Shopping and entertainment are here with casinos 3 miles away that will satisfy your thirst for nightlife. Crystal Bay Club is known for their music venues, and Cal Neva for their spa services. There is an abundance of restaurants and shops scattered up and down Kings Beach that will cater to your daytime or evening dining fancies.

In the wintertime… you are in the middle of the North Shore with easy access to all the ski resorts. The house is are 4 miles to the entrance of Northstar which offers a great all-around skiing mountain. A new Village was built to immolate Beaver Creek,Co. with shops, restaurants and ice skating rink surrounded by fire pits, bars and seating. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away with a short cut that eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and MT Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

For those who just want to decompress, this home is the perfect antidote. The house is designed for comfort, and with over 3100 sq ft of living space, you have ample room for large families or groups of friends to spread out.

As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by 22 ft cathedral ceilings, and a large open long living area. To one side is the kitchen the opens into the dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities for cooking and has a countertop with 3 bar stools. There is lots of counter space and cupboards for your items. The dining room has large mission style table that could seat 12 and overlooks the views off the patio. A slider opens up to the deck with hot tub, BBQ, patio furniture, and panoramic views. The views overlook the meadow and tree lined mountains. You can sit here for hours taking in the sights and smells of the pine trees. The views from the hot tub really adds to the enjoyment of soaking. In the living area is large sectional sofa which faces a river rock hearth country stove fireplace, and 42' TV. You can sit on the couch, watch TV and wildlife at the same time. The room is lined with windows to take full advantage of the views. Scattered pillows and throws will make you feel at home. Next to the sectional is a full bathroom, pool table and another slider that exits to the hot tub. The kids love the pool table which is located at the other end of the dining area. Adults can socialize at the table, and kids can play pool without bothering each other. Summer or winter, morning or evening, you'll enjoy the peace and solitude from any part of the house.

Off the living area is the Master Bedroom. This room is HUGE. It has the high A frame ceilings and feels like a separate cabin. Besides feeling like you're in a separate cabin, it is quiet and private from the living area. This is a great spot for kids or infants napping yet being close to your activities. There is plenty of room for the King bed, 2 twins, trundle bed, TV, and large bathroom with closet and changing area. The bathroom is also set up with rails and bars for the elder who may need a little help. There is also a private deck for sunning in the morning.

Down the stairs is large laundry room with washer/dryer and exit which can be used as a mud room in wintertime. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on this level. 1 queen, 2 kings, and 1 bedroom with King and Twin, and another Large bedroom with King, 2 twins, and TV/DVD. Teenagers/kids love this room because of the size and its at another end of the house to make noise and watch their favorite movies. There is extra floor space here for sleeping bags. All the bedding is European Style with memory foam mattress pad, 300 count sheets, 4 pillows, duvet, and bed throw. Because Lake Tahoe offer so much activities, a good night sleep is mandatory to keep up with all of it.

The open areas and high ceilings enhance the areas to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in. The different rooms in the house will allow your group to be together or separate.

There are all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here, and bathrobes are provided in the bedrooms for your use. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating in the living area and patio. Large, wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor throughout the house compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

I offer similar homes walking distance to each other or larger groups or family reunions. Call for more info, other homes, and special pricing.

Guestbook comments from the owner
...a true vacation home. Our 4 families got full use of this great home. There was enough room for all of us to have our privacy and space and then some. Comfortable open areas, nice views, BIG dining table and full stocked kitchen. We were driving distance to everything..super easy to get around the lake. Great restaurants and stores in Kings Beach and we really enjoyed the Hyatt in Incline Village and shops at Squaw Valley which we found a great short cut to. 15min!

Thanks from all of us. Hope to be back next year. GH

Lake Tahoe is a magical place to be both summer and winter. Please feel free to call me with any questions.

