Comments from past guests:
'We just wanted to thank you for the use of your house in Half Moon Bay. We did many
things while in the area, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Wine Country, Fishermans Wharf Etc.
But when I asked our family what was their favorite thing, they said 'where we stayed'
It really is a nice place, and so peaceful. Everyone had their own space...'

This getaway is perfect for mature adults who want a relaxing upscale environment and amenities in a quiet community setting. Two skylights and surrounding windows provide natural light in the vaulted ceiling main living area, situated on the second floor, which gives its one of the best views in the gated community of Ocean Colony.
Each large uniquely decorated bedroom has view of either the fairway or mountains and is appointed with a quality queen-size bed and a full private bathroom. Hardwood floors abound. There is a balcony off the living/dining area and garden patio area off the downstairs bedrooms. A large drive plus a two-car garage provide off street parking. The residence is just a five-minute walk to the famed Ritz Carlton Hotel and ocean walkway.
As my guest and hopefully future friend, I am committed to make your stay enjoyable while respecting the quiet enjoyment of my neighbors and rules that govern the community.
General Location: Half an hour from San Francisco, San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Stanford and Palo Alto. Half Moon Bay is known for its hiking, biking, surfing, and kayaking, and picturesque downtown area with its local restaurants, shops, music, and theater. This coastal home is in the private gated community of Ocean Colony, and is a five-minute walk to the Ritz Carlton, beach and walking trails. Nearby beaches include Montara, Moss Beach, Half Moon Bay, San Gregorio, and Pescadero. This is also a great jumping off point for day trips to the wine country, and the cities of Santa Cruz and Monterey, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Stanford.
Nearby is Princeton Harbor, a working harbor where you can buy your fresh/smoked fish, go on a deep-sea fishing trip, or fish/crab from the pier. The protected beaches within the harbor are wonderful for children, and the bluff walks above provide views of the world-famous Mavericks surfing area, elegant cypresses, and pounding waves. A flat paved 14-mile long bicycle trail runs from the Harbor along the beaches past Half Moon Bay and other trails are to be found along the bluffs, and coastal mountains.
The seaside town of Half Moon Bay with its galleries and restaurants are a short five minute drive north. Enjoy the culinary talents of chefs at a host of restaurants, like the Navio at the Ritz-Carlton, or the award-winning Cetrella, or Zagat-rated Cafe Gibraltor, or watch the sunset from the Moss Beach Distillery or go to Duarte's in Pescadero and order their delectable artichoke soup.
Further south are San Gregorio and Pescadero with their beautiful beaches, bird marshes and Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Ano Nuevo State Park is home to the famous Elephant Seals (November through March reservations required). Sunny Santa Cruz has wonderful surfing beaches and Boardwalk is a short hour south. 20-min East you will find yourself in the redwoods, Skyline Blvd with its panoramic vistas of the Peninsula. Easy day trips include Napa/Sonoma Valley, Monterey Bay, Sacramento and Sausalito/Stinson Beach/Muir Woods.
Close by are several science/tech museums (Exploratorium/ San Jose Tech Museum), the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Great America.

We never had the pleasure of personally meeting Jeff, but had great communication through emails. He responded quickly throughout the rental process. Also, on our day of departure we contacted him for airport commute advice, and he responded with helpful information.
The house was perfect for our group. It is on a golf course that sits on the ocean. A short walk and you are at the high cliffs watching the waves crash. One of our MOST favorite things to do there was to take an evening stroll (just a few minutes) through the golf course, along the cliffs and to sit at the Ritz Carlton to watch the sunset and then star gaze before walking back for the evening. We asked at the Ritz and they said the adirondack chairs and large lava-rock fire pits were public access and welcomed us to sit there, so we did...every night!! Although it is public area, it is very private, as we had to share our fire pit with no one other than our family. What a great way to relax at the end of each day. Jeff's home is also 1 1/2 hrs drive from San Francisco and Big Basin Redwoods State Park (old growth redwoods & great hiking), 2 hrs from Carmel, Monterey & Big Sur. We visited each of these places and highly recommend Big Basin for hiking.
On the ground floor: My husband and I used the master bedroom with a King bed, a large private bath & view of the golf course (with an outdoor sitting area). We slept soundly to the light sound of waves crashing. Three of our children (all adults) used the guest room that had 2 queens, a private bath and a view of the golf course. This floor also had a laundry room which made packing carry-on luggage a success! We were able to wash clothes as needed. There's also a 1/2 bath on this floor level which was used occasionally.
On the upper floor: Our son & daughter-in-law stayed in the upstairs master that had a queen bed and private bath. We gathered easily in the family/tv room & the gas fireplace made it easy to enjoy a fire in a moments notice. Wifi & Cable was used often and access was great. We cooked two dinners (using the BBQ grill & kitchen) and ate every breakfast here, before rushing out the door to explore; utensils and appliances all worked well & plenty of dishes for us. Wonderful view from this floor of the golf course.
All the linens & towels were of nice quality & plenty of them, along with extra pillows.
We enjoyed our visit tremendously and will treasure the family memories we made here.
Stayed at this location with my wife, daughter, brother, and parents. I don't think we could have asked for much more from Jeff, the listing was spot on. The rental was very clean and neatly organized when we arrived. An hour drive north allowed our family to partake in many adventures around San Francisco; a 5 minute walk led us to the beautiful cliffs and secluded beaches near the Ritz Carlton. I would, without a doubt, stay at this location again and recommend this rental property to any friends or family visiting the area. Thanks for providing such a great location that let our family enjoy a much needed vacation away from this Arizona desert.
Jeff's Half Moon Bay House (HMBH) is a truly wonderful place to vacation. Located in a private guarded BEAUTIFUL neighborhood, the HMBH had plentiful convenient parking for our van and large suv. 3 families packed the house with all of our stuff and yet we never felt crowded or in each other's way. The 3.5 bathrooms (one for each bedroom!) helped tremendously with this as did the open, airy living/dining/kitchen area.
The HMBH's bedrooms were all quite large. Each room could easily fit two queen beds or pack-in-plays which makes this house flexible for larger reservations. The dining table, although only seating 8, worked out well for us as our young kids did not require a seat at the table. The kitchen was a treat to use as there were PLENTY of high quality silverware, plates, cups... not your normal hand-me-down that I have commonly found in other vacation rentals.
You can tell the HMBH is well cared for by its CLEAN interior and tasteful, high quality furniture. The nice Asian furniture in the bedrooms were beautiful and different. The leather couches were comfortable and computer in the upstairs bedroom was convenient for quick searches. Having wifi throughout the house was a plus for those with laptops.
I highly recommend the HMBH. Jeff was great to work with promptly replying to my emails within a few hours in most instances, Thank you Jeff for making our stay a great one.
