Wonderful Home: Quiet, Peaceful, Beautiful

  • 5 of 5
This property was very clean and beautiful. The location is fantastic for a quiet retreat. Fishing in Trout lake was very good, even off the dock! The multi-level deck gives fantastic views of the lake. Hearing the loons sing and the whipper whills are very relaxing. The owners were very accommodating with a special request that we asked for. There was plenty of firewood, the grill had a full tank of propane, the boat was gassed up and ready to go. We had a blast and definitely plan on returning to Loon Song Cottage.

ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5
A bunch of us (11 People) rented this house for Memorial Day weekend and couldn't have been happier with everything. The house is absolutely beautiful and you really do feel like you are living the life of luxury on the lake. All the windows around the house make you feel like you are outside even when indoors. The deck is huge, it was even big enough to have a fun game of Kan Jam on it!!! The owners were VERY accomodating. We ran out of propane and they got one to us immediately. There is an endless amount of fire wood that is all provided for you. The fishing is FANTASTIC!! Before we even left we were talking about making this a yearly trip to this lake AND house!!!!!!

Beautiful Home & Location. Loft, in my opinion, is dangerous and is not usable space.

Beautiful Home & Location. Loft, in my opinion, is dangerous and is not usable space.

This home is quite beautiful, the location on the lake is ideal and the use of the boats is most convenient. The down side to this property are the beds in the loft. We planned on having four adults sleep in that area. Two adults slept there but my husband and I chose to sleep out in our camper. I am middle aged but athletic. It is next to impossible to get luggage up the ladder. If you do manage to do so, there is no place to put it except on the floor. It is only possible for an adult to stand up in the middle of the sleeping areas in the loft due to the A-frame shape. Which puts you standing on the mattress. I crawled around picking my clothes out of piles on the floor for one night and then headed to the camper. You could leave luggage downstairs but how inconvenient. It is still difficult to stand and move around up there. Not to mention having to maneuver a steep ladder. I am not familiar with NY building codes but I can't believe that is a legal design. I will attempt to add photos. Other inconveniences are no linens. That is just not something one wants to pack when flying. We also discovered that drinking the tap water is not recommended. It was not brought to our attention until we had arrived and read the instructions left by the owner or property manager. So we had to make a trip back out for drinking water. The home was adequately clean but there was dust and objects left by others under the mattress frames upstairs. The top of the refrigerator had stuff piled on it and had not been dusted in quite awhile. Hard to get to places have been ignored but personally, I could live with it. I would recommend this home only if you do not need to use the loft.

Owner's Response: We thank you for your appreciation of the beauty of the home and location of Loon Song Cottage. We are sorry that you were disappointed in the head space around the beds of the loft, but the photos of the loft on homeaway show definitively that the area around the beds do hot have full height for adults. As to drinking water and linens not being provided, this information is stipulated in the guidelines, and our guests must sign a lease agreement stating that they have read the guidelines. The guidelines also stipulate that we will make arrangements to have linens provided by a local laundry service for a rental fee, if desired. We have been renting our waterfront homes since 1989 and have had only a handful of negative comments; however, we take every comment to heart and will do everything possible to address these issues--we thank you for bringing them to our attention.

A bit of Adirondacks heaven!

  • 5 of 5
We were very excited to stay at Loon Song after seeing the pictures of this beautifully appointed cottage. When we arrived and walked in our anticipation turned to awe. The stunning architecture, comfortable furnishings, and overall beauty exceeded our expectations. We felt right at home and settled in for the week immediately. The cottage is impeccably clean, spacious and bright. Floor to ceiling windows bring the outdoors in and provide beautiful views of the lake. The kitchen is modern and open and has all you need in the way of dishes and appliances. The large sectional sofa has enough room for everyone to lounge on at the end of the day to enjoy a fire in the wood burning fireplace or watch a movie on the large flat screen TV. The master bedroom is private and comfortable with doors leading to the deck and a separate bath. The kids loved the bunks and super cool loft. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor cedar hot tub, expansive deck and kayak and motor boat for fishing and cruising the lake. There's an abundance of wood and gas provided for fires and the boat. The kids loved the sandy beach, the outdoor fire pit, seeing the Loons in the water and hearing their calls early in the morning. They said it was "paradise!" Everything about our week was perfect! It was peaceful, relaxing and fun! Memories made for a lifetime!

Modern, well-appointed, and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5
This is a perfect place for solitude and luxury.Trout Lake is quiet and clean - spring fed, it's one of the top three cleanest lakes in NYS. Included is a sandy beach and a boat. The house is well-maintained, the owners are attentive, and the photos do not do it justice. It is a gorgeous home in an ideal private setting.

Loon Song

  • 5 of 5
Loon Song is a gem among lake cottages. The view of the lake from inside is spectacular (clearly the setting and design of this new cottage was well thought out). Even when indoors you feel like you're outdoors. The generous multi-leveled deck provides lots of flexibility with a group. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and just needed to make our beds and unload groceries then we were on our way with kayaking, fishing, swimming, hot tubbing, sunning, chatting, reading, etc. Oh what fun we had. The owners were generous with wood for the fire pit and gas for the grill and motor boat. It was everything and more than we had hoped for. The owners were friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay.