I love where the house is on the Lake. You are right in the middle of the North Shore, with easy access to all of Lake Tahoe. The Lake is 3 miles, casinos, 3.5, Northstar 4, Reno 35 minutes, and South Shore is 40 and FUN to go to in the summertime. Skiing is everywhere. I ski at Alpine and Squaw and to drive there from the house, I go the back way and eliminate all the traffic in Tahoe City. I can get there in 20 min's., and is an easy drive.

The restaurants and shops on the lake speak for themselves. But...Northstar is my new hangout! The Village is beautiful!

There is a big ice-skating rink surrounded by bars, tiki torches and outdoor couches with fire pits. Around this are shops and restaurants and then the ski lifts. It reminds be of Vail. In the summertime the ice becomes roller skating with the same ambiance.

You can't beat the neighborhood here. Walking the trails is a twice daily event. There are maintained by the forest service and easy to follow. You can walk to Agate bay, or even Tahoe City if so inclined. Because the area is just up from the Lake, most of the trails have panoramic views of the Lake.

The house is super comfortable and I love walking out the back door and being in the meadow with tall pines. The smell of the forest permeates the house and its quiet, peaceful, and visually soothing.

THIS VACATION RENTAL FAR EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS!

  • 5 of 5
Our large family stayed in the home for a week. We found it not only to be comfortable and meet our needs and then some. To our surprise it surpassed our expectations in every area. The photos do not do it justice. It is even better in person. We will definitely stay here again and would actually consider buying it if we had a smaller family. I love the wood and the decor. I find it very inviting and luxurious. Too bad we had to leave. In addition, the entire experience was more than pleasurable, it was a delight. Kudos to the owner who goes the extra mile to address all concerns and answer any questions with the hiking trails, info on dining, ski resorts, and the best nightlife! With Northstar and Squaw Valley and the king jewel TAHOE of the sierras a short distance away...it is the perfect location, what more could you ask for! We have and will continue to recommend this fine vacation rental to those who want to get away.

SO-SO PLACE FOR THE $$$

  • 2 of 5
The house does adequately hold a large group. The living area is not large enough for everyone to sit & visit. Pool table space would be better suited for additional sitting areas. Sleeping/bedrooms were good. The appliances need updating, particularly the oven and clothes dryer. Trash receptacle was not large enough for the trash generated by a large group. We had a good vacation although there was no snow right after Christmas. Can't control the weather! The house is in a good location to many CA and NV sites. It states it can sleep 17 but I would not put that many people in this house.

Owner's Response: You picked the most expensive New Years Season to visit the house and compared to other homes this size, this is still the best value for your money. The living area is the entire floor upstairs outside of Master Bedroom, with wrap around sectional, scattered ottomans table with 14 chairs, counter with 3 chairs. Not sure how many you had in your group but it seems like maybe you had more than 17. I advertise sleeping 17 because it does. 5 Kings, 1 queen, 6 twins with the twins being in very large bedrooms that have the size to accommodate the extra beds comfortably.
There is a bear box at this home that is 10x6 and holds 3 trashcans. In the directions I provide you with the phone number to trash department if you have excessive trash and would like an extra pick up. The bear box works great for the typical group outside of New Years week without having an extra pick up.
Don't know why the oven and/or dryer were commented on…they're fairly new. I did replace the dryer since then with a bigger one.
I'm glad you liked the area and surroundings. Most groups that stay here enjoy the extra size of this home, the big bedrooms, and in a beautiful setting so close to all.

TEXAS VISITORE,IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SAID - A FANTASTIC RENTAL HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
Nothing could have been more perfect for our family of twelve than teh "Timberhaus"! The layout was perfect, beautifully decorated in country style and very comfortable. Large long living areas for the adults and another area for the almost teenage children including a much used pool table. The bedroom situation worked out well for all. Five boys in the oversized bedroom downstairs and three girls in the king and twin next to it. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the large dining room table accommodated us all. We had perfect weather and sat out on the deck at the back that overlooks an open space where the children could throw frisbees and play ball.
The main focus of activity for the boys was mountain biking which is superb in that area while the girls went to the annual craft fair and visited the shops in town.
I would also like to mention that the owners greeted us warmly and had everything well organized for us when we arrived. All that had been advertised on- line in terms of the property was very accurate. In addition, the owner was very gracious and very responsive in terms of inquires.
Our family will absolutely rent this property again and I'll close with my nine year old grandson's comment when he first toured the house. "Nana, This is the life!"

