Circle H Lodge, an historic house from the early 1900's, is near Leakey in an area of the Texas Hill Country noted for magnificent scenery. The lodge is located in a lovely, secluded valley on Circle H Ranch. This is a working ranch devoted to the preservation of wildlife and is home to many species of both native and non-native animals. The lodge is decorated in Cowboy High Style with antiques and Cowboy -Indian memorabilia. There is a natural rock swimming pool in front of the lodge. This two-story lodge has been completely renovated. It has central heat and air-conditioning and provides all amenities. There is a large living and dining area. The four bedrooms are each uniquely decorated in western style and will sleep up to 8 people. Two bedrooms have a king sized bed and two bedrooms have a pair of twin beds. There are two full baths. An upstairs sunroom provides a comfortable place to relax while enjoying the beautiful view.

Notes: Historic house has central heat & air, 2 king beds, 4 twin beds, huge kitchen & living/dining area. All bedrooms upstairs. One full bath up & one full bath down. Grounds are 2 acres of carpet grass & oak trees, spring fed limestone swimming pool, cabana, horseshoe pit, hammock, BBQ facilities, fire pit for bonfires.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave and a dishwasher. A barbecue grill and a fire pit are provided for outdoor cooking. The spacious yard that surrounds the lodge is perfect for picnics. Other activities in the area include hiking, swimming, photography, summer rodeos, or floating the Frio River. The numerous migratory routes, which cross this area, provide almost limitless opportunities for bird watching. There are several restaurants in the area. Garner State Park is 8 miles from the lodge. Lost Maples Natural Area is a 30- minute drive. The city of San Antonio is approximately 1 1/2 hours away. It is 6 miles to the county airport. Smoking outside only please. No pets.

Cancellation Policy: No refunds given, but credit is given to rebook within one year. $50 rebooking fee.

Float/Tube rental available: Pool floats & inner tubes are available for rent at $5 each per day. Ask Ginny when you reserve, or John on the ranch.

Other Activities: horse back riding, floating the Frio river

Authentic Texas Experience

Sight unseen, we rented this property for our annual family pilgrimage to the Hill Country, this year with our sons' college roommates from Seattle and Montreal. We were captivated by the beautiful landscape, the large and comfortable lodge, and most of all, the virtual Noah's Ark of free-range hoofstock (with hundreds of photos to prove it). Rugged hiking in the hills, swimming in the picturesque natural pool, and star-gazing around the bonfire pit, all were among the best experiences we've had in 30 years of visiting the Frio Canyon area. Our guests were thrilled with their first experience of Texas - and intend to return for more R&R at Circle H Lodge.

We had a wonderful time at the ranch! The house was beautiful. We were welcomed by the friendly "ranch hands" and a visit from the owner. The property is perfect for quiet time, long walks, and cooling off at the spring fed (a little chilly) pool. The animals are an extra treat! Many thanks for the hospitality and company.

Everything was so great! It was like jurassic park! the water was down a little but the house and surroundings were beautiful and very private
