The concept of Londons Holiday Apartments evolved following a request from a very high profile sports star who was looking for accommodation during the 2011 Wimbledon tennis tournament. After consulting family and friends the idea grew, with ambitions of providing London bound tourists with a cheaper and more authentic experience. We asked ourselves, would we rather stay in a boring and unimaginative hotel or have the once in a lifetime opportunity to have our very own London Home? Clean and comfortable

This ground floor flat is a stone's throw from Wembley Stadium (a 5 minute walk). Perfect if you have tickets to Wembley as we did and don't want to join the huge crowds of people trying to get on the tube back to London after the event! The flat is also very close to Wembley Park tube station (take the Metropolitan line directly from Kings Cross to Wembley Park) and was very easy to find.
The flat itself is modern and compact but nicely presented and very clean and comfortable. We didn't realise when we booked that the flat owner actually lived there - we thought it was an empty flat for the sole purpose of being a holiday let. We think that most (all?) of the holiday lets on the website we used are actually people's own homes and they vacate them when the agents have a confirmed booking. Having said that, the owner of this flat was charming and helpful and after showing us around and making sure we were happy with the flat, he left for the weekend. He provided clean towels and fresh bedding and thoughtfully left instructions on how to operate the central heating, oven etc. We would certainly recommend this flat and would happily stay here again if we were visiting Wembley.

Wembley is a wonderful area of north west London, within the borough of Harrow. Wembley interestingly was originally in the 9th century known as Wemba Lea and remained a relatively unpopulated and mostly wooded area until the 18th and 19th Century when a combination of the industrial revolution and the resulting outward spread of London due to the new train lines built between London and Birmingham enabled more people to live further afield, thus Wembley started to flourish.

Wembley formed part of the large ancient parish of Harrow on the Hill in the Gore hundred of Middlesex. In 1894 Wembley was split from Harrow, creating a new parish and urban district. It included Alperton, Preston, North Wembley, South Kenton, Tokyngton, Sudbury, Wembley Park and Northwick Park. The urban district included the neighbouring parish of Kingsbury until 1901 and again from 1934.In 1937 it was incorporated as the Municipal Borough of Wembley. The fire brigade headquarters of Middlesex County Council were located on Harrow Road and is now a fire station of the London Fire Brigade. Wembley Town Hall on Forty Lane, built in 1938, became Brent Town Hall when the municipal boroughs of Wembley and Willesden were amalgamated in 1965 to form the London Borough of Brent and transferred to Greater London. Since the 2010 elections, Brent Council has been controlled by the Labour Party. Wembley falls within the UK Parliament constituency of Brent North, and the London Assembly constituency of Brent and Harrow.

The prime landmark is Wembley Stadium, rebuilt 2003-2007 at a cost of £827 million, which is approached via the White Horse Bridge designed by the London Eye architects. Nearby are Wembley Arena, a concert venue built in 1934 as the Empire Pool, a swimming pool for the Empire Games, and Fountain Studios, one of the country's largest purpose built television studios and host to X Factor, Bremner, Bird and Fortune and Britain's Got Talent.
