Charming cottage across the bridge on Rutherford Island. Has path to water views and great views of 'The Gut', Damariscotta River and East Boothbay. Quick walk or ride to picturesque Christmas Cove and Coveside Restaurant and marina. Enjoy this spot as a base to explore the beauty of coastal Maine.
My husband and I loved our cottage, and would rent again in a second. Actually we plan on going back this coming summer, although the cottege is winterized for year round living, I understand. The cottage is on a quiet working fishing harbor, and the island is beautiful. A small cafe, bakery, deli. market, store is 2 cottages away. It is non tourist-y, and the deck was fabulous. The furniture very comfortable, clean, beds great, bathroom, newly redone and spacious. We could not believe, renting an unseen property, was so perfect. I would highly reccommend this rental to anyone.
We stayed for a week just before Thanksgiving. Cottage was great. Neat, clean, well equipped kitchen and beautiful walking routes around Rutherford Is. Owners were great to work with.
We have stayed at the Bird's Nest for the last 4 years and we love it. It is located on Rutherford Island near Christmas Cove and a part of South Bristol which is quaint and absolutely beautiful. There is much to do in the local area of Damariscotta, Pemaquid and more. The house is close enough to the water to provide a view and plenty of cool ocean air. The house is in excellent condition and is very clean and cozy. Our family of four lives very comfortably. The house sits up high allowing the deck to look out over the water making watching sunsets spectacular! The front porch is a wonderful spot to sit and read in the shade or at night for some quiet time screened in while listening to the sounds of the night. The house is located very close to a small gourmet grocery offering many prepared foods, coffee and delicious frozen custard and is in walking distance to the small fishing villiage of South Bristol where you can easily pick up lobsters!
Enjoy biking, walking and kayaking in this picturesque setting. Dining and entertainment just five minutes away at Christmas Cove, with more great dining, shopping and recreation in nearby Damariscotta and Pemaquid Point.