EXCELLENT WAY TO ENJOY LAKE TAHOE WITH FAMILIES AND FRIENDS..

  • 5 of 5
The owner of this unit is accommodating and honest. Compared to the many other vrbo options in Lake Tahoe this house is reasonable priced, and quite comfortable for 4-5 families. The master bedroom is very large, and has a similarly-sized bathroom 5 bedrooms are downstairs 4 with king beds ( which we REALLY appreciated ) and 1 with comfortable queen. It was nice to have the bedrooms downstairs for those who wanted to hit the sack early…and those that didn't had all of upstairs and didn't have to worry about the noise. Even being in the Large master upstairs was at the other end of the Dining area and kitchen and was perfect for toddlers napping. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pans, etc. The dining area has a huge table that easily can fit 10-12 adults for all meals, plus had a breakfast bar area the kids ate at. The family room is very comfortable with large sectional and throw pillows. Huge windows light up the entire room during the day and the views from the sectional can us a birds eye view from when we wanted to look out from the sectional while watching tv. There's a nice working fireplace for nights which even though it was warm…we loved looking at the fire. . The ceilings on main level are vaulted, and the entire floor plan of the main level has a nice open feel. The pool table was a hit and even that was at the other end of the dining area, so kids played pool and adults played card on the table. The hot tub is GREAT! and very well-maintained. We had panoramic views and loved the additional entertainment of bird watching. The same can be said about the BBQ grill. There's plenty of parking to park comfortably, and only a few stairs to front door which one of the parents needed for a broken foot. The location of this house is especially nice for those who want to avoid the hassles and blatant ripoffs of homes right on the Lake. The house is just up from the Brockway golf course, and 2 miles from a great sandy beach on the lake. Plus..the times we went out, we had an lots of restaurants to choose from. One night 6 of us decided to try our luck at the casinos which gave us a chance to enjoy something we don't have at home. We all commented how great it was to have the option of lots of entertainment so close to the house. We are grateful we chose this neighborhood …it was something we looked forward to come home to after a long day touring. This house is perfect for families and California locals looking for a vacation get-away.

FAMILY REUNION

  • 5 of 5
WOW! The Timberhaus is truly a slice of Heaven. Our family recently gathered, from across the country, for a week here. Our family is unique in that our parents have some special needs. Our mom is in a wheelchair and our father has Alzheimer's. Thanks to the owners, the trip was a complete success. Before, during and after the trip, we were attended to extremely well. This week was one of the BEST weeks we have ever spent together!! It was so relaxing with views that were breathtaking in all directions. We had more than enough room to spread out and have our own space. The kids took over the top floor and had a ball....cousins catching up. The hot tub was the perfect way to start and end each day. This house was wonderful. It is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and is close to almost everything such as good restaurants, beautiful beach's, parks, casino's, horseback riding, etc. In conclusion, we would highly recommend this house to any and everyone! We hope to visit again, ourselves, someday.

BEST RENTAL PROPERTY EVER!!

  • 5 of 5
Our wonderful experience began with my first contact with the owner and just got better and better. The online description of the house does not do it justice. The house is not only beautiful, it is much larger than expected, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. There were 12 of us and there was enough room for small groups to do various activities at the same time without stepping on each other. After a week together in the house, we actually still liked each other at the end of the trip because of the large, spacious areas of the house! We have rented many houses, and found this one to be the best stocked house ever. The owners really went out of their way to make our trip comfortable, easy, and very enjoyable. We will definitely look to return to The Timberhaus on our next trip to Lake Tahoe.

Map

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach. All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and the roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime it becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.
