
Apart from the appeal of the house itself it´s location was perfect on the main street running through the original old quarter famed for it´s large pine tree leaning across the road.
Sant Pere de Ribes has everything. A village ambiance, country walks, typical fiestas, an excellent public transport system and is perfectly located between the coastal town of Sitges and the rolling hills behind and within 30 minutes you can be in the cultural capital of Barcelona.

Unlike the many Sitges properties advertised here which are located along unlit windy roads in modern housing estates that have sprung up in the hills in recent years this house is actually in a small town/village with all it´s amenities and lively plaza and terrace cafes.
This house is located in the old quarter of Sant Pere de Ribes, a small town just a few minutes drive from the cosmopolitan and vibrant coastal town of Sitges and it´s beautiful beaches.
If you want to experience what it is like to really live here, Sant Pere is a real Catalan town with local shops, bars and restaurants and there is a lovely outdoor market on Fridays. Here you can walk to the shops, local supermarkets, bakers, bus stop and typical local restaurants or sit in one of the pleasant terrace cafes in the main Plaza just a 2 minute walk from the house. There is also a modern sports complex with excellent facilities and a large outdoor pool just a 15 minute walk away. There are also many pretty walks through the vineyards or dry river beds in the surrounding countryside just a few minutes walk from the house.
If you want a more touristy town Sitges is just 5 minutes away.
Buses run direct from Sant Pere to Sitges as well as Vilanova, another lovely coastal town 5km away. Barcelona a 45 minute bus ride from Sant Pere de Ribes offers some of the country’s best shopping, night life, restaurants and museums. There are even hourly night buses back from Barcelona.
For those who don’t know it Sitges is a Spanish resort with a difference and a far cry from the noisy typical resorts of the Costas. It has been fashionable since the 1890´s, when it became an avant-garde art world hang-out attracting writers, painters, intellectuals and artists as a home and inspiration for their work. It has also been one of Spain´s most anti-conventional, anything-goes resorts since the 1960s.
Nowadays Sitges appeals to everyone from jet setters to young travellers, honeymooners to week ending families, Barcelona night owls to an international gay crowd. It benefits from a micro climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. There are 17 beautiful sandy beaches, there’s a lively night life if you like to party and there are lots of groovy boutiques if you need to spruce up your wardrobe as well as an impressive range of authentic restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Sitges itself is a mere 30 minute car or train journey to the popular city of Barcelona to the north and the historic city of Tarragona to the south.
Alternatively if you are a nature lover you will be in heaven discovering the hundreds of acres of beautiful unspoilt natural parkland in the Parque Natural de Garraf, just inland from Sitges.
The beautiful wine growing region of Vilafranca is a 15 minute drive. The popular theme park of Portaventura is 40 minutes away. There is also the Aqualeon water park and safari 30 minutes away.
